  1. I would have thought the statement that states she's not going to go to the BCHRT and collect her cheque provides all the clarity necessary.
  2. Direct quote, if true: They're pretty clear on their stances of homosexuality. The issue isn't what happened to the teacher, the issue is the fact that the school receives public monies, safe bet this is going to ignite a firestorm debate over it.
  3. I fit that mold precisely, I agree with you're analysis. Call it FisCSoL, I'll defend you're right to do it, but don't expect me to pay for it.
  4. +1 But she'll get paid all right, far in excess of what the contract stipulates if she's got any sense.
  5. They went from 47,000 general election votes to 192,746 in the span of 4 years, with two seats at the European parliament of all places to boot. Quite an achievement for them. I wouldn't rule them out either. There very existence is evidence of a problem.
  6. Really? You've never decided which check-out to use based on the apparent performance of the cashier? Decided not to use college-pro painters because those young kids really can't care or know what they're doing? Dis-regarded what a child said, because they're a child regardless of education? I can go on forever, there are billions. That's a pretty bold statement.
  7. It's the notion that we discriminate every day, in everything we do. From something like the smartest Realtor in the world, with all of the reg's and methods memorized off the top of his head, not getting hired by the agency because he's 24 and too young to be taken seriously, to crossing the street because you see a future nobel prize winner dressed like tupac with a bulging hip, and you don't want any trouble. A potential employer will discriminate by not hiring you, based on your demeanor and manners. Is that your fault that was what you were raised with? We all discriminate to one extent or another, and we all pre-judge to one extent or the other, so the interesting thing is which particular discrimination are targeted by the law, gender, religion, sexual orientation and skin color. If somebody filed discrimination based on age, appearance, demeanor and a thousand other things, they wouldn't get off the ground.
  8. Time will tell. It's not a court of law, and said ethics do not apply.
  9. BCHRT, guaranteed victory = $$$$.
  10. Interesting. I've played around a little bit through the years, would like to at some point get more seriously into it. Going camping in our Canadian rockies in two weeks, 6,000 ft elevation. Came across the opportunity to pick up a CELESTRON PowerSeeker 80EQ , for pretty much nothing. I know enough about telescopes to know you need to spend some cash to get anything decent, but not expecting the internet Hubble images, just something to start with, at absolute best something like this. Wondering if it'd be worth it. Thanks for any opinions.
  11. Just glancing through the annual; Board members receive $2000.00 in excess just to attend meetings. Not really relavant, but fun fact. Last year CBC TV revenued $250M, programming cost $460M, so that's 1/5th of it. I'm certain if we look hard enough, we can account for all.
  12. Hockey, but that's not because of the CBC. That nature of things is OK, but they'd find another network. I can stand the National, it's OK. The rest of it, trash pile.
  13. No. If the CBC was run by Ezra Levant & Mark Steyn, would you still want it?
  14. The Liberals haven't been a centrist party for a while now.
  15. Nuke 'em. Pay tax for what we need, nothing more. I can't fathom the idea that we spend such monies as a billion on the CBC, funding for city events, etc, when we still have homeless problems, we still have people waiting 6 months for surgeries that drastically alter quality of life, etc.
  16. What a delicious South Park episode it would make. Her charter guaranteed freedom from discrimination is taken away by the charter guaranteed freedom to discriminate.
  17. Aren't you going to put the United States on that list?
  18. A rational thinker would think so, but out here the James led NDP has stumbled so badly that to most voters, their is literally no alternative. Most people still have a bad taste in their mouth's from Glen Clark, and she's just made it worse with things like candidates being pulled for anti-zionist agenda's, the 50% of candidates must be gay/female/non-white/etc policy, bringing back Moe S, candidates being booted for, "Being impressed with Slobodan Milosevic," and testifying to his defense, etc. People were saying exactly the same things in the last election, but all they brought to the table was, "Gordon Campbell bad, NDP good." 3 years is a long way away.
  19. Comedy central is owned by Viacom, which also own Paramount, among other things, the studio for the Mission Impossible series and it's well known Scientologist star. Potentially trying to keep others in line, but they simply cannot censor South Park for any length of time, Parker & Stone have threatened to go to another network. Trivia: Did you know the voice of Chef was a Scientologist?
  20. I think in the case of the CBC it's become cultural, and will be rather difficult to implement such change.
  21. Can you interpret that? Had a quick read through and didn't see anything that jumped out, curious as to what specifically it is.
  22. I think Timothy McVeigh pretty much proved you don't need an airplane. The problem is confidence. The media sensationalises, public gets scared, government has to 'appear' to be doing something. There need not be any threat at all, but if the public perceives one, confidence is lost and the airlines suffer with there usual effect on economics. If everybody came to the realisation that you're far more likely to get eaten by a shark than fall victim to violence in the air, the security measures would be minuscule. But instead we get news reports like this: Emirates flight suffers air pocket fall, plunges 15,000 feet.... But really only 200 feet if the body of the article is read. Thus we get public fear.
  23. The kangaroo courts are numbering their own days with conduct like this. Still waiting to hear if Guy Earle is guilty of insulting a heckler while he was doing stand-up. My all time favorite though, is the Pre-Op Transgender that filed against the Ladies Gym owner for not letting him enter the womens change room. Case went to court, was tossed, but not before the gym owner incurred $20,000 in legal expenses and didn't net so much as an apology.
  24. Not so much fear, you gain experience through events like that. If you don't have to suffer the event, you are better off. Agreed. How though? Big challenge. You mean like the 8 year that sued her parents for grounding her, got the case heard in a court of law, not even the kangaroo court......and won? Just a state of disbelief. I'm glad I was spanked, I'm a better person because it. When I acted up in HS, I got punched, and learned. I don't understand these changes.
  25. Is that tale true that GM was/is the US's largest pensioner and medicare provider?
