Aren't we told that if we work really hard we will succeed. -

I'm not talking just about public debt, private debt too. There is more debt based in dollars then there are dollars to service that debt, it is mathematically impossible for everyone to win in this system, there will always be a group of people that get the short end of the stick. -

I really don't think we need intellectual property, I think information and ideas should be free for everyone to use. I understand the need in a system that uses money like our current system, intellectual property rights creates scarcity and scarcity is profitable. There is no such thing as a perfect society and as for the name it is irrelevant. I also don't think you fully understand the concept of a resource based economy. I know there is very little chance this will get any traction any time soon. People don't understand the problems of having a system with fiat currency let alone look at the entire system as a whole and the problems it creates. Do you guys at least realize that with the current fiat system with the use of interest, there is more debt in the world then there is money to pay it off, it is physically impossible to pay off all the debt. Do you see that as a problem? -

Ideologically? Jesse Ventura dedicated his last book to Ron Paul and on national TV he said he would run as Ron Paul's running mate if Paul chose to run as an independent. -

It could also be this year or maybe next year, either way it is an unsustainable model. -

I really wish Ron Paul ran as an independent with Ventura as his running mate, I think he would have a greater chance of winning if he did. Yes, but even if you think America should be an empire eventually they will be brought down economically because they can't afford it. -
Stormy Skies for Canada's Middle Class

Maybe it is the corporations that use that labour that are at fault. -
Killing people for oil is not a solution. This kind of foreign policy will lead to more terrorist attacks.

The riots probably weren't even that bad. Probably all the damage was done by a small group of people. -
I still believe long term gold and silver will rise I just think we will hit a deflationary period before we hit the inflationary period. There is also the wildcard, who knows what the Fed will do. I may just hold on to my silver and ride it out, it is getting kind of hard to find physical around where I live. I do think it may fall to the low 30's high 20's.

I am starting to think we may be heading into a deflationary period. I may sell off some of my silver and buy back in a little later. I think we may see the stock market crash by years end.

Ron Paul really doesn't want to implement anything...well he does but not directly. He wants congress to implement the policies while he would advice them on what he believes they should do. Ron Paul really wants to take away a lot of the powers the executive branch has been given.

I think in order to assess the insanity of a particular candidate, it is more importants to look at ones actions rather then their statements which can easily be miss interpreted. Which policy or policies of his do you disagree with?

Military at the next G8/G20 summit?
maple_leafs182 replied to GostHacked's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That is not true. I am against both the G20 and G8 meetings along with big multinational corporation. They had to shutdown the downtown of the largest city in Canada for them. I would of preferred they had the meeting over the internet with a live stream for the public to watch. Would of saved over a billion dollars and property would not of been damaged. -
Military at the next G8/G20 summit?
maple_leafs182 replied to GostHacked's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I drove to Toronto for the G20. I would say at least 80% of the cops their were not needed. The fences were not needed. Having the meeting in downtown Toronto in itself was not a smart idea. I don't know if its just me, I don't see world leaders as being better then any one on this forum or anywhere, we should stop treating them as if they are kings. -
Canada to create Military Bases Abroad
maple_leafs182 replied to Smallc's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think it will. I guess we can expect more wars in the future...so much for working towards world peace. -
Ya, that crazy Ron Paul... Saying stuff in the 90's like if the US continues its foreign policy it may lead to terrorist attacks or in the early 2000's warning people that the US is in a bubble. Clearly he is crazy and knows nothing.

Yes. Another benefit in my opinion is that the large corporations the banks and governments support would not be able to get so big on something such as the gold standard. Right now they are too big, they have too much influence over our lives and create too many environmental problems.

Atlanta Thrashers coming to Winnipeg?
maple_leafs182 replied to maple_leafs182's topic in Travel, Leisure and Sports
I hope he plays one last season in Winnipeg. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2011/06/05/true-north-purchases-whiteout-trademark Maybe Winnipeg Whiteout? -
Harper doesn't offer smaller government, it may not grow as fast of a pace as it would if the liberals or NDP were in charge but it won't get smaller. Harper acts like he understands the economy but he doesn't, he will spend the money the NDP would spend on welfare on warfare and building up the police state. I do not like when people use the word realist. It tries to discredit other peoples views by using a single word. I think Ron Paul has a better chance then people think. The biggest hurdle he faces now is the biased main stream media that consistently claims that his libertarian views are nonsensical.

Atlanta Thrashers coming to Winnipeg?

They will not build a new arena, the MTS center is 7 years old. They were talking about doing some renovations to add more seats but I doubt they will. They will only have 600 general admission tickets available per game, I am going to try to be there for game 1. As for the name they said they are going to wait till after they have secured the franchise before they announce the name. I don't know if that means after the 13,000 tickets were sold or after the June 21 board of governors meeting to approve the relocation. When Don Cherry asked Mark Chipman if they will be calling the team the jets on hockey night and canada, the expression on Chipman's face made it seem like they will not be called the Jets. I heard someone say that they are going to be calling them the Ice Bears, not a fan of the name if it's true. -
Gloomy predictions for the economic future

The reason why the recession happened is because we have a monetary system that is based on debt.
