Security risks still in Canada
justcrowing replied to justcrowing's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
My take would be that those who struggle are here through legal channels and are motivated. What about those who are not? Getting back to security risks, I did archive the following .... http://www.parapundit.com/archives/001970.html According to numerous intelligence and law enforcement reports, however, terrorists and international organized crime groups increasingly are using Canada as an operational base and transit country en route to the United States. A generous social-welfare system, lax immigration laws, infrequent prosecutions, light sentencing, and long borders and coastlines offer many points and methods of entry that facilitate movement to and from various countries, particularly to the United States. These factors combine to make Canada a favored destination for terrorists and international organized crime groups. particular systemic and institutional characteristics make Canada hospitable to international terrorists and criminals. David Griffin, Executive Officer of the Canadian Police Association, explained: Our proximity to the United States of America makes Canada extremely vulnerable, however it is our lax immigration policy, open borders, weak laws, archaic justice system, an even weaker corrections system and under enforcement that make us extremely attractive to the sophisticated criminal.584 In a 1999 Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) report entitled “Exploitation of Canada’s Immigration System: An Overview of Security Intelligence Concerns,” CSIS Director Ward Elcock is quoted as saying that “in most cases, [terrorists] appear to use Canadian residence as a safe haven, a means to raise funds, to plan or support overseas activities or as a way to obtain Canadian travel documents which make global travel easier.” According to the report, more than 50 terrorist groups are believed to be operating in Canada, including the Algerian Armed Islamic Group, the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, the Tamil Tigers, Sikh extremists, the Kurdistan Workers Party, Hizballah, and extremist Irish groups.585 According to a 1999 report by Canada’s Special Senate Committee on Security and Intelligence, Crimes committed in Canada are not considered relevant to asylum requests unless they would bring more than ten years of imprisonment. This provision means that most of the criminal means by which terrorists raise funds—such as fraud, theft, and counterfeiting—would not disqualify them for asylum, even if they are found guilty. The same can be said for a portion of the illegal activities engaged in by international organized criminal groups. -

This morning's news - The U.S. has found terrorist ties to Canada and this involves a Canadian born terrorist. We would like to believe that those who come here to live in peace would leave their baggage behind them but they don't and pass it along to the children. How does a country deal with something like this? What about the Tamil Tigers who have been raising money for terrorist activities and yet we as a country turned a blind eye and allowed it to happen for many years. Politicians are aware that there are approx. 50 terrorist groups in Canada raising funds under the guise of charities, and have been keeping a watchful eye on them. Why just a watchful eye and not do something positive about it? Why were the Tamil Tigers allowed to operate for so long and were just recently raided in their operation in Montreal? blueblood - You do not have to be a Canadian citizen to have all the rights and privileges under our Charter. The moment a foreigner steps on our soil, they have these rights. We can only blame ourselves for not extending this right only when it is earned and one becomes a citizen. Is there any other country that automatically extends such rights to newcomers who have not become citizens? Sometime ago, I read in one of the Eastern online papers, that in Toronto the unemployment rate of immigrants/refugees exceeds 60% - all of whom are collecting welfare. No doubt these are economic immigrants but can we save the whole world by handing out charity? Why must we keep known foreign criminals here and not enforce explusion? Well in part that can be because the homeland is glad to get rid of them and will not provide travel documents hence we are stuck with them. To send them somewhere other than their homeland and if they are not accepted by another country, that would leave these people stateless so they unfortunately remain in Canada. Immigrants have helped to build this country but the criminal element certainly does not. Just my two cents worth. -

Why must it always come to Liberal-bashing? Is it impossible to discuss this without partisan theatrics? This has nothing to do with Liberal bashing - at least not on my part. All previous governments are guilty however, it was Trudeau who , I believe, opened the flood gates and relaxed the rules so Liberals must assume some blame especially since they have had power the longest. -

From a reliable source - previous government knew who the criminals were and there is no mistaking about it. Investigative work produced detailed reports. Much was overshadowed by socialist sentiments and votes. The system is also in a mess because of understaffing; being too lax, and not enforcing the Act as it was written. -
http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/st...dea8670&k=65571 Excerpts ..... Security risks still in Canada 3,000 criminals, possible terrorists avoid deportation Rejected from settling permanently in Canada because of their criminal offences, shady pasts or the potential security risks they pose, the 3,000 are among 30,000 expulsions that have not been carried out by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). And those 3,000 are still in Canada for reasons that vary widely. They may be serving prison sentences, have cases pending before the courts, be needed as Crown witnesses, have their warrants suspended because of a moratorium on deportations to a troubled country, or be applying for special consideration to stay due to dangerous conditions in their homelands. Others may simply have disappeared, slipping underground -- or leaving on their own without notifying authorities. The Supreme Court of Canada declared last June that Mr. Mugesera incited genocide in Rwanda by delivering a hate-mongering speech to Hutu militants before the 1994 massacre of more than 800,000 ethnic Tutsis. A decade after deportation proceedings began and nine months after the top court ruled, the Quebec City resident is still in Canada awaiting a pre-removal risk assessment. Officials at Citizenship and Immigration Canada could allow him to stay if they deem his security at risk in his homeland. Mr. Mohammad neglected to mention he was convicted in the fatal hijacking of an Israeli airliner when he arrived in Canada in 1987. Once his past as a terrorist for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine caught up with him a year later, Canadian officials initiated deportation proceedings on the grounds he had entered the country under false pretenses. But 18 years on, Mr. Mohammad is still here. His latest bid to avoid removal argues it would be "cruel and unusual" to send the ailing 62-year-old sufferer of migraines, prostatitis, diabetes and high cholesterol to Lebanon, where Palestinians often have difficulty accessing health care. my comment: Tough & too bad and why should Canadian taxpayers pay for his health care? Sergio Karas, a Toronto immigration lawyer, called the 3,000 unexecuted warrants for rights violators, war criminals and terrorists an "astonishing number." He said that while everyone is entitled to due process and has a right to their day in court, their deportations can be dragged out for years, even decades, due to a seemingly limitless array of appeal procedures.

Western Standar is being Sued

I'm throwing a few bucks to them in support. But the real tragedy here is that this Muslim imam (very hard to remember Islamic names off the cuff - but I have a feeling we'll all get better at it. I can say "abu-musab-al-zarqawi" without a stutter now!) anyway - thet tragedy is that this imam truly in his heart believes that he should have the right to shut Ezra up. That's what's truly scary, is that some imams in this country believe they have the right to curtain free speech in the name of their religion - which all of a sudden begins to sound very much like the muslim countries in the middle east. And the even SCARIER part is that there are plenty of lefty Canadians who can't wait to stand beside him on this. Canada is NOT the middle east. We are a free society with freedom of the press. It probably won't be long before Canada is the Middle East only will be called Middle West and we will no longer have freedom of speach nor freedoms we think we currently have - wanna bet the next thing that these people will go after is our Charter because in some way it will inferfere with the Koran. Enjoy what is left of this country while you can. Bye. -
Someone I have known for quite some time has just purchased a 15 yr. old 2 bdrm. condo in New Westminster - 14th floor with a view of the river, city and mountains, walking distance to shopping, for $320,000. for 1168 sq. ft. However, if one is talking White Rock, West Vancouver, Point Grey or the West End or Downtown, then yes, prices start at half a million plus and can range into the million plus dollars depending upon square footage, location, view, etc. Their daughter purchased an old house in New Westminster for $450,000 which requires some remodelling. One has to shop around to suit their pocketbook. Abbotsford can be cheaper but then there is a commute if one works downtown. Where I live in B.C. if I so desired, I can sell my new 1268 sq. ft. Custom Condo with a view for $335,000 and get my full price. Because of climate, B.C. along with a strong economy is a very popular place to reside. Even small towns/cities are becoming very expensive as they become a popular destination with those seeking cheaper accommodations. Your statement illustrates the entire problem: no one absolutely needs to buy a detached home in Vancouver for $600,000. A two or three bedroom condo in the $200-300K range provides adequate housing for most people. All they need to do is adjust their expectations or move to a different city. I beleive that most people who insist they need two incomes to live are not being honest with themselves. What they really want are two incomes to support the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed and are not willing to sacrifice that lifestyle to support their children. That is why the gov't should never provide a universal daycare service because it simply encourages people to make bad choices that end up costing the tax payer a lot of money. If anything, the gov't t should provide more incentives to encourage people to stay at home to take care of their own kids. Subsidized daycare, when it is available should be restricted to the truely working poor (i.e. single parent households with low income). A three bedroom condo in Vancouver would cost between 500 and 600K...sorry you're out of touch here.

So mom works and has the rest of the working family waiting on her hand and foot. Perfect feminisim!! Whoever gets home first cooks. Just so happens I work til 5, hubby works til 3:30 when on days. When he's on nights I cook. On Tuesdays when both my men go to cadets, I cook and do the dishes. I cook and do the dishes on the weekends Wassa matter? Jealous? It's not 'feminism' darlin' -- it's r-e-a-l-i-t-y. In my family no one is waited on... we all do our share. Nothing to get jealous over. Gimmes always get.

yes she does. The law only specifies that the non-costodial parent has to pay. I wonder if women are less likely to pay then men? Maybe men are less likely to file for child support if that's the case? questions....questions...questions... Well I don't know the average amount the non-custodial parent pays if they are male vs female or the % of paying vs non-paying non-custodial spouses by gender. I suspect that men pay more than women simply because the child support formula calculates the amount based upon the income of the non-custodial parent. Since in general men get paid more than women, they will also in general pay more than women. It split of single parent households by gender is a follows: http://www.singlefathers.org/ And the following might just explain why there are so many children without father's in their lives ... 85% of youths in prison are from fatherless homes! 71% of high school dropouts are from fatherless homes! 90% of homeless and runaway children and youths are from fatherless homes! Source: www.equalparenting.net When are they going to get it, kids need dads in their lives. The judicial system is keeping dads out of kids lives because it keeps the lawyers and judges in business. As the kids get older and start breaking the law and rebelling - they supplement the justice system. It is not about the kids, it is about gimme the money and shove the guy out the door but watch out when things go wrong then dad gets the blame for not being around. Children need both of their parents in their lives. A father is just as important in the life of a child than is a mother. Listen to Randall Moore’s commentary on the dilemas fathers face in divorce situations in Canada. More and more media people are beginning to understand how disastrous the situation is and are beginning to speak up. Good work Randall! : http://www.fathers-4-justice.ca/20060203-R...andallMoore.mp3 How does a judge who “specializes” in “civic and commercial law”, and at that “particularly shareholder disputes” become a FAMILY COURT JUDGE ?...and then ENDANGERS the lives of children!: http://www.fathers-4-justice.ca/ecasgrain.html

It was the feminists' pressure on stay-at-home mothers that has caused the alarming decay in society's fabric. I think government-run/organized daycares breed aggressive children by the very nature of the fact that mothers are not there to protect their child's rights -- the right to play with the toy they found first, for example. It's power to the most powerful child and that carries on into adulthood. Parental love is the element that is missing in these daycare environments. I believe teens' joining gangs is a hindbrain attempt to be part of a "loyal" family -- any family. This behaviour often carries through to criminal activities, courts, jails, and ultimately to a total breakdown of society. The federal Tory plan to reward the parents that are willing to make the sacrifices to stay home and raise their own kids is the right plan. Reward them with tax breaks of every kind. Parents will benefit, children will benefit, and so will society. An unintended consequence will be that it will cost less in the long run. Tell us how, as a child, you spent too much time with your mother and too little with your babysitter?

I love how everyone's playing a fun game of "jump to conclusions." "The Sikh's wear their Kirpan as a symbol," not as a weapon. Kirpa means "benevolence" and aan means "dignity." It's reminder to fight against oppression, not necessarily by slaughtering everyone with their Kirpans. You don't wear your crusader's sword because your religion hasn't made that part of its culture. You do however symbolic eat the flesh and drink the blood of your saviour. Which could be regarded as more barbaric than someone carrying a small dagger to remind them to stand up against those who would oppress them or anyone else. The Kirpan is one of the 5 K's of being a Sikh and they're right, asking them to remove it is an attack on their religion. From here you go off on a wild tangent about them striking back with lethal force. This is ridiculous, since we're obviously discussing how they fought back and that was by using the court system of Canada. Odd how a culture that you would have everyone believe "doesn't believe in the laws of Canada," completely abided by them to have their religion protected. If Sikh's didn't believe in Canadian law, we wouldn't even be discussing the Supreme Court's ruling. If Sikh's used lethal force at their whim, we'd have a lot more dead Canadians at the hands of Sikh's wielding Kirpans. And once again you revert back to your ignorant western thinking that these knives are carried to be used as weapons at the whim of some lunatic Sikh. I really don't understand why more people don't see this as being ignorant, bigoted and intolerant. Is this being ignorant, bigoted and intolerant western thinking ?..... If kirpans are a symbol then explain why their own airlines prohibit kirpans - do they know something we don't? .... " Air India and Pakistani International Airlines specifically prohibit kirpans on board their airplanes. British Airways, US Air and American Airlines have policies prohibiting any bladed items on board, which policies are interpreted to include kirpans. The court policy makes no exception for kirpans as they have the potential to inflict damage, notwithstanding their religious nature. " violent incidents regarding kirpans Evidence was led by the respondent with respect to a number of incidents where it appears that kirpans were indeed used as offensive weapons, including evidence with respect to the hijacking of two aircraft in the mid-1980's. In addition, testimony was given by Cpl. McConnell, who was the file co-ordinator with respect to a major disturbance at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, on January 11, 1997. The disturbance evidently arose as a result of a disagreement between two factions in the congregation with respect to an issue of religious doctrine. Cpl. McConnell was present at the scene and described what occurred there. In addition, he provided two videotapes of the disturbance. I was witness to the Jan. ll/97 incident and women and men were injured from the use of a kirpan. Dr. Singh is an Amrit-dhari Sikh, one who has held positions of considerable responsibility within the Sikh community, and who is clearly a devout adherent to the Sikh faith. In Dr. Singh's view, wearing a miniature kirpan pin is sufficient to discharge his religious obligations, and is a practice followed by many devout Amrit-dhari Sikh.

http://tinyurl.com/fj8u8 Professor McLeod's testimony was consistent with that of Dr. Pashaura Singh. Dr. Singh is himself an Amrit-dhari Sikh, one who has held positions of considerable responsibility within the Sikh community, and who is clearly a devout adherent to the Sikh faith. Dr. Singh was called by the respondent to testify with respect to his own practices relating to the wearing of the kirpan. Dr. Singh testified that when he flies, he will wear a miniature kirpan of approximately 1 ½ inches in length attached to his kanga or comb, as some airlines do not permit kirpans the size of Mr. Nijjar's travel kirpan to be carried on board. In Dr. Singh's view, wearing a miniature kirpan is sufficient to discharge his religious obligations, and is a practice followed by many devout Amrit-dhari Sikh. In a complaint by a Sikh against a Canadian Airline, the ruling was .... " Conclusion re Prima Facie Case While the fact that Mr. Nijjar filed and pursued his complaint for several years certainly suggests that he has strong feelings about what transpired, ultimately we must decide the case on the basis of the evidence before us. In this regard we cannot conclude on the basis of that evidence, and in particular, on the basis of Mr. Nijjar's testimony, that the respondent's policy had a differential impact on Mr. Nijjar based upon his religion. As a consequence, we find that the complainant and the Commission have failed to establish a prima facie case of discrimination, and the complaint is dismissed. Other Kirpan Policies There is no standard within the airline industry with respect to kirpans on aircraft. We have earlier described Transport Canada's position with respect to the four inch rule and the application of that approach by Air Canada and Canadian Airlines. It appears that Air India and Pakistani International Airlines specifically prohibit kirpans on board their airplanes. British Airways, US Air and American Airlines have policies prohibiting any bladed items on board, which policies are interpreted to include kirpans. The court policy makes no exception for kirpans as they have the potential to inflict damage, notwithstanding their religious nature. violent incidents regarding kirpans Evidence was led by the respondent with respect to a number of incidents where it appears that kirpans were indeed used as offensive weapons, including evidence with respect to the hijacking of two aircraft in the mid-1980's. The fact that this assault has come from within makes it all the more astounding. The Left is a wholly western child, born and raised within its confines. It is as though the Left somehow embodies the West’s reaction against the West. It is as though under some suicidal impulse the West has turned against itself with a self-destructive intent The Left’s successes have been largely due to its takeover of the two main channels for the dissemination of knowledge and information – the media and academia. Careful to avoid positive portrayal of the West in almost any context, they abound in aspersions and criticism. In the process, the Left has devised an ingenious and effective mode of censorship to further its ends. It is called political correctness. While I agree with smalldeadanimals's opinion there, I don't see this as a moral issue. This is strictly an issue of public safety. I agree completely it is public safety. But if you read the article on moral issue you will see why the kirpan is now allowed. You are pretty smart and I think you can figure it out.

Those kirpans are not only a religious symbol but also used as a weapon. A few years back when there was dissention amongst the Temperates and Moderates, at least half a dozen people were injured from the use of the kirpan. I know cuz I lived in "the war zone" and witnessed it happening. Kirpans have no place in a public area such as schools, hospitals, government buildings, etc.

Could this be how the anti-American scenario was hatched? http://www.smalldeadanimals.com/ March 02, 2006 McKenna Confirms Martin Campaign "Set Up" On Dec.20, Stephen Taylor and I pulled together posts on evidence that the Paul Martin's spat with the US was orchestrated for campaign purposes. As he leaves his post, former US ambassador Frank McKenna confirms this was the case (and suggests it backfired). Vancouver Sun; After being "muzzled" for months as Canada's ambassador to the United States, Frank McKenna criticized former prime minister Paul Martin's office Wednesday for stoking anti-U.S. sentiment during the recent federal election campaign. McKenna, speaking to reporters on his last day as Canada's envoy, called the behaviour "sanctimonious" and said it backfired on Liberals in the Jan. 23 election. Moreover, the ambassador said, the White House was justifiably angry over politically motivated leaks from Martin's office about private discussions between the prime minister and U.S. President George W. Bush. "The United States seems very prepared to have us be assertive for Canadian interests and they really respect us when we stand our ground on matters. But when we are judgmental and almost sanctimonious, I find they take offence, and quite rightfully so," McKenna said. "I don't think [Canadians] buy into the idea of gratuitously being offensive. If I had to speculate, I would say that playing that card during the election was not helpful at all to the electoral prospects of the people doing it." It was the first time McKenna had commented publicly about the chill that fell over Canada-U.S. relations during the eight-week election campaign, when the Liberals took aim at the Bush White House as part of their election strategy. The White House was surprised and "frustrated" with Martin for accusing the Bush administration of lacking a global conscience during an international climate-change conference last December in Montreal. But Martin's office deliberately fanned the flames by spreading a highly exaggerated story about McKenna being summoned to the White House for a reprimand, the outgoing ambassador said. The conduct extended to leaked details of an earlier telephone conversation between Bush and Martin, in which the prime minister was cast as chastising the U.S. president over the softwood lumber dispute. It's good to remind everyone every so often just how utterly unimportant Canadian economic and trade interests were to a Paul Martin campaign team intent on retaining power.

And then again maybe policies are the changes people want. Support rises for Conservatives in new poll Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:00 AM EST OTTAWA (Reuters) - The Conservatives have gained popularity since the January 23 election and would have a good chance of winning a majority government if an election were held now, according to an opinion poll released on Thursday. Ipsos-Reid said public backing for the Conservatives was 39 percent, up from the 36.3 percent they won on election day. The Liberals, ousted after 12 years in power, were down to 27 percent from 30.2 percent. "Such results suggest that if an election were held tomorrow, the Conservative Party would likely be delivered a majority government," the pollsters said, noting a strong rise in Conservative support in Quebec. The Conservatives only have 125 of the 308 seats in Parliament and must rely on support from other parties to push through their legislation. The Bloc Quebecois says it will support the government for now because it does not want to trigger a new election. The poll was the third survey published in the last three days. A Strategic Counsel survey for the Globe and Mail on Wednesday put the Conservatives at 39 percent with the Liberals at 28 percent. But an SES poll on Tuesday showed the Liberals were leading the Conservatives by 34 to 33 percent. SES has generally been the most accurate polling firm in Canada and correctly predicted the results of the last two elections. The Ipsos-Reid survey of 1,000 people was conducted between February 14 and 16 and is considered accurate to within 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20. http://tinyurl.com/gofds

Preparing for a Divorce Skip all that legal stuff -Steps to be taken: Run Forrest Run - do a google search for a country she can't come after you. Empty all accounts to offshore account. Live in straw hut with mn 1 scantily clad nympho native women Live on bananas, coconuts and rum Die young with a smile on your face. And some may well have taken that route in order to escape persecution from our Courts.

Can't suck up anything when government is involved - they need to get a slice of the pie too. Courts are gender biased so guys lose the majority of the time. Not only do the gals get the house, furniture & kids but alimony as well in most cases. Grin & bear it or stay single. Divorce is political because government is involved.

Canadian Muslims simply un-Canadian?

Click on links for full article. b] Gaming western liberalism[/b] http://news.yahoo.com/s/ucjl/20060213/cm_u...sternliberalism ISLAMIC RADICALS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WESTERN LIBERALISM By John Leo Sun Feb 12, 8:42 PM ET Is the biggest issue in the cartoon controversy free expression, sensitivity or fear? One vote here for none of the above. The key question may be this: Are Muslims in Europe going to live by the rules of the West, or by the rules of Islam? Every now and then, a European nation decides to put its foot down, banning headscarves in French schools, expelling some jihadist imams in three nations, and deporting Muslim illegals as the Netherlands did after two high-profile murders that shocked the nation. But on the whole, Europe has chosen weakness and backpedaling. A British judge agreed to bar Jews and Hindus from the jury at the trial of a Muslim. Sheikh Qaradawi was welcomed in London, despite his call for the murder of homosexuals and the fact that he himself was wanted for murder in Egypt. King Ferdinand III, who fought to win Spain's independence from the Moors, was removed as patron saint of the annual fiesta in Seville out of deference to Muslim feelings. The Dutch Language Union decreed that the word Christ would now be spelled with a lowercase "c," starting in August. Crucifixes are disappearing from hospitals, and some Muslims are demanding that statues of Dante be removed, because the poet's "Divine Comedy" placed Muhammad in hell. A government office in Britain banned Winnie the Pooh, piggy banks and other images of pigs so Muslims wouldn't have to see them -- a small but galling example of Europe's unwillingness to live by its own standards. In France, more than 10,000 cars were torched in 2005, mostly, it appears, by young Muslims. Ho-hum. In the post-cartoon demonstrations in Britain, police ignored the signs saying "Exterminate those who mock Islam" and "Be prepared for the real holocaust," but quickly arrested two counterprotesters carrying posters with images of Muhammad. In the first cartoon riots in Denmark last September, Danish police were warned to stay out of Muslim neighborhoods. As one Muslim said, "This is our area. We rule this place." Europe is facing more opportunities to back down. Muslim fathers in Linz, Austria, are demanding that all female teachers, whether Muslim or not, be required to wear headscarves in school. The Muslim Council of Britain, which justifies Palestinian suicide bombers, wants Holocaust Day eliminated. Much of the Muslim assertiveness is an outgrowth of Europe's disastrous love affair with multiculturalism. In theory, immigrants were to be encouraged to maintain their own identity and traditions in exchange for accepting Europe's system of shared values. In practice, it has mostly been a plan for hands-off separatism and resistance to assimilation. Governments offer financial help in building schools and places of worship, and encourage the importing of imams from Arab countries, many of them predictably haters of the West. Raed Hlayhel, an imam in Denmark, for instance, was part of an entourage that toured the Middle East, building rage over the cartoons. He and the other imams took along several fabricated cartoons, one showing Muhammad as a pedophile and another depicting him having sex with a dog. Shouldn't these provocations earn each of these imams a one-way trip back to the Middle East? As historian Fred Siegel of New York's Cooper Union points out, many of the imams have taken a page out of Yasser Arafat's book, speaking tolerantly in Europe, but calling for blood when on the Arab media. He says Muslim spokesman know how to game Western liberalism, demanding free speech when they deny the Holocaust, then dropping the free-speech argument and arguing that anti-Muslim criticisms and cartoons should be censored on grounds of multicultural sensitivity. Europe has a hard decision on what to do with the so-called "conveyor-belt" Islamist groups that do not commit terrorism themselves, but recruit and indoctrinate young males, then turn them over to terrorist groups. One of them, Hizb ut-Tahrir, active in Denmark and more than 40 other countries, played an incendiary role in the cartoon controversy. "By combining fascist rhetoric, Leninist strategy and Western sloganeering with Wahhabi theology, Hizb ut-Tahrir has made itself into a very real and potent threat that is extremely difficulty for liberal societies to counter," Zeyno Baran of Washington's Nixon Center wrote in Foreign Affairs. The conveyor belts are designed to take advantage of the West's protections of free speech and civil liberties. But they are dangerous parts of the broader terrorist operation. Germany banned Hizb ut-Tahrir. Other nations should too. If the West doesn't stop the spread of Islamic radicalism, the danger will soon be far graver than it is now. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> More here: http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=21334 Textbooks Proselytize for Allah By Kalavai Venkat FrontPageMagazine.com | February 17, 2006 Muslim organizations have not only used California schools and textbooks to proselytize for Allah, but they now seek to portray other religions through an Islamic prism, claim the modern Jews do not have an historical connection to the nation of Israel, and reintroduce the charge of deicide to American textbooks. At least three major publishers whose textbooks are under consideration for adoption by the State of California – Ballard & Tighe, Houghton-Mifflin, and McDougal Littell – have enlisted Shabbir Mansuri, Founding Director of Council on Islamic Education (CIE), as content consultant. Publishers shared their pre-print edition of textbooks with CIE, thereby facilitating the sanitizing of Islam before the textbooks made it to the public domain. But that was apparently not enough for CIE; they have submitted an additional set of edits that would help seventh grade Californians understand their respective religions from an Islamic perspective. Just Call Allah “God” The would-be textbook editors insist the deity of Islam not be identified as “Allah,” but rather “God.” One proposed CIE edit reads: In describing the beliefs, the authors’ insistence on leaving the word Allah un-translated in some instances creates the impression that Allah is the distinct god of the Arabs, rather than the One God worshipped by Jews, Christians, Muslims and others. [CIEAP – 3; ML – 80-138, 350-354, 498-499] In effect, this would have the State of California certify that the Muslim deity is the true God. At the same time, if this proposed edit is accepted, not only Peoples of the Book, but even “idolaters” can take comfort in the “fact” that Allah is their God. Since textbooks portray Islam as a replacement of other Abrahamic religions, supplanting “God” for “Allah” will help impressionable children internalize their portrayal of Islam as the final revelation to mankind. CIE also insists that the word “God” should replace all names given to God in Judaism: The Hebrew name for God is never pronounced by Jews, as it is considered too holy. God is represented by the Hebrew letters YHWH. As indicated, the references to “Yahweh” should be changed to “God,” just as the Arabic word “Allah” should be introduced and then all subsequent references should be to “God.” [CIEAP – 6; HRW – Item 12, SE 232] One is curious why CIE did not propose words such as Adonai or Ha-Shem, which the Jews use to refer to God…or when it became a Muslim concern. Perhaps textbooks should teach the fact that Allah was one of the presiding deities of the pre-Islamic Pagan Arabs, who worshipped Allah (then addressed Al-ilah) as the Moon God. It would ensure that children practicing other religions are not misled into thinking that God is synonymous with Allah. But that would work against CIE’s apparent agenda of using school textbooks to proselytize. -
Margrace - just what is that secret agenda you are talking about - I would sure like to know what it is??? So what? 'Conservatives like you' resent paying for anything that does not directly benefit you and would happily shut down the entire gov't. The general public is perfectly happy paying for CBC with their tax dollars. It is apparent that CP people do not like having some of their agenda made public. The same with the American Governments cut back on Public Television. Having a news source that tells us everything is not the way to control people However I have to voice my opinion that the CBC is very aware of where their money comes from and as they saw that there might be a Conservative win the certainly backed off in honest reporting of the Conservative agenda. Now we are beginning to see that Harper did have a hidden agenda, and that people are going to suffer for it. So being publicly funded is not the win all it should be.
