  1. Brush up on your Constitution and make the complaint to the Supreme Court. When you do, let us know so we can follow your story. Or better yet, Go urinate on their sacred fire and see how they react. I bet you get punched out before the police arrive. But I am betting it will only take one punch. From a grandmother. As for your Celtic roots, you are free to leave if you don't like it here.
  2. Did they forget to give you the oxycontin pill today gramps?
  3. Because you're in it and they are ashamed.
  4. More Big Government, more massive bureaucracy chewing away at those mystical and mysterious "tax dollars" everyone keeps talking about.
  5. Plus... the capital is in Ontario and Quebec.
  6. They are playing a nice motion style, good short passing to guys in open lanes, it looks really good so far. But then... other seasons have looked 'good so far' only to have the 'Leafs fall in November.' There is a certain kind logic to that old joke. See how they do through til January and weather some injury periods. Then the old Kessel factor. If he can keep it up and not have to be a guy that needs 'a special centreman,' to be consistent, he'll give them a chance. Still waiting on Lupul and a few other guys, but at least they have some depth with guys that know the system. The big concern is the brutal special teams. I wince when they take a penalty and don't get too excited when they go on the powerplay. Still, I wish Rick Nash were a Leaf.
  7. I remember when 'Hen-ery the Eight, I Am, I Am' was on the radio!
  8. He had special, magical skills that make conservative pork barrelling appear altruistic. That transcends the requirement for bilingualism. Or ethics.
  9. Read a few back issues, they address Canadian specific issues. But on the whole they are more like Greenpeace by focusing on problems that have international implications.
  10. That's weird since it is a CPC perogative to create a larger bureaucracy. They'll just add a few more departments and everything will be back to the usual.
  11. Bwa-hahahahahahahahahaha!!! Who do you think pays for the federal government??
  12. Thanks for making my point for me. The other provinces get millions and millions too in "hidden transfer payments" and "transfers" of wealth. Ontario and Quebec make up 2/3rds of Canada's population. Plus there are more bilingual people there that makes them more skilled. Only makes sense since... its the capital.
  13. It's a sacred fire and thus exempt from the usual petty by-laws and such. Brush up on your Constitution son. No one would go to Jane and Finch for a nice leisurely walk either. Maybe the City should get their priorities in order.
  14. Excellent and kudos to OPSEU for being conscious enough to spend money on a good cause.
  15. I am sure there are other factors, other than bilingualism, that would disqualify more Canadians for a high-level government job. That being said, there is nothing saying that the most qualified persons are withing that 18% to begin with. IOW - the best of the best is represented in that 18% of bilingual persons. Especially when bilingualism is required, as per the original qualifications for the AG job. It could be that there were no suitable candidates that were bilingual and they had to settle for their second choice. But there has been no information about this or any magical "skills" that the successful candidate possesses. Thus it looks like the CPC altered the job qualifications to suit political purposes. You know, get the con AG in there so the free for all pork barrelling can begin. It helps to have a friendly AG in there when you are ripping off the public. I agree. Except in positions that require bilingualism and there are plenty of them out there.
  16. It was an innapropriate and hurtful attempt at humour and completely beneath the office that the man is standing for, especially in a country such as ours. But I did chuckle when I heard it.
  17. Was there a vote taken? Because that is democracy at work. Taking polls isn't science, it's politics and often unreliable politics. 85% of the population support what they are doing. See? Anyone can make shit up.
  18. It's not 'kick the public out of public spaces" it's more like, kick the 'wrong type' of the public out of public spaces. Recall: these aren't peaceful, law abiding citizens enjoying their rights as citizens of Canada, the are "illegal squatters" on "public land" with unsanitary living conditions. The right kind of public live across the street in the half million dollar condos.
  19. There are other ways to culture jam too, not just lengthy occupations. As Dre said, it is just getting started...
  20. Absolutely, because my comment provides context to your comedy.
  21. Once again, here is proof you don't know what you are talking about and usually just pull shit out of your ass. English-French Bilingualism Nationally, 43.4% of francophones reported that they were bilingual, compared with 9.0% of anglophones. And that was 10 years ago.
  22. Oh NOW you say you don't have "evidence?" I see. Did you realize this before or after you started a thread about the "Bigoted Liberal Part of Canada?"
  23. And there is no shred of evidence or information that this is the case here. In fact, it looks like blatant Conservative cronyism and nothing more. Tim Harper: Ferguson hung out to dry in either official language Unless, of course, you can come up with this magic, over-riding skill that he posesses that erases job qualifications.
  24. Yep, the minimum requirements suggest an equal footing for the candidates so then it comes down to some other factor or skill that makes the final determination of suitability. What I would like to know is, what that factor or skill is that overrides the minimum requirements in this case. Could be there were no bilingual candidates, which is one factor. If that were the case one would think the disengenuous Liberals would have known that. I mean any monkey can be a manager. As for the app-for-that, which is completely unsuitable for detailed information like being grilled on the hill or giving press conferences or making detailed reports, it looks like they will have to go with an interpreter or have decided to send the new AG to French immersion to meet the original qualifications.
