Vancouver didn't pay for it, Westbank did.   A city bylaw requires developers to pay for public art for developments over 10,000 SF.

Yes, which means it basically takes the part of a tax. So instead of paying five million in taxes to the city they had to contribute 'public art' and this is it.

I doubt that is it they probably still pay considerable amount of tax.

Why does Scheer have to apologize? No one said that.

I think you can guess who the troll is. The wack jobs are people whose view of reality is decidedly warped with conspiracy theories or ridiculous paranoia, and nonsensical beliefs about their homelands.

That video above just drops my jaw. I don't know what to make of it. The big guy who pinned the agitator to the ground is my hero. The pilers-on need to cool their jets a bit, but backing the cop in general get my thumbs up. And it's so unexpected. Does saying that make me a bigot? Not sure I care. Go good guys of the Hood.

That's because usually you see the opposite. I watch a lot of police videos and this might be the first one I've seen where a black bystander helps a cop fighting with a black man.

“He hasn’t been focused on what is going on with COVID. He’s either been golfing or he’s been inside the Oval Office fuming and throwing every single person who has been loyal and faithful to him under the bus, starting with the vice president.

“He doesn’t want to stay there. He only wants to stay there for the title. He only wants to stay there for his ego. He needs to get out.

  9. "[The opium trade] is a mere incident to the dispute. … The cause of this war is the kow-tow—the arrogant and insupportable pretensions of China, that she will hold commercial intercourse with the rest of mankind, not upon terms of equal reciprocity, but upon the insulting and degrading forms of the relation between lord and vassal." US President John Quincy Adams.

  10. "He is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership,"

Former Defense Secretary General James Matis

  11. "I hope (history) will remember him as a one-term president who didn't plunge the country irretrievably into a downward spiral we can't recall from. We can get over one term -- I have absolute confidence, even if it's not the miracle of a conservative Republican being elected in November. Two terms, I'm more troubled about. I don't think he's fit for office. I don't think he has the competence to carry out the job. I don't think he's a conservative Republican. I'm not gonna vote for him in November. John Bolton, former National Security Advisor

  12. "Jan. 6 was a shameful day. A mob bloodied law enforcement and besieged the first branch of government. American citizens tried to use terrorism to stop a democratic proceeding they disliked.

There is no question former President Trump bears moral responsibility. His supporters stormed the Capitol because of the unhinged falsehoods he shouted into the world’s largest megaphone. His behavior during and after the chaos was also unconscionable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after it ended." - Mitch McConnel

  13. "That so many Americans were willing to cast a ballot for Mr. Trump in spite of his egregious handling of the pandemic and his moral corruptness says something about the disconnectedness of Democratic elites. By pushing their party ever further to the left, and embracing identity politics, they alienated millions of moderate voters."   Konrad Yakabuski

You've missed something. By my personal definition of what I call Progdom you can be Prog and also a Fascist. Also a socialist, or communist. More a progressive socialist actually. It's just about control as a priority. Group managed equity over equality as individuals.

Thanks for answering my question though. Yeah, I think the Zombie woman was O'Rioridan or something like that.

The song is so cool. Bet you recognize it if you hear a few bars. I just happened to be listening to it so we can test that theory.

  15. "The depths of his dishonesty is just astounding to me. The dishonesty, the transactional nature of every relationship, though it's more pathetic than anything else. He is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life,"  Former Chief of Staff John Kelly on Donald Trump

  16. "The United States and the United States Congress have faced down much greater threats than the unhinged crowd we saw today. We have never been deterred before, and we will be not deterred today. They try to disrupt our democracy, they failed. They failed. They failed to attempt to obstruct Congress. This failed insurrection only underscores how crucial the task before us is, for our republic."   - Mitch McConnell

Mitch was happy to fork over big money for military spending, but only a paltry 600 bucks per American. His priorities for the the future of the "Republic" are pretty clear.

That is why Trump has exposed all of them, these charlatans, and why they all hate him now.

  19. “Canada’s risk is much, much lower than that of many countries. It’s going to be rare, but we are expecting cases. It doesn’t matter how few those cases are. We are preparing the whole country in the event that you might pick up a rare case.” Teresa Tam, Canada's Chief Public Health officer you see on the news every day. Clearly someone with very little foresight.

  20. “My wish is that we continue to increase levels in our immigration system for refugees. I’m very open to saying that, and I will do whatever I can, in whatever position I am in, to continue to push for higher refugee numbers every single year,”  - Ahmed Hussen, Canada's Liberal Immigration Minister

  21. “The seeds of who he is today were planted back when I worked with him.He was able to control others, through lies and exaggeration, with promises of money or jobs, through threats of lawsuits or exposure. He surrounded himself with yes-men, blamed others for his own failures, never took responsibility, and always stole credit. These tactics are still at work, just deployed at the highest levels of the U.S. government, with all the corruption and chaos that necessarily ensue.”  - Barbara Res, longtim Trump aide
