Yikes. I doubt many Conservatives would want to see a coalition with the NDP. Short term gain for long term pain.
-
Probably for the best. Your understanding is so limited, you don't seem capable of having an intelligent conversation about it.
-
You need to study history. The GG's "powers" are ceremonial. The one time the GG ever had the gall to assume his powers were real, it was kind of a big deal.
-
I'm still waiting for you to present any.

The GG absolutely will go to another election if the Prime Minister tells him to.
-
No, but clearly you did. That's NOT how our system works. The Prime Minister remains Prime Minister even if he loses confidence in the house, even if he loses a election. Nothing happens contrary to that unless he advises the GG to do it.
-
Yes. November 2008 fiscal update, prorogation, coalition.... any of that ring a bell?

The Governor General will do whatever the Prime Minister "advises" him to do.
-
Perpetually. Wishfull thinking is believing that would ever happen. David Johnson is not Julian Byng. Besides, neither the LPC nor NDP would take the chance on the level of voter outrage they'd face if they tried it anyway.

It's ridiculous piece of fiction.

Ignatieff didn't have a choice, and neither would Trudeau. The Conservatives can afford to go right back to another election campaign, Liberals need time to rebuild the nest egg.

Something is messed up with polling in the last decade or so. That they're wrong is one thing, but they they are usually wrong in the same fashion (under-reporting conservative support) is quite another. Are Conservatives less likely to answer polls?

What would force each of the federal leaders to resign?
Bryan replied to ScottM's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Socialists are an even smaller minority. Most people are right in the middle, willing to give anyone a try if what they happen to be selling lines up with what they feel they need at the time. Conservatives have been successful in recent years because they moved to the middle. -

To see who has more support than the others. Everyone else so far has had even less support than him. -

It will be interesting to see what happens in Papineau. The last poll for that riding that I saw had Trudeau running well behind. If he loses his own seat, it seems likely that he'll be the one who steps down first. The other parties won't be able to afford to vote against the CPC for quite a while. Even with a thin minority, Harper would be safe for at least a year. -
That's a good idea. What colour would they be... black? With an eye looking through the loop?

Canada Gives Up Military Independence
Bryan replied to Big Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
From what I can assertion from the article, this idea is not coming from the government either. The Canadian forces are working on the idea in principle, but have not even presented anything to anyone in cabinet yet. -
I want an "I vote to defund CBC" sign.

Canada Gives Up Military Independence
Bryan replied to Big Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I've neither seen nor heard anything about full integration, but our militaries are already integrated a lot more than most people think. I have friends who are Canadian military personnel that spend more time on US bases than Canadian ones. Many US servicemen are stationed at Canadian bases as well. -
I'm still waiting for you to make a valid point.

I never said they did. Try actually reading the posts before you comment. Apparently it's VERY difficult for you to understand much of anything.
-
If they chose to, they absolutely could. It would be fully within their rights to do so.

Many government departments have all manner of policies that are not specified by law. If you're told to take a number and sit down, you do it. If you're told to uncover your face, you do it.
