israeli deputy prime minister: Iran never called to wipe out Israel
bud replied to bud's topic in The Rest of the World
of course there is a difference. because in one instance, the misquotation is about wiping out a country and the other is about removing a regime. from the article: In 2005 Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying that Israel should be "wiped off the map," but it was later revealed that the translation of his remarks, published by media outlets around the world, was incorrect. Ahmadinejad was actually quoting the leader of the 1979 Islamic revolution: "The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time." -

you are in denial. -
language experts have repeatedly asserted that ahmadinejad has never said 'israel should be wiped out', however, this misquotation, or mistranslation continues to be used by those who want find any excuse to paint iran as a reckless and aggressive country and thus try to justify an attack on iran. Minister of Intelligence and Atomic Energy Dan Meridor told Al Jazeera that Iran never vowed to "wipe Israel off the map," as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly claimed. Speaking to the Arab network, Meridor, who also serves as deputy PM, said Iran's leaders "all come basically ideologically, religiously with the statement that Israel is an unnatural creature, it will not survive." However, he added, "They didn't say 'we'll wipe it out,' but (rather) 'it will not survive, it is a cancerous tumor, it should be removed'. They repeatedly said 'Israel is not legitimate, it should not exist'." ynet

good post. here is more on the MEK: An Iranian mystery: Just who are the MEK? How do you get a group described by the US government as a cult and an officially designated foreign terrorist organisation to be viewed by many congressmen and parliamentarians as champions of human rights and secular democracy? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17615065

although, the comparison of israel's occupation to that of the moroccon occupation are are much different, once again, israeli apologists are trying to justify israel's actions by comparing them to arabs. the same culture and society that they despise and ridicule. the same group of people who they see themselves as better.

“President Obama wants everybody in America to go to college. What a snob.” - Troy, Mich., Feb. 25, speaking to a tea party group. the GOP is a circus show, led by corporations and lobby groups and cheered on by semi-literate 'knobs' who will passionately fight for whatever idiotic agenda that is sold to them. like unnecessary wars, unwavering support for foreign countries that puts americans in danger and the cry for tax cuts while advocating for unnecessary expensive wars that can only be paid by tax money. the DMC is a lighter version of the above.

'Toulouse shooting sparks France's largest ever manhunt'

if someone, who was fully aware of their action, murdered a family member, as an individual, i'd want them dead. however, society needs to be better than the individual. -

agreed. one of the reasons for this problem is that they want to understand those in which they don't really know without really making a real and genuine effort. instead, they fill in the blanks with superficial and usually negative images of them and then paint a broad stroke. -

Support from Israel Lobby for Mulcair NDP leadership bid
bud replied to bud's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
i'm curious to know if those who are backing mulcair, know that mulcair is an opportunist who approached the conservatives for a cabinet seat if he were to run as a conservative: ‘A senior Tory says Mr. Mulcair demanded a Cabinet post as the price for him joining the party — a price Prime Minister Stephen Harper was not willing to pay’ topp is right: “I believe if there are two Liberal parties in front of the people of Canada at the next election, people will vote for the real one,” Mr. Topp has said. link -

'Toulouse shooting sparks France's largest ever manhunt'

Officials said the calculating killer who attacked at the school, and who may have used a camera around his neck to film himself, was the same gunman who struck twice last week, killing three French soldiers of North African origin, two of whom were Muslim, and seriously injuring a black paratrooper of French Caribbean origin. The French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, said a "monster" was on the loose. The biggest manhunt in modern French history intensified, with a swath of south-western France down to the Mediterranean saturated with police and army carrying out road and transport checks and police guarding Jewish and Muslim schools and sites across France. link curious to see how this turns out. i wouldn't be surprised if it's someone similar to the norway killer. -
i want you to stop being ridiculous.
