  1. Did the depression end with those programs intact? I find it a little ironic how you wax on all the while America, with all it's social programming burdens, is as great as she is. You appear to be arguing failure in spite of the obvious, observable and tangible success. This is usually an indication that your hypothesis is wrong.
  2. Leave it to the right to lack a sense of self-deprecating humour. Heck, a lack of any sense of humour at all in some cases.
  3. But the basic philosophy stands: there is government interference for a reason. Unions exist for a reason. The market has never been free, never been "impartial" and never will because "the market" cannot exist outside of social structure. Somewhere along the line Ford's vision was distorted enough that his workers felt a union was necessary. Also, with the increased wages, his workers could buy his cars and thus he created a market within his own workforce who would buy his cars and put their money back into the company.
  4. Beside the point that advertising tries to make the "aggregate" biased, we can leave that behind and simply ask you: when in the history of humankind has the "impartial market" in fact, even been impartial? You argue hypotheticals that have never existed. What will you say next, the hand of God controls the market? (I jest, I really would like to know when, in all of human history, this impartial or free market has ever existed)
  5. And some of you need to be a little more forthcoming as to why we should read certain books, hopefully keeping in context with the current discussion. Especially by authors who would end up a little nutty later in life.
  6. For whom? Or are you theorizing again? If so, what model are you using?
  7. So what you are admitting then, is that the "impartial market" you reference is more of a theoretical construct than anything. Because in human history there has never been an "impartial market."
  8. The National Post nailed it! InfoGraphic Beavers vs Bears
  9. When has a government never interfered in any market in any time in history?
  10. So the TVA, FDIC, Securities Act, Social Securities Act, National Labour Relations & Fair Labour Standards Acts, Federal Crop Insurance, Food Stamps - all bad things? Is this what you are saying?
  11. Surely you must the see blatant contradictory elements in your silly explanation.
  12. So the New Deal was no good and nothing good came out of it is what you are saying.
  13. Oh puh-lease. Even you aren't that naive or stupid. Typical PC refrain. Got nothing to look forward to, might as well look backward and blame. You use to be cool PC Party of Ontario. You've changed man. Yawn
  14. Defence of what? Ineffectual, old bullshit that didn't get Hudak elected? Well Shady, at least your integrity is still intact. As you can see, the comedian is far more interesting. At least as a buffoon, Mayor Ford can change his tune and show some progress. Hudak and the present Ontario PC Party is a prescription for severe insomnia.
  15. Anything is the 'space electonic' is what I prefer, but I'll check out St. Germain for sure.
  16. Of course hearing a child scream in delight would never occur to the Sun. Likely through lack of experience. They merely assume terror is the cause.
  17. Hey, is that like the mayorilty campaign that Ford ran? Now that the shoes is on the other foot, I think it is hilarious!
  18. Why would you use the USSR example for implementation rather than Roosevelt's New Deal?
  19. Does full employment and guaranteed income necessarily mean the jobs will be of no utility?
  20. I might say so, but my kids always remind me that I am not. But I was never a hippy in the temporal sense of the word. I was more of a punkish rebel without the fashion accessories. 'FTW' 'No Future Now' kind of guy. I have since mellowed a titch.
  21. WT...? Rome as an 'Occupy' protest that went ugly. How about Oakland last week? Are you even following the issue?
  22. Well don't let your expertise hinge on the one example you have above, since you got it wrong.
  23. When I see Mayor Ford now, I am reminded of Biff Tannen from 'Back to the Future.' No matter how many times the movie is replayed, Biff still ends up in a big pile of shit. They even have a similar vocabulary.
