Even better, film the protesters and publicly shame them.

Ontario Liberals and the Federal election
Bryan replied to Ash74's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I don't think Wynne comprehends that her campaigning against Harper is actually going to help him win. -
So this is why I'll be voting Conservative

In further reading the policy announcement, it doesn't look like marijuana is even the issue. They're specifically wanting to protect children from hard drugs and addiction. That's what I mean about nuance -- while I am essentially a libertarian when it comes to what adults want to put into their own bodies, I also absolutely believe that we have to do whatever it takes to keep hard street drugs away from kids. That's a very tough middle ground to balance. -

Absolutely. If the anti-CO2 crowd were instead going after NOx, their cause would have significantly more credibility. -

Yeah. I'm not sure what the objective is with this blanket policy. Even most of their base have a much more nuanced stance than what they're advocating. -
Who are these protesters, his PR team? The more they fight him, the more hits his site gets. Besides, he is pretty funny (in an Andy Kaufmann/Dice Clay sort of way). I highly doubt he believe even half the stuff he says. From what I can see, most of it is a troll-job just to watch SJWs lose their minds.

Much lower for much longer. Almost everything you can possibly buy has followed the same pattern: you can get far more now for less hours worked.

And it's VERY good for business. I can now charge less than my competitors in the US, and still end up with more in my pocket after the exchange. -

True. As I've said many times, the bar is set very low. -

We have an excellent option already in power. The best government this country has ever had, and one of the best in the world right now. I would not call the results you get with most examples of PR "cooperation". More like extortion. PR gives you minorities and perpetual coalitions where the party with the plurality is incapable of carrying out the platform they were elected on. Fringe parties are on the fringe for a reason, we need to get them further away from power, not closer to it. -

The only real problem with our current system is that it already encourages too many parties to participate. The campaigns are a clusterf**k of screaming inconsistencies, and when you end up with minority governments, that simply means the whole campaign was a farce because you now can't implement the platform that you were elected on. If you don't have official party status, you should not be allowed to speak or vote in the house. -
No I wasn't. I was commenting on how the opposition game is played (regardless of the topic).

You can wait all you want, I never made any such claim.

It is bizarre how that game is played. If it's bad, it's your fault. If it's good, it's something that you had no part in. That's another thing that the moderators could do in these debates -- stop someone when they make a claim that is not under control of the federal government.

As it does coast to coast, and neighbourhood to neighbourhood.

Yes. Are you?

No, I care. If I'm mistaken, he's free to correct me.

Are you a teacher?

May was a lot less crazy than usual, she almost looked like a rational choice for once. Trudeau's "my number is nine" quip was the closest thing to a zinger, and the fact that he showed up and didn't melt down when everyone fully expected him to probably did make him seem like his overall performance was better than it really was. The only gaffe I saw was pretty minor: Mulcair losing his place on his closing speech. You could make a drinking game about every time one of the leaders calls out "that's not true". One thing I'd like to see is fact checking on the fly by the producers of the program. When participants are disagreeing about facts, post which one is telling the truth on screen. A lot of people don't follow politics nearly as much as we do here, and they have no idea which one is correct when multiple people insisting that their wildly different numbers are correct.

Am I thinking of someone else, or did you say you were a teacher? If so, I truly fear for our children.

Atheist Minister Fights to Keep her Job
Bryan replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Religion & Politics
In this case, the religious conviction IS the job. You can be removed from any job if you're no longer capable of doing it. -
Anyone who makes more than $34,000 a year is in the 1% globally.

Atheist Minister Fights to Keep her Job
Bryan replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Religion & Politics
For the United Church, this is not all that weird. They have basically been the church for people who don't believe in anything specific for quite some time. It was only a matter of time before they attracted a minister who felt the same way. Maybe this will be a wakeup call for the whole denomination to get back to basics. -
Polls? Be suspicious of the New Hidden Closet
Bryan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Unionized employees get that a lot too, especially public sector. -
Independents do win seats from time to time. All politics is local.
