  1. rrrright that's why Israel is putting so much diplomatic effort to stop Palestine been recognized as a state because they're not worried about the potential political, legal and economic consequences
  2. sorry you're right the two provinces are not the same...this trudeau quote was brought up for the calgary by-election which would be extremely damaging should the cpc lose but not damaging for the liberals should they lose since they weren't expecting to win it anyway... it's like Mulcair and his 'dutch disease" albertans and cpc can attack the comment all they want it doesn't affect the NDP as it doesn't see itself gaining any seats in Alberta and the voters in the lone seat it does have in Edmonton already agree with him...
  3. and the guy who wanted to "build firewalls around alberta" became the PM...and the guy that said "let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark" got the Order of canada....so does it matter much? not really the liberals don't expect any seats in alberta or many from western canada for that matter....
  4. far from it...arrest warrants severely restrict that nations ability to function internationally...if a warrant was put out for someone like netanyahu he could no longer safely go to europe, s america, half of africa, canada, any of a 121 countries that have signed onto the agreement are obligated to arrest him and turn him over to the ICC...the ICC states would be free to put political and economic pressure on states to surrender suspects just as Serbia was pressured to produce it's accused war criminals...
  5. it changes rules the way the issue is addressed in the UN, it's significant....non-member state status would empower Palestinian officials to seek recourse at the International Criminal Court. In theory, Palestinians could use the forum in order to bring action against Israel for what they view as violations of international law regarding their treatment in the West Bank and Gaza, including war crimes and the construction of Jewish settlements. if the UN General assembly were to grant Palestine state observer status, the ICC might just stretch a legal interpretation and extend its jurisdiction to the West Bank and Gaza. This would be a major victory for the Palestinian strategy, opening up the possibility of Israeli political and military actors being brought before the ICC, a risk that Israel is keen to avoid.
  6. or negotiate giving back the palestinians their water and leaving the settlements, negotiating is not in their plans...
  7. EC wants to know who had access to party lists, who had access to call centers, computer login in times, phone logs....the only election strategy EC wants to investigate are the illegal ones...
  8. relax, don't read them if they bother you...
  9. more like she's afraid of finding how high the trail of corruption leads...like Watergate, once one insider goes down there could be a domino effect....
  10. from the link.... Israel believes the Palestinians have the support of up to seven EU countries – Ireland, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Greece, Cyprus and Malta – but wants to maximise the number of nations opposing the resolution. It particularly wants to secure the opposition of the "big three" – Britain, France and Germany. None has yet declared how it will vote, but the French president, François Hollande, told a Paris press conference on Tuesday he could not rule out the possibility of France supporting the Palestinian initiative. The Israeli foreign ministry sent a diplomatic cable on Sunday to all Israeli representatives across the globe warning that the Palestinian resolution was a "clear violation of the fundamental principle of negotiations". Britain and France have already recognized the Syrian rebels but that isn't considered a threat to negotiations and strangely our government isn't declaring the Syrian rebels as a terrorist organization like Hamas ...the hypocrisy in politics defies belief at times how do politicians espouse crap like that and keep a straight face...and how does the media let them get away with it... when palestine gets accepted I may take the time to install it's flag as my avatar...
  11. ya just another 40 years more of "negotiating" and west bank will completely inundated with illegal settlements and the Palestinians will be confined to fenced in camps...
  12. again if the cpc was genuinely concerned with getting to the truth and saving it's reputation you would think the cpc would be cooperative and exposing the the culprits themselves...but no, cooperate is the last thing the cpc intends to do, it has no interest in uncovering the guilty parties why? is it because the/she may spill the beans telling Elections Canada more in order to save his/her own skin... who would've thought that 6 pot plants being of more a threat to our society than a direct attack on our democratic freedom to vote...
  13. Dawkins is true to scientific approach addressing probability and very diplomatic too...I'm not very diplomatic when it comes to fairy tales and the probability is so low as to be non-existent IMO...
  14. yet blowing a million on flights for a photo-op in India couldn't have been accomplished with "something called telecommunications"
  15. of course...he can meet with G8 and G20 leaders to discuss long range planning and international problems but meet with our own premiers to discuss canada's internal long range plans and problems..."no thanks, I'm too busy"...
  16. I'm an atheist, I agreed little with Christopher hitchens found him politically distasteful ....i do like richard Dawkins but disagree with his being open to the possibility of a god...one size does not fit all when it comes to atheists, the only thing we all have in common is our atheism...
  17. you could've read the link I supplied but you didn't did you...nope, because it's easier to carry on a blinkered hate fest that you have for muslims can't have reality interfering with that.......
  18. the urban areas have a large number of young migrants from other regions of canada who have no recollection of the NEP so there is a slow demographic shift to the left...Nenshi's campaign for mayor actually targeted the young vote and managed to get them out to vote, not an easy task....whether the federal MP candidates can get the younger demographic out to vote is questionable, it's one thing to support a candidate in a poll and another to actually get out and vote...
  19. yup it's all one sided rhetoric, " the other guys are evil we are absolutely blameless, there is nothing wrong with ethnic cleansing god said we could do it"....
  20. delusion is all yours smallc....other than G8 meetings and such there is no real reason other than PR photo-ops for our PM to leave the country on state business...our PM does not have power of the POTUS where his actual physical presence is politically significant...the PM could get as much done by picking up the phone and calling the PM of India...
  21. and they are, discussion and agreements are done months in advance, govt ministers or PMs showing up for final signing of agreements is all done for show/photo-ops....
  22. let's be clear you're twisting my initial post....harper can't be bothered to attend a difficult meeting of premiers concerning our country but has time to do expensive photo-ops elsewhere....I never said he shouldn't go on state visits...
  23. obama is presidential he doesn't need a photo-op....going to burma was a photo op for the burma's benefit legitimizing their government and obama demonstrating public support for the opposition, his presence had a larger political purpose...harper/canada doesn't have the same political effect that the POTUS does...
  24. you're so naive, do actually think harper actually made any trade deals with india ...it's pure photo-op any trade agreements with india were made and finalized months ago between low level officials.... ..harpers "presidential".photo-ops are for gullible rubes to ingest...
  25. probably the same thing, number of posts...my five stars is the same as my post number...it certainly has nothing to do other members rating me I've annoyed just about everyone here so I wouldn't have any
