you still don't get it. no one is arguing that our generation is pampered. the argument is that our generation and our children's generation will suffer due to mistakes made by baby boomers. the numbness and lack of passion is due to the failing system that has been nurtured by the baby boomers. our attitude towards the system needs to change, or we'll be going towards some really shitty times. there is plenty of signs of this right now. it's time to admit to it and figure out a way to resolve the issues. wtf? are you trying to justify being under the poverty line? okay? and? we cannot talk about it and try to better ourselves? i obsess over many issues that directly or indirectly effect me, my future and humanity in general. why are you so afraid of engaging in conversation and hearing criticism about your culture? stop being so sensitive and taking everything so personally. everything is not okay. whether we like it or not, america's present and future effects not only canada but all of the world. you can continue to tell me to mind my own business like i have no right to criticize america, but it's not going to happen.

the peak was reached and has passed. for the first time in a while, life expectancy is going to go down instead of up. spoiled kids has nothing to do with what is ahead of them and us. this is not about how you or i feel, this is about the statistics. the percentage of people who are considered middle class is declining and the number of people below the poverty line is increasing. then there is the amount of debt not only carried by the country but also the lack of savings by people. everything is declining in the west and the u.s. is leading the pack. stop being so sensitive when there is criticism of our way of life. time to let go of the past and face reality. those who cannot adapt and change are left behind and if the current trend continues, american people will surely be left behind.

maybe in your lifetime. not sure if you have any kids or grand kids or nephews or nieces, but your attitude and consent for this unsustainable system is going to ruin their world. this injustice is fully supported by the west and the results of the injustices towards the palestinians has an effect on the stability of the world. propaganda and media self-censorship feeding the ignorance of the people sure does wonders. it's not a surprise that the american people are known to be some of the most ignorant and unaware people in the whole world. "top dog". ugh. you're too old for the "my dad can bench more than your dad" way of thinking. america still has the chance to be something special which started with a constitution that's admired around the world. somewhere along the way, it lost its ways and the people consumed themselves with so much artificial stimulants (tv, sports and fastfood), that they've lost the fire, energy and awareness that helped them to progress so rapidly and reach a high level in a short time. the population of the dull minded and semi-literate is increasing which is just fine for the multi nationals who feed on these impressionable people. wars and destruction do not bring wealth to the average person. they only bring wealth to a tiny percentage of people. the middle-class is decreasing and the population of people below the poverty line is increasing. you want to keep your head in the sand, that's your choice.

it's simply unsustainable. u.s. needs to figure out how to pay for things inside america, like the retiring baby boomers (who have ruined the country by sitting quiet and riding the failing system and living in the rat race). the u.s. cannot afford paying for more wars. not in dollars and not in lives. there is no hatred for israel. there is, however, hatred for injustice. i hope israel will survive and thrive while abandoning their reckless, unjust and racist agenda. unwavering commitment is not from sharing values or anything lovey dovey. this unwavering commitment is brought to you by election $ and systematic pressure by the israeli lobby. that's great, you man of heart and integrity. your time is over old man. if america doesn't wake up and give a big boot to the old ways, this downward spiral will reach a point of no return.
-
oops. there you go again with misrepresenting my position. i hope you can get this through your thick head, because i'm not sure how many times i have to repeat it: i want israel to survive and to thrive. at the same time, i want the palestinians to thrive and survive in their own country. the problem is that israel doesn't want to allow a palestinian state and they continue to try to steal more land with the expansion of illegal settlements on palestinian land.

wonderful piece from chris hedges: "The battle for justice in the Middle East is our battle. It is part of the vast, global battle against the 1 percent. It is about living rather than dying. It is about communicating rather than killing. It is about love rather than hate. It is part of the great battle against the corporate forces of death that reign over us . . . And one of the greatest purveyors of this demented ideology of violence for the sake of violence, this flagrant disregard for the rule of domestic and international law, is the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC." link

they became stars in their own little world and they didn't get any from ginger and mary ann. i like your comparison. another unnecessary war is not good for the u.s. just like iraq wasn't and just like afghanistan wasn't. those two adventures should be enough proof for any level-headed human to understand what a terrible mistake it is. but if that's not enough, experts are also voicing their concerns over u.s. being dragged into another war. so yeah, i know what's 'good' and what's 'bad'. you and the rest of baby boomers really f*cked up north america. i know you're old and have lived this life for a long time, but it's never too late to come clean and stop pretending that this system works.

the skipper and his little buddy got shipwrecked together. how do i know? from your own words. you support an attack on iran even though it's bad for the u.s. you support a group like aipac even though they've been caught spying on israel.
-
just because you think you do, it doesn't mean that it's actually identical. america is going downhill and it's because of people like you who are allowing it to.
-
if you were a true american patriot, you would not be supporting groups like aipac who put israel first and put americans in danger with their agenda. israel firsters are not american patriots.
-
you support israel with your tax dollars whether you want to or not. it's not your choice. you're a fake american patriot. you're an israel firster.
-
an american lobby group that puts israel before america. an american lobby group whose staff has been caught spying for israel. and you're an american who supports this organization. what kind of an american patriot are you? sort of. as the girl said, "young jews are being silenced on campus". you didn't even watch the video old man.
-
it has to do with aipac. i'm jew baiting by pointing out jews who are speaking out against aipac.
-
there was also the occupy AIPAC, led by young jews who don't recognize AIPAC as their representative

the zionist lobby was out in full force this weekend, flexing their muscle. u.s. senators and congressmen who receive millions of dollars from the influential lobby group were also pressing obama. at the end, obama, the salesman made comments that tried to please everyone but he seems to have stuck to his guns. here are some of his comments: diplomacy? That is where we are today. Iran is isolated, its leadership divided and under pressure. And the Arab Spring has only increased these trends, as the hypocrisy of the Iranian regime is exposed, and its ally – the Assad regime – is crumbling. Of course, so long as Iran fails to meet its obligations, this problem remains unsolved. The effective implementation of our policy is not enough – we must accomplish our objective. In that effort, I firmly believe that an opportunity remains for diplomacy – backed by pressure – to succeed pleasing the hawks: Iran's leaders should know that I do not have a policy of containment; I have a policy to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. And as I've made clear time and again during the course of my presidency, I will not hesitate to use force when it is necessary to defend the United States and its interests. conclusion: Already, there is too much loose talk of war. Over the last few weeks, such talk has only benefited the Iranian government, by driving up the price of oil, which they depend upon to fund their nuclear program. For the sake of Israel's security, America's security, and the peace and security of the world, now is not the time for bluster; now is the time to let our increased pressure sink in, and to sustain the broad international coalition that we have built. Now is the time to heed that timeless advice from Teddy Roosevelt: speak softly, but carry a big stick. link

are you talking about israel? because everything you said is correct except that israel already has WMD.
-
as i have repeated many times, i know that the iranian government's internal politics against its own people is quite despicable. however, this post was made to counter a few posters' continuous effort to paint iranians as jew haters who want to eliminate all jews like the nazis had planned. this includes you who advocates an attack on iran because iran wants to 'exterminate jews'.
-
it's the focal point of the conflict between the west and the middle east. you cannot escape it. the elections do not need to be fixed. the reformers have either boycotted the elections or are on house arrest. from what i've read there is a power struggle between ahmadinejad and khamenei.

saw this earlier today and thought i'd share this piece which counters the picture that some people try to paint in regards to iran and its over 25000 jews:

Experts Say Iran Attack Is Irrational, Yet Hawks Are Winning the Debat
bud replied to bud's topic in The Rest of the World
the west is not always wrong but their bullying and imperialism is. so is their double standards on issues such as who it's okay to have nukes and who is not. i think israel/pakistan/india/etc. having nukes is not any less dangerous than iran having nukes. the iranian clerics would not be suicidal to use them. it's not just me who thinks this, but also the experts both in the u.s. and israel. i'm talking about the real experts such as generals and heads of mossad and idf. -
Is Making Jihadi Notes in Afghan Koran a Desecration?
bud replied to jbg's topic in The Rest of the World
now imagine if you were a foreigner occupying canada. how would canadians feel about your action? another thing is that i see the koran burning as a trigger to an already deep dislike for an occupier who has killed thousands of their people. like for example, the (accidental) bombing of at least 2 weddings that i remember happening. obama did the right thing by at least apologizing for the stupid disrespectful act by a group of kids who have been given guns to fight a neverending war. the same group of kids who piss on dead afghans and then post the video online. the same kids who take body parts of dead afghans as trophy. their anger towards the occupier is justified, but some of the actions that they've taken is not. -

this is all about power. it's wrong to believe that they allow religion to guide them. they use religion and their interpretation and the manipulation of it to justify their actions. what do most of these horrible people have in common? their positions and power make them and their gang a lot of money. they don't give a shit about religion. those who are in power in iran are not about to lose their power by doing something suicidal, like attack israel. not with nuke carrying u.s. subs pointing right at them from the persian gulf. why would they want to lose all of the wealth they've accumulated in the 30 years they've been in power? they control three of the biggest industries in iran; oil, banking and construction. so they will poke and piss off people around them just enough to be disliked so that they have an enemy. an outside enemy and a state of emergency allows for more grip and control of the country. you can see a similar scenario in varying degrees all around the world including in israel and u.s.
