  1. I see - freedom of choice is like Liberal dictatorship who make choices for you and give you all the handouts after taxing everyone to death ...
  2. Or maybe the truth hurts!
  3. I have news for you, jc, you used daycare. It may not have been licensed, it may have been casual, it may have consisted of a procession of short term arrangements, but it was daycare. The national program is not about subsidizing everyone. People will still pay a user fee, unless they are very low income. The program is more about making sure good quality care is available for those who need it. The moms you left your son with could have simply applied for a license and undergone an inspection, and they would have qualified for any funding the national program is doling out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wrong!! We did not use daycare in any shape, way or form. The mom our son stayed with was a personal friend with two children who chose not to work outside the home. There was no licensing nor inspections that were mandatory - parents made their own choices, screening and decisions. Others we knew, hired nannies - offering room & board with a small salary but those were in a higher income category and could afford to do so, we could not. At any rate, we made it and our son learned responsibility without whining for government handouts. Furthermore, one spouse worked full time, the other part time in order to keep a hand in the work force. Wages by no means were high from the full time worker. It was good money management, and self-reliance that was the drive and not the easy way out. So when is enough, actually enough?? And tell me why only for state run institutions should parents receive assistance and not for those who want to make their own choices?
  4. He might as well be. Have you seen his published policies? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't need to - Liberals have long been known to steal policies of other parties. So what else is new?
  5. There are centres and licensed family child care homes that offer extended hour care, evening and overnight care, and weekend care - the myth of the 9 to 5 hours is something the Conservatives like to promote, even though it isn't true. The Liberal plan could expand these programs to meet the needs of even more families; the Conservative plan would invest in even larger corporate big box child care centres, likely only in urban settings, whose mandate is profit rather than serving the needs of children and their families. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So what you are saying in order to receive Liberal assistance, you must institutionalize ones children rather than have the choice of having an "inhome nanny" or a stay at home mom, friend or relative who is willing to provide care for extra money they need??
  6. Having struggled through the many childcare options without strong government regulatins and standards, I wouldn't wish it for anybody else. Hence, the long overdue national daycare program is finally addressing what many parents have been calling for for decades. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Many parents [?] calling for national daycare [i don't recall calling for it] - it is the single moms [a fast growing increasing population] and today's spoiled that get everything handed to them generation that are wanting this. Has anyone actually sat down and figured out how much it really costs for a spouse to work?? My spouse & I both worked and found more than enough good sitters at reasonable cost. These sitters were mostly moms who wanted to stay home and took in kids for the extra money [tax free too] needed. Our son got better care than he would in a daycare. But then socialists do not know how to assume responsiblity for themselves - they need government to subsidize and lead them by the hand. How many are willing to purchase a small fixer upper home; purchase 2nd hand furniture; go camping instead of Hawaii; make do with one car and not a car for each member of the family; try good old fashioned home cooking rather than junk food and eating out; & so on.??? I have seen the food baskets of young women in grocery stores and I would say none of them had food there that can be prepared without chemicals or from scratch. Pre-packaged food is expensive and why fill ones body with all those preservatives??? No time, some will say - then I will say, ever learn to make casseroles, use slow cookers, or take the time to prepare enough meals for a few days and freeze them? So now the whine that the money allocated is not enough and that one cannot make their own subsidized choices but can only accept those choices doled out by government or be left out of the loop - so much for equality. Be grateful for whatever assistance is given rather than whine it is not enough. So when is enough actually enough??
  7. Topic - Why is Harper so scary? I know ... * He wears a shirt & tie. * He does not flap his hands around like a seagull in flight. * He is young and has no wrinkles and under age 60. * He has no record of stealing from the public purse. * He is not a lawyer. * He is not a Liberal. * He is a family man. * He has values. * He is not a wealthy man. * He pays taxes in Canada like most ordinary citizens do. * He's a Westerner - shucks, can't have that, now can we? * He will be good for Canada and make a great Prime Minister. * He did not benefit from Adsacam nor from the other Liberal 198 scandals. * He did not "gut" medicare and other programs in order to produce a huge surplus.
  8. Gosh, oh gee by golly - how did people ever manage when both worked and paid for a sitter without the need for government daycare or subsidies?
  9. Hopefully a Conservative Majority, if not then a Conservative strong minority.
  10. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, I consider the post in question to be more of a lack of rebuttal and frustration that the corrupt Liberals might actually get the boot!! How sweet it will be when they do get sent into the dustbin. Yahooo!!
  11. Oh but did you not know that I cannot defend myself when attacked because if I caused any injury to my attacker I would be charged with assault. If someone breaks into my home and they get injured, I can be sued. Cute, I would say!! Doncha just love Canadian laws!
  12. Makes a whole lot of sense but be careful you will be accused of living or reverting to the "dark ages". Anyone killing a police officer is supposed to receive the death penalty but officers have been killed and the killers are let free after doing minimal time. I have personally been a victim of an assault in an attempted robbery. Sure the guy was arrested and the next morning the judge let him out on bail only to re-offend that same day. The offender was a known criminal who had a record. In my case he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery; injury causing bodily harm; plus a couple more I cannot remember as it was 6 yrs. ago. While waiting for his trial, it was considered time served - man pled guilty and was out on the street the next day. The RCMP arrived at our house to advise us that this person had been set free. About a week later, the Victims Services contacted us to see how this impacted our lives and I told them that I feared our legal system more than I did the criminal who received no punishment nor treatment for his drug addiction. I also told them that I prayed the Judge and legislators would be attacked in a similar manner and only then they would know what it feels like to be victimized and attacked. Of course, that is not what they wanted to hear as that is so politically incorrect. Too bad!!
  13. Ah yes, my mistake. Still, the same principle applies. Given your inability to debunk any of my other points (or provide a source for your 46 per cent figure; which undoubtebly comes from the bogus Western standard poll that was discussed elsewhere a few months back), I can see you've got nothing. It's Xmas and I have no time to do the research for you as I do not spend much time here but if you are in doubt, do the research. So what you're saying is B.C. and Alberta do not, in fact, speak as one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are saying that, not me. The Liberal vote in BC is probably not because people have suddenly gotten down on their knees in praise of Liberals. Migrantion from Central Canada is what has pushed up the stats. I wish I had archived the article where it said BC & Alberta signed an agreement to speak as one. I certainly did not make it up - I have no reason to.
  14. Which begs the question, what happens to the Natives when and if Quebec chooses to separate? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They have made it clear they wish to remain a part of Canada.
  15. Let's take a look at today's schools and society, it is filled with sex education [in schools, books & TV]; political correctness; envirnonmental extremisim; global unity; diversity training; high order thinking [believing there are no absolutes]. It is filled with violence, murder, rape, unwanted pregnancies, drug use, disrespect; foul language and more. Socialists like to call themselves "liberal", "progressive" and even "moderate". By changing and shifting their meaning, they hide their true purpose. Everything will be done under the banners of reform, equality, social justice, suggesting all was for public good, humanitarian reasons, true democracy and finally "for the children". We are not only seemingly losing our freedoms, slowly we are. Are we walkiing a communist plank under the guise of socialism? The first thing communists do to expand their power is put the women to work in order to take over the family unit. Putting them to work separates both parents from the children so that they can be indoctrinated and propagandized in the government/socialist schools and preschools. Increasing the workforce also decreases wages - in the 1950's, the average American family lived fine on one income. Today the average American family needs TWO incomes just to get by because the progressive income tax has sapped the earning power from the main male breadwinner and women in the workforce has lowered his earnings. Women in the workforce and feminism therefore are government tools for creating more Taxpaying slaves for The State resulting in the enslavement of the average family unit. Feminists are being used and they don't even realize it. They have complained about power control freak men and husbands, only to have this alleged tyranny replaced by an even worst Power-Control-Freak - government. On that note - Have a very Merry Christmas.
  16. Where did you get this idea from? BC is as different from Alberta as Ontario and Quebec. The current polls suggest that the Liberals could squeek through to another minority only because of the 40%+ support in the Vancouver area. Even if this support softens by election day, it does show that the absolute hatred of the Liberals that is common in Alberta is not shared by BC. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It may not be shared in BC because of the influx of immigrants/refugees beholden to the Liberals for giving them free lunch. Also, the migration of people from Central Canada, especially since NDP got kicked out, will also have an effect. Pity!
  17. I'm sure there's a few seperatists in every province. But a handful of malcontents does not a political movement make. Also: there have been no reliable polls done on separation in Alberta, so it seems you've just pulled numbers out of your arse. The only reliable method for guaging public support for separation is the success of the political parties advocating such a course of action. In 2004, the Separation Party of Alberta ran 12 candidates and captured 0.5 per cent of the vote. To put that in perspective, the Communist party ran 2 candidates and garnered 0.1 per cent of the vote. As for B.C. and Alberta speaking as one, is that why there's an NDP government in BC and a Conservative one in Alberta? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The last I heard was that the Liberals were governing B.C. - did they have an election and NDP won or did you pull that out of your arse?
  18. You mean "Alberta", the only place where separation is ever bandied about as a solution and only by a tiny minority of malcontents. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> B.C. will go with Alberta and if you think there no separatists in B.C., you have another think coming. As for Alberta, the percentage is rising, currently around 46% and will well exceed 50% if the Liberals get another term. BC & Alberta speak as one voice or did you not know this?
  19. The government is my Shepherd, therefore I shall not work. It alloweth me to lie down on a good job. It leadeth me beside still factories; it destroyeth my initiative, It leadeth me in the path of a parasite for politic's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of laziness and deficit spending, I will fear no evil, for the government is with me. It prepareth an economic Utopia for me, by borrowing from future generations. It filleth my head with false security; my inefficiency runneth over. Surely the government should take care of me all the days of my life! And I will dwell in a welfare state forever and ever.
  20. I believe that not only will Quebec separate, so will the West. It may not be in the near future, but it will happen. Actually it will happen sooner than later if Liberals continue remaining in power. They not only alienated Quebec, but the West and the U.S. - who next? NDP is just an further left extension of the Liberals and I would not trust Layton as far as I could throw him, and that is not very far.
  21. We live under what is more properly called a mixed economy--that is, an economic system that permits private property, but only at the discretion of government planners. A little bit of capitalism and a little bit of socialism. When government redistributes wealth through taxation, when it attempts to control and regulate business production and trade, who are the winners and losers? Under this kind of economy the winners and losers are reversed: the winners are those who scream the loudest for a handout and the losers are those quiet citizens who work hard and pay their taxes. That's how socialism works. The requirements for success in a free society demand that ordinary citizens order their lives in accordance with certain virtues--namely, rationality, independence, industriousness, prudence, frugality, etc. In a free capitalist society individuals must choose for themselves how they will order their lives and the values they will pursue. Under socialism, most of life's decisions are made for you. The Liberals do and NDP will not only make decisions for us but for their MP's as well - no free vote.
  22. gang bang, swing all ya want and when you get a good dose of STD's please go to the end of the line [hip replacements come first] and not whine about going to the head of the line because you are in pain or whatever. Engjoy your gang banging.
  23. The evidence connecting Mulroney to Airbus was pure heresay and has as much substance as the evidence connecting Martin to sponsership. You can't have it both ways: they are either likely both guilty or both innocent. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Martin was the watchdog. If he did not smell a rat then he is incompetent. Perhaps he should be investigated for competency. He had his own fingers dipping in the trough by cutting himself cheap loans for CSL. and not a peep about it. They all had a good thing going and protect one another. Re Mulroney, he was exonerated and years of investigation found no connection or wrong doing. I believe the Liberals are still quietly investigating and nada. Sure there were a few scandals during the Mulroney reign but the Liberals top them all by a long shot and my guess is if they are re-elected they will continue with corruption and arrogance - after all, we said it is okay at the polling booth.
