  1. Have you ever considered that perhaps the impression you gained was the intended result the media wanted you to get? Yes he certainly should have, I mean we all know how much the Conservatives control Eastern Canadian media Again, the whole 'focus here' and 'focus there' doesn't work when the media is not on your side or your payroll. Oh thats right, they should be happy they got backstabbed by a media whore who then got appointed to a minister for the opposition. Add to that the fact of her crossing the floor completely screwing them politically and yeah, they should have thrown her a keg party. I dont see how that is, in any way, the wrong way for a leader to behave. I think almost everyone in the country has anger for the Liberals, except their elitist supporters in the Universities and Colleges (the ones who actually vote) of course =p While we both agree Harper has done well considering the fate of his predecesors, I do think it has alot to do with their homeland. I have had Liberals tell me they didn't want an 'Albertan government' in power and have seen them be backed up by other Liberals, this tells me it has alot more to do with location than policies. As for his mistakes, he is human and will have many... its always amazing how forgiving the media is of Liberals, try and imagine a Conservative government getting caught with the kind of crap they are pulling up now on the Liberals =p
  2. In case you haven't been keeping up on Canadian Healthcare, we aren't the best anymore =p As for costs for healthcare, we have to pay for it. Premiums are a cost, not only that but we have to pay partially for everything they do, plus they dont cover prescriptions. So if we have to pay premiums constantly, plus pay partially for a regulated service, and also pay for our own prescription drugs how exactly is the public system so much better than the private? Oh yeah, and lets not forget the brain drain to the south (where they pay more for good doctors) and 6-12 month waiting lists, yeah your really convincing me Canada has a better healthcare system. As for Ralph Klein, he and the Tories already have reduced their own benefits and pay rates to below the national average so s.t.f.u. Thanks =)
  3. Exactly, and Alberta has AT LEAST the economy and industry (other than oil-generated) of BC and/or Sask. We might not be filthy rich without oil, but we would be no worse off than BC. Add to that we will be able to spend this surplus oil money furthur developing our economies, cutting corporate taxes (thereby improving our industrial sector) and by the time the oil runs out we will still be miles ahead =) Did the Tories get re-elected? Then obviously the majority is ok with it, or (like in Federal Politics) the majority are just too dam lazy to do anything about it. The sad thing is, like I posted earlier, the more you regulate the more you discourage development in your province. Therefore you can either create a nanny-state or have higher costs of living, higher standard of living, surpluses, more freedoms, and more job opportunities So wait, your pissed at that.. yet the Liberals get just over 30% of the nations votes and is, in your opinion, ok to push through legislation and rule with a majority government? o.0 Yeah that outdated electoral system is kind of universal to Canada, hence why we should follow the USA model... you know, the one that works? True, as it seems you never need to rely on them yourself... being a socialist and all, if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside it must be the right thing =) Its always interesting how much Alberta in general is hated and demonised by the rest of Canada, yet another reason why we shouldn't be part of this confederation. Haha it was funny, last night (Canada day) me and my buddies went out to the fireworks and drinking etc... you know, Canada day stuff. But the entire evening I was randomly stopping and asking people if they were Albertan or Canadian first. I only had 1 person say they were Canadian, that was a chick visiting here from BC.. and she was not at all into politics. I guess you could say when that sort of thing happens on your national holiday, it shows that in Alberta there exists a powder keg right now.. all it will take is an actual leader and Seperatism will flare dangerously =p But heck, you guys dont want us around anyways, we are all just stupid hillbillies, right? =)
  4. Just ask anyone on the California power grid how well its working. Ohh yeah... in Ontario where energy derregulation was brought in by the Harris tories, there is now talk about the need for rolling blackouts. YAY for deregulation... it really works ohh so well  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You blame a rising need for electricity on the Tories? That is not very logical, so I suggest you don't pursue that. What!? Do you own a home? I doubt that anyone is happy about this particular policy change. Do you run a business? I was a manager for a meduim-sized business when they deregulated and I nearly fell on my head when I looked at how much it cut into profits. This was no small increase for businesses buddy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No I don't own a home, but I dont see what owning a house has to do with deregulation. If you are refering to utilities (like electricity, at least I guess that is what you are refering to) then I am still confused as to how that supports your argument. Are you saying deregulation is allowing companies to charge what their services are worth, and that is a bad thing? I dont believe in the sweat shop mentality, and I don't believe in the government being able to regulate everything. It doesn't work people, stop trying.
  5. What I find amusing is how Mulroney is still remembered as a corrupt, terrible politician after all this time... by the same people that are constantly voting in the Liberal government =p Mulroney - Introduces GST to replace FST, shifting taxation off corporations and broaden out the load. Liberals use this to overturn his government, all the while promising to destroy the tax if they are elected. Liberals are elected and suddenly they realize the tax was needed, so we still have it. Canadians use Mulroney as a scapegoat for decades, and the Liberals still have people terrified of letting in another Conservative government =p Chretian/Martin - Get caught in countless scandals and legal issues, investigated for anything from syphoning funding to many dummy programs to outright funding of campaign supporters. Billions missing and unaccounted for. Canadians continue to re-elect them regardless, anyone daring to question the wisdom of the Liberals is branded a fascist and an irrational fear of another Mulroney continues to keep the Conservatives out of power. Makes you wonder who the real idiots are (rednecks? I think not)
  6. Yes it will, once it has been much more phased out of our everyday lives. Read my post AND the post I was refering to before replying please, your not helping the discussion. The fear of deregulation is a socialist fear, however capitalists and true supporters of mixed systems dont find it nearly so imposing. Your point is only relevant to those with the same ideology as you, and therefore should not have been used to try and convince me of... well, anything =p What exactly are you talking about?
  7. Oil is a resource that will always have a use, but yes it will someday become much much cheaper... but until then, we should be using that revenue to continue in developing Alberta's other industries and services. As for Klein, he might not be perfect, nobody is. But at least he doesn't lie and try to convince us he is an angel, that and the fact his party hasn't screwed us over like some other governments *Looks at Trudeau* If there was an actual good alternative, from a party with Alberta's (not the rest of Canada's) best interest at heart we would vote them in =) Currently that is Klein's government, and for some of us there is also the Seperatist party.
  8. I prefer figuring out why they are pissed off at the indians or those 'blacks'. You see, one common fault with left-wing thinking is that if your a minority then tolerance forgives all. It doesn't, in fact I am disgusted with how much first nations and other minorities can get away with that, should a caucasion attempt it, would result in jail time and/or fines. True tyranny has always entered society under the veil of tolerance and understanding, I am at least glad the US citizens aren't afraid to voice their concerns over minorities. I am not supporting actual racism, but I do know that certain minorities do deserve the bad name they have earned on an individual basis. I live in Alberta with Peigan and Blood reserves in the area, and I see our homeless shelters filled with first nations drunks and druggies, I have had friends jumped at night by groups of them, I have had to work with them (and hire them at times) and they have the worst work ethics I have ever seen, and while the rest of the province is working to build ourselves up they are wandering the streets wasted out of their minds wearing clothes and drinking booze our tax dollars paid for. However, that being said, I also personally know alot of First Nations that aren't at all like that, I know some who work hard for a living, who have better work ethics than white people I have hired, who haven't touched alcohol in their lives, who are going somewhere. Like I said, judge them based on an individual basis... the problem is, there is just such a higher % of these minorities that are bums than there are caucasions. So I think the same thing will apply down south =p Ironically the government keeps creating these barriers to 'protect' the minorities, yet all it does is continue to break us more apart. You can't create an equal society by building barriers, and in the case of First Nations in Canada it is only serving to cripple and hurt them.
  9. We dont want the cost of a lumbering, incompetent government constantly weighing us down is more like it. I dont understand the mentality of anyone that thinks by paying more and more people to do less and less we are progressing anywhere. It is a pointless circle of poverty. Just look at Sask.
  10. Well it was pretty wet here in Lethbridge for a while... but not nearly so bad as a couple years back hehe, the old man river was swelled so much it flooded an RV park that was just below the highway going over the river itself Out down Highway 4 in the low parts there was serious flooding though, lakes appeared overnight... was kind of cool lol Saw one house in a lower portion of land in 3 feet of water, felt sorry for the owner x.x
  11. Its easy to have a surplus when you cut funding to... well, everything =p You just like seeing the bottom line, conservatives like to know where that money came from and where it goes That is true money management
  12. If you are going to create a religion-free environment in the government and public institutes do the following: 1) Eliminate the theory of Evolution from our science books, it isn't right to shove theories and beliefs on others (as you enjoy to say) 2) Ban anything pro-atheistic/pro-agnostic/pro-humanistic from the public spectrum, same reason as above its just a belief that is being imposed on others 3) Fire the Liberal party, considering they have been consistently elected even though their leader's are predominantly Catholic 4) Eliminate pro-Gay ads, commercials, anything. More pressuring people to believe differently. 5) Heck with it, ban EVERYTHING because lets be serious using the extremely broad filter of the left-wing ANYTHING could be construed as intolerant if they so desire... yet another reason socialism is a waste of time. This is retarded, either ban everything or call yourselves intolerant and continue to ban only Christian values, texts, and symbols.
  13. So you are outright saying stereotypes for conservatives are right but stereotypes for Liberals are wrong? Or what exactly are you trying to say? LoL, careful Also, when did I call you a name? o.0 Implication is hardly fact, rather it is a thing of perspective... especially if you are claiming it logically. That is not proof or fact, so I will ignore it and any furthur ramblings/conspiracy theories about this. Put simply, your first sentance basically moots your entire original post meaning I won the point. This extra mumbo jumbo about segregation was not part of the original argument, but since you seem to think it so important I suppose we could discuss it. Segregation in and of itself proves nothing, it is merely seperation of people based on race/sex/sexual orientation/etc. To deny that such seperate qualities do not exist is ignorance, and to expect every different people/race/sex/etc to all co-exist perfectly and in harmony is also ignorance. Therefore segregation will ALWAYS exist, because by nature a perfect society is impossible. That said, expecting everyone to accept homosexuals is also ignorance, since to some it might be ok to be gay and to others downright disturbing. Most people however dont have a problem with gay people that practice their homosexuality behind closed doors (like most straight couples do until marriage). However when segregation becomes a problem is when one group tries to take and change something that another group has had for a very long time, in this case marriage. Redefining a tradition of another group is not a very nice thing to do, and if it was a white man trying to redefine a tradition of some native tribe there would be hell to pay... which is why it is interesting that nobody has a problem with homosexuals trying to redefine heterosexual tradition. However most (not all but most) heterosexuals wouldn't mind civil unions because it is not threatening traditional marriage. That is of course strictly non-religious people, as religious people have many many more reasons to not accept homosexuality or homosexual marriage. I also agree that you shouldn't pay for my wife to stay at home =) Not really, since as I say later I have a mix of religions (including plenty of atheists, as I am involved in Computer Sciences) and almost all of them are Conservative. The 'right-wing religion' isn't nearly so real as most on the left fear. No we just live in a Mormon town, that doesn't mean we attend the church (although I do have alot of Mormon friends as a result) Those that dont go to church are treated great, you could ask them but as for my experiences with other religions I am not a part of... they treat me and my friends very well. That logic also sounds socialist, you know since alot of people are smoking pot anyways lets legalize it.. but that is a discussion for another time, just be aware that logic goes both ways. As for reporting, they have been repeatedly. The problem is the system doesn't work, and it is terribly easy to get welfare in Canada. That is why I dont support our current systems, it is to much empathy and not enough research. Welfare is not for bums and people who dont want to work, it is for people who CANT work. At least that is the way it is supposed to be. The free market can apply wherever it wants, but when you have centralized management that controls the farmers market it is kind of hard to do anything in that free market... in fact one could say it actually isn't that free at all.
  14. The problem is Harper won't be able to do anything even IF he manages to get into power...why? Because the socialists of this country would blow a stink bomb every time they tried, and unless they had a majority government and used it like the Liberals to push everything through nothing could be changed. This is why the Canadian system is so pointless, and why the US system is so much better. Voting the party line is basically spitting in the face of true democracy, having the PM be the elector of the Supreme Court Judges totally eliminates the reason they are there, etc etc The budget passing just proves that Liberals are entirely too blinded by their loyalty to their party, but the final straw will be if they aren't ousted once the Gomery ordeal has been furthur audited. I mean, imagine if this sort of 'corruption' was discovered in a ruling Conservative government, can you IMAGINE the sh*tstorm that would result? But since it is a Liberal government everything has been rationalized and ignored to the point where they aren't even going to lose power. This is horrendous and proves that confederation should be dissolved, it is obvious our country cannot function anymore if a majority of the people in it are willing to screw themselves over just to re-elect the same party screwing them. As Einstein said "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Liberal re-election is insanity.
  15. You basically played every stereotype about Conservatives, it makes me wonder what exactly you are trying to prove? Nothing you have said is factual, in fact I would say most of it is partisan BS I wont even touch this one, thanks for putting words in my mouth though... had trouble doing it myself =p Hmmm, interesting... so what about people that ARENT religious that dont support homosexual marriage? I guess they just couldn't exist since it is only religion that has a problem with them right?... LoL Oh yeah, and what about civil unions? Or didn't you know that most conservatives aren't opposed to them? Of course you knew that, I mean it is obvious in your extremely well-thought-out post. Yet more wisdom from the all-knowing left, I guess a housewife is less than dirt in your eyes then? What if the woman chooses to work at home? Is that not her own choice? Why are you forcing women into the workforce, isn't that for woman's rights what affirmative action was for racism? Also I dont understand where you are getting the deterioration of 'traditional family values' coming from women rights being a concern for conservatives, since some of the staunchest (and knowledgable) supporters of Conservatism are women themselves =p Public institutes and level playing field for all people? Sure why not. Special rights, legalities, and exemptions? Not a chance, that isn't equality. You are mixing up preferential treatment with equality. Conservatives are all for equality, we just aren't for pampering and crippling minorities. 90% of my best friends don't go to church, and I do. Redneck Yokel (poster on this site) is one of them, and he is a Buddhist Conservative. Try again sherlock. Not to mention we both live in a Mormon town, and our circles of friends contain almost every religion on earth (including Islam, I work with immigrants from Iran and Afghanistan regularly) As for AISH and the other welfare you are complaining about, start looking into who actually claims it and you will find most of them aren't really handicapped at all =p I know 3 families personally who are on AISH and one is a second generation AISH family (parents lived on it and passed on the 'heritage' to their children). Nobody in their families are disabled. Whats wrong with supporting Farmers? or maintaining Rural servers and roads? Isn't that what the government is supposed to do? Oh yeah, and helping oil development, wow that is just stupid man... I mean, heck, you guys thought it was dumb a few decades ago, it totally didn't pay off though... I mean, its not like we are debt-free now or anything =p As for the Liberals winning the next election, I am disgusted enough that they weren't overthrown with the budget. I personally hope the Liberals win the next election so Albertans will suddenly realize the East (at least the socialist Easterners) doesn't care about the country at all and would rather have a proven corrupt government in power rather than one supported by the West. I think its a good time for a revolution =) In closing, the act of 'voting for the monster you know' is worse than not voting at all.
  16. I truly hope the Liberals win this next election, because then it will give the seperatist movements in both Western Canada and Quebec the boost they need to leave the tyranny of Ontario Liberalism Sooner or later Ontario is going to have to realize that the country shouldn't revolve around their every whim, and if it takes seperation to make that so then so be it.. it is by their own hand =)
  17. Of course, but the issue we are discussing doesn't have the option of getting charges changed due to 'motivation'. Unlike a murder, where the sentance and guilt/innocence can be affected by motivation, desertion is very black and white. You desert, you are a traitor and a criminal. End of Story. Motivation isn't something legally binding in that context, and aren't socialists all about legalities? I never claimed invading Iraq was serving the defense needs of the USA, don't bring up new issues under the cover of the current discussion. We are discussing the legality of soldiers deserting the armed forces, not the legality of the Iraqi war. I am glad we agree on a couple points at least hehe So your argument is that because some wrong has been done in the past it is ok to repeat it? That would at least explain the re-election of the Liberal government so many times haha... If not please expound as I can't really respond to this without at least one example of a relevant conciencious objector. Correct me if I am wrong but the USA did wait for the UN to do 'its thing' (Inspectors and such). But as I recall that was dragging on to infinity with no end in sight, while more and more time was wasted 'talking' about direct violations of UN sanctions/resolutions (17 as far as I can recall). Source: http://www.state.gov/p/nea/rls/01fs/14906.htm What is the point of an international 'peacekeeping' organization that will not uphold its own resolutions/sanctions? Truth is there is no point, it is just a very large and very expensive organization with no real purpose other than constant never-ending discussion. So you support the ousting of a tyrannical dictator but you dont support the Iraq invasion? Make up your mind please. If the USA really was such a danger to the global community they would fight back, look at WW2. So yes, military or otherwise, a coalition would have been formed if any REAL evidence of misconduct, corruption, or conspiracy was found. It is a legal war, just France and its buddies are a little peaved that they can't steal oil anymore and are making a fuss about it. Thank you, likewise. Thats true USA was not directly attacked by Iraq, however that doesn't justify the desertion of the army. There are other reasons the war was started (the most important being the liberation of the Iraqi people, and the possibility of WMD). Nothing can justify the desertion of the army because the contract they signed with the Army didn't leave that option, and they commited a crime by breaking that agreement whether they are justified in their mind or not. LoL too true too true Intensity of insurrection doesn't constitute war, however if Bush had said 'the fight is over' I would agree he is lying. The war was won, but the battle was not. He even said that Iraq was going to take alot of work to settle down, and I respect him even more since he has stuck with the reconstruction (and coincidently his word) regardless of the harm it does to his public image abroad. 1) Exactly 2) Its not a question of whether or not the USA 'needs' our help, its more an issue of whether we offered it. North America is hated whether Canadians want to admit it or not, we are right up there with the Americans since we are a 'have' nation almost identical society-wise. We have to provide a united front if we hope to survive. 3) Waiting until the very last minute to flatline the missile defence was considered leading, since I recall news outlets talking about the controversy surrounding Martin's seeming support of the Missile Defence. If I am wrong I apologise. However I still cannot fathom why Canada wouldn't join in an agreement that cost us nothing and improved our completely useless defences. Accepted. If they said that the entire world would explode in rage about the USA rampaging around taking out people for no point other than 'to take them out'. There needed to be a reason, so instead of supplying only one they supplied a few. Its true the end should not justify the means, but last I checked the end didn't justify the means. The end result was the freedom of the Iraqi people, more stability in the ME, and the overthrow of a terrorist-funding dictator. The means was a war since nothing else worked. Hitler believed in dominating and subjugating the entire world under his Aryan race, that is slightly different than Bush trying to provide democracy to some Arabs lol Agreed, and likewise to you =)
  18. I read enough to know that you do not listen to any REAL news sources. You explained his reasons for always changing his reasons for his illegal invasion of Iraq. I did get my information from many many sources; Canadian, British, and American. I did serious research during that period as I was on a serious, well moderated forum hosted by Canada's Foreign Affairs Dept. I did read articles suggested by those supporting the Bush lead illegal invasion of Iraq. You, my dear Hawk, should take your own advice and find your information from a variety of sources. Don't just read and believe that which suits your narrow outlook. caesar you just spent a portion of your life doing what you do best, opinionated posting. Point out anything in your previous post that has anything to do with mine and PocketRockets discussion, or should I say, anything that adds to the conversation. Is that too hard?
  19. Fascinating display of complete emotion, you did not address me previous posts so please keep your emotions in check or break it down so I dont have to search through this mess of rants and opinion. I await an actual response.
  20. Your right, I guess you learned alot from the Liberal reign of terror in Canada... eh? Which ones, the ones in area 41 or the ones in secret deaths camps run by Republican KKK members?
  21. Thats true, it might not make up a huge part of the total Canadian education system but it creates a gap between first nations and the rest of Canada. The same way as reserves create barriers. If we want to truly be an equal society of mixed cultures we can't continue to allow our government(s) to erect walls between our societies, we must break them down so we are all truly equal. Getting back to the point, eliminating freebies for first nations would also provide some extra funding for other projects, it might not be huge but it would certainly help. Not to mention that getting first-nations off the reserve and into the tax system would help as well. As for the rising costs and expansion of post-secondary overhead, I would like to know why it keeps rising? I dont understand why teachers keep getting raises while the rest of us are left to pick up the tab, our post-secondary system is going to end up bureaucratic again; with only the richest being able to attend, therefore allowing only them access to high-paying jobs. The sad part is that even our government-funded colleges and universitites, whose purpose for government funding is to provide cheaper schooling for the public, are getting to the point where most people can't afford to attend them. We need to cap some costs (such as salaries) or we are going to end up with alot of unedcuated people living off of welfare rather than working at McDonalds. Well I recall the Liberals promising alot of things, as they always have. The problem is they consistently fail to deliver on those promises, which is why it is simply amazing that people continue to re-elect them. Lets just say I will believe them when I see the 13 billion spent on the military, not to mention 13 billion wont go far considering how much they have allowed the military to erode. As for writing to Klein, its not necessary since Alberta doesn't even have PST =) I believe he should provide tax relief to Albertans with the surplus, either that or devote it to the Health-care plan he summarized at the Premieres convention in Ottawa.
  22. A man holding a smoking gun while standing over a body has the benefit of the doubt, while someone that deserts the army does not. There is no possiblity he 'didn't' desert the army, that was a terrible example. Your right its not a crime, but it is a crime to desert the army... the whole reason they offer those benefits is to provide an extra motivational factor for new recruits, that doesn't mean they are offering free stuff for nothing. Far from that, they still expect the people they give free education to serve their time with the army, and the soldiers who deserted voluntarily signed up and knew the risks involved. They have a job to do, and they ran away from it. Your thinking is skewed, because you see the difference between Hintzman and the USA's 'illegal war' is that there is no possiblity that Hintzman didn't desert the army.. That is the crime he commited, so what is the point of a trial? Is it not to determine if the accused is guilty of the crime? Is the crime not deserting? Tell me how a trial is going to prove he didn't desert. Exactly. As for the USA and the UN, your right about the world thinking it was a bad move... but I dont think so, and neither does the majority of US citizens. So I guess it could be reasoned that if there was truly enough evidence against the USA, because of the global animosity against them, that a coalition would have been formed against them. Last I knew that hasn't happened, meaning the proof is inconclusive at best. Opinion is not fact, so global opinion doesn't mean a whole lot to anyone that likes independant thought. Main Entry: traitor Part of Speech: noun Definition: deserter Synonyms: apostate, back-stabber, backslider, Benedict Arnold, betrayer, conspirator, copperhead, deceiver, defector, deserter, double-crosser, fifth columnist, fink, hypocrite, imposter, informer, intriguer, Judas, miscreant, narc, plotter, quisling, rat, rat fink, rebel, renegade, snake, sneak, snitch, snitcher, spy, squealer, stool pigeon, stoolie, tattletale, traducer, treasonist, turncoat, two-timer, whistle-blower, wolf Antonyms: loyalist Source: Roget's New Millennium™ Thesaurus, First Edition (v 1.1.1) Copyright © 2005 by Lexico Publishing Group, LLC. All rights reserved. As a side note, I would like to know why someone would join the mlitary if they were against war? Its not up to the soldiers to determine if the war is just enough to fight for, that is up to the elected officials. If they dont want to fight whoever the elected officials send them to fight they should not have joined up in the first place, rather than wasting tax dollars and stealing free education. We are agreed on the Bloc, I can't believe Canada allowed them to become a federal party. The war IS over, the ruling government was taken out of power and now all that left there is civil unreset. That does not constitute as war, therefore he didn't lie as the war is actually over... now is just the cleanup and stopping of insurrection. Fair enough. Economy: I suppose you could speculate the Canadian economy is on the upswing since the market crash during the great depression. Other than that you will have to provide a rough estimate of the time period or I can't really be sure what you are talking about. Government: Namecalling, childish sulking, arrogance, need I go on? Canada-US relations: A number of things, I will only mention a couple as I dont want to write an essay. 1) Allowing our leaders to portray very anti-American attitudes, to the point of insulting them verbally. 2) Failing to at least stand by the USA during Iraq, we may not have all agreed it was the right move but we should have at least offered aid to the troops that WERE going right off the bat. 3) Martin leads the USA along making them think he is ok with the missile defence plan, then at the last second changes his mind and throws out the plan entirely like a total buffoon. But I suppose that is to be expected of socialist flipfloppers. I did as you asked and skimmed over the previous posts, I also used the search function in my browser to find references to harper on page 1 and 2 and found not a single one... please quote it if it truly does exist. Until then my point remains. Then it wouldn't be the truth now would it? The truth is already out there, the Iraqi invasion was justified, and in 20 years Democrats will be trumpeting like it was there idea in the first place lol Yes it was unnecesary, but if you ignore personal attacks and look at the context of the inults you can usually figure out what people are trying to say. Since he hasn't expounded on my interpretation I will assume it was fairely accurate. It would have been far more viable to simply address them all in a single place, rather than sporadically between your replies. Of course there are choices, the CBC was just a single example since so many people that I have talked to watch that as their only source of news. It was relevant to the discussion since the original poster was displaying frustration about what he believes is the corruption and downfall of the country he loves, based on the context I brought in the CBC since it has biased news coverage for the very political spectrum that he believes is killing Canada. I tend to agree with him, since if you just look at the stats there is certainly something very wrong with where Canada is going.
  23. caesar if you refuse to read my post and would rather emotionally rant at me please take it elsewhere. I explained his supposed 'invention' of new reasons, you are basing that one how the media covered the Iraqi war. CBC perhaps? haha The same goes for your other post addressed to me, you just regurgitated what pocketrocket said earlier in more poorly chosen words.. stop backtracking. Next I will address PocketRocket's reply
  24. If you haven't noticed, the Federal and Alberta governments have huge budget surpluses. Its not hard for the federal government to get a surplus when they keep stripping away funding from areas such as the military, not to mention they better have a surplus with the amount of taxation they have on us. As for the Alberta surplus, I am waiting to see how it is used.. Klein has frozen the tuition currently, which is definitely a good start
  25. First part was irrelevant to the discussion so I will ignore it. The man is labelled as a criminal because deserting the army is a crime, in fact a century ago he would be shot on sight for doing just that so yeah I would say it is safe to assume he is a criminal. If you need a judge and jury to contrive that then perhaps you should invest in some independant thought. And that proves what? You failed to address the point, reread it for real this time. Argue away, there is no proof and therefore it is not a valid point. There was not enough proof to prove Iraq was an illegal war, never did the USA agree to be run by the UN and therefore it doesn't need the permission of the UN to ensure its national security. That is why the USA 'elects' officials for the USA's interests, not the UN's. Not everyone wants a global ruling elite, and I dont mean the USA I mean the UN. Thats true he didn't lie to Canadian Immigration, but then again he is a traitor to his own country... why would you want a traitor to join your ranks? I personally dont want any turncoats in Canada, we have enough of those already. Blah, more nonsense. Actually it was started for a number of reasons, the only problem you are experiencing is that the media concentrated on one thing at a time.. leading to the impression that the Bush administration was changing its' story, and since most of the media outlets are run by anti-American socialists (or at least funded by them) its not hard to imagine why they would want to paint the Republicans this way. Never did Bush lie about Iraq, you can't prove it so dont waste time by trying to speculate or assume anything. When did he say that? You can't prove anything so please stop acting like you can. This is the 3rd time in a single post you have chosen to attack his use of the word 'pinko'. That is truly pathetic, please learn to debate or stop wasting everyone's time (yes, it does take time to read through that dribble) You do have a valid point, it is based on perspective. However, as Canada's economy is flailing, and our currently reigning government has been in office 5 terms with countless scandals and the very factual increase in crime and poverty during its' reign I can see where he/she is coming from when he/she says Canada is going down the toilet... especially when people defend such a government. Actually that was a very bad responce to a very real issue. The Canadian military is in shambles, the Canadian economy is also in shambles, our government embarrasses us consistently on the global stage, and our relations with our closest and most important allies has never been worse in the last century. Please do expound on this, since you seem to think Harper is such a threat to Canada... how do you reason this? Have you seen him in power? Have you noticed scandals at his hands? What exactly has Harper done that makes you believe him to be so damaging if elected? I am interested because you seem to think Harper is worse than re-electing a failed government of proven thieves, con-artists, and lying cowards. There were several reasons he invaded Iraq, maybe you should know a subject before debating it. As for the World Wars, you are right we did it to stop a madman... but I believe the point your quoted poster was trying to make is that the very ideals, morals, and principles those service men/women fought and died for are now seemingly taken for granted in our current society.. even to the point of being ignored or outlawed. 4th time, this is disgusting. Just ignore the word, how hard is it to do that? 5th?? Wow, you really must not have much more to talk about... I will ignore any more of these pointless quotes. Thats true he/she isn't, but he/she does have the right to express his/her frustration with the obvious ignorance of a great number of Canadians. Dependance on the CBC for 'unbiased' newcasting has left a generation of Canadians that would rather be emotionally devoid of facts rather than face the truth.
