  1. CIDA has made an "ffort to inform." It's on their website and takes 30 seconds. I sometimes wonder if the herd prefers to remain ignorant. That way, their petty squawking has a built in excuse.
  2. I found the information in 30 seconds from the CIDA website. I bet you didn't even look. You didn't did you?
  3. So? If you don't know how the money is spent, you squawk out of ignorance like a parrot that only knows about the cracker. Personally I think joint ventures with multi-national research organizations for projects such as water, environment, culture, science, etc. are all worth contributions. A lot of the projects appear to be aligned with our share of responsibility with the UN, Pan American agreements, and international policy, study and research organizations. The other side of it is that it is good to have Canadians participating in such projects in those countries for purposes of cultural exchange, trade, spying, market and investment development for Canadian goods and services, etc. Gawd... we wouldn't want that would we??? Market development in foreign countries? You should contact Bev right away scribblet and let her know. Those damned Conservatives and their imperialist agenda!
  4. You really think that is the point be offered?
  5. Isn't this what daylight savings really is anyways?
  6. Is that what we're doing Scribblet? Handing over millions of dollars to them? Big bags of gold or something?
  7. Which culture gets to define what other cultures are civilized and which ones are not valid?
  8. Now is you chance Scribblet. Your beloved Conservatives are in power and they will listen to you. For sure, I can pretty much guarantee you are the type of person they love to talk with. I mean, write Bev Oda a nice hand written note (she likes those) and make your protestations known. No doubt she'll invite you up to her offices to discuss your issues with full seriousness. Let us know how it goes.
  9. Right, because you know those Danes are really scary with all their Vikings and stuff. Oh. Wait. That was a thousand years ago. I'm shhh-akin'. Maybe we can make a trade. Greenland for a couple of cases of Levis and some health care. They'll go for that.
  10. We already had our chance with them and sloughed them off.
  11. I often wonder if people confuse multiethnic with mulitcultural, of if there is little to distingiush between the two. One writer I am reading describes multiculturalism as the post-modern concept of cultural plurality. Even still, as multicultural as we are, the common language of cultural dialogue is largely in English and, to a lesser degree, French. Insofar as the transmission of culture goes, language is a fairly important component. In this sense, I think we accept multiculturalism on a two-generation basis in that, if you have been here for more than two generations, there is much less tolerance for poor English or French language skills in public. (The only exception I can think of are Native languages that are still taught as the mother tongue.) I would think that by the second generation a member of any ethnicity or culture in Canada is proficient in English or French.
  12. Simply brilliant idea. Then all the interesting snippets would be posted on message boards and stuff. Or the news media would hire people to go through all the crap and filter it out. We wouldn't even have to access it ourselves, it would be delivered. dre for PM!
  13. I think this is a great idea and some US databases do this. Some Canadian databases could do this too. Know any COBOL database programmers? Although EMR has their raw mapping data online for you to pick and choose. Progress is so slow...
  14. Shoot, you just reminded me. Gotta get the cuz down in Florida to dig in that deep pocket full of quarters of his and send me this years crop.
  15. I don't have a problem using the government's websites. I know there was an accessibility issue that delayed some of the common look and feel initiatives, but other than that, who's complaining? Well is stands to reason that if they are ten years behind on the web usuability to the public, how far behind do you think they might be on the usuability systems to deliver programs and services? Priorities now. Unless you have a spare billion or so laying around to upgrade the government all at once. (no seriously, I bet most government workstations are Windows XP - ten years old). But the problem with contracting out stuff like this is that you have inexpert formatting of expert information. Hence, the questions about cartoons. But the real problem is the complaints about usability and format, but nothing really specific about what you are looking for. Perhaps you could be less vague?
  16. Yet despite your fuscia warning, I speak the truth.
  17. Do you? Outside of controversial speaking engagements I mean. If you do, why not explain it?
  18. Or the vote for women. Can you imagine?
  19. I can't wait until we read the demands when they do Occupy Vulcan (AB) You do? Cite.
  20. In recent years that has become unclear.
  21. Good point. And Roots did sponsor Sports Canada for some clothing items for the Winter Olympics. And they make nice watches. I'm converted.
  22. They're everywhere... Canadian citizens. You aren't familiar with negotiation are you?
  23. I think if the friend of the lady who caused the breach would be willing to give back the CD he took, they would have the names. Of course, if they have his name why wouldn't they go after him for accessing government data illegally? Oh, wait, I know: because they are still drafting the gd security guideline!
  24. Most of them sound pretty reasonable as a place to start even though they appear to be anti-CPC.
  25. yes, through a CIDA foreign aid program.
