IMHO, Harper knows that starting on the 29th, he is going to be quite busy and probably won't be getting much time off for the near future...... And/or he needs a little time to start figuring out his cabinet (if he hasn't done that already).
-
I doubt it will have any real effect.......I tend to believe that the majority of Canadians (whatever political views) have the education and the common sense to realize that Moore is full of the brown smelly stuff.......

Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil

Who is our Head of State? Thats a good point, Bush was damned if he did, and damned if he didn't........I tend to believe that though it may not be always the best solution, doing the right thing, even if it's for the wrong reasons, can still be justified because you are still doing the right thing.....But I've yet to be convinced that Bush went into Iraq for even the wrong reasons..... -
Conservatives to drop French at Air Canada
Stoker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Don't go getting your knickers in a twist maplesyrup.... IIRC, your demigod Chairman Moe kinda agreed with Spector....now I'm not 100% since I was in and out of the room......What you should do MS is ask your parents if you can stay up late and watch the midnight repeat of Right On on the new VI...... -
Conservatives to drop French at Air Canada
Stoker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
i was watching a local talk show with Norm Spector, and he thinks the Cons did this to gain support with the rest of Canada, by appearing not to be catering to just one province. (ie Quebec) He also went on to say that his could be a kind of chess move to send Quebec itself a message........with the message being, if you want a voice in Ottawa, don't vote Bloc..... -
Where are all you guys from?
Stoker replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Left Coast, and after much convincing on the part of Maplesyrup........NDP jk......I'm ever so slightly Conservative -
Why do you think Bush was not a "friend" to Canada.........remember that old saying your mother would tell you? Treat people how you would want to be treated......

Hello everyone, I'm new to this board.
Stoker replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
greetings big blue I wouldn't worry about the French vote, by the time you are in your 40s to 50s, Mandarin or Cantonese will be a much more handy second language to have, not just for winning votes within Canada, but also on a international stage. -
I'm being oppressed! I'm being oppressed!
Stoker replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Did you watch the English debate? he made his stance on the Iraq war quite clear........ -
I'm being oppressed! I'm being oppressed!
Stoker replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'd also wonder if perhaps the RCMP should keep an eye and ear out to see if any current files/docs/records are being destroyed by the current government before transition takes place......thats something I'm sure that most Canadians would be intrested in -
Conservatives to drop French at Air Canada
Stoker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I wonder whats better.......a unilingual national airline, that is based out of Montreal.... or no airline at all? FFS, let's let Air Canada sink or swim like a normal airline, but before we cast it off, let's remove the lead boots... -
Best Political Comment of the Day
Stoker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The resistance is the very fact that it is a waste of our limited tax dollars.........the money should have been spent on fighting the real crooks by giving more resources to the RCMP.......not making farmers and hunters crooks. -
Cons accuse NDP/Lib of Child Pornography
Stoker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Argus, is there proof that cases of Child abuse have not gone down from say, the 1950s? Even if there has been a study conducted, wouldn't you say that it has been skewed by the fact that Child abuse was not talked about as much or reported 40-50 years ago? As for the punishment, I'm not sure that the dealth penalty would solve Child abuse, but the abuser sure as hell wouldn't be doing it again....... Who said anything about stoping at the elimination of child porn? I'm by all means in favor of going all out, let's not just eliminate child porn, let's eliminate paedophiles.... maplesyrup, I'm still waiting on your stance regarding Bill C-12? You in favor of it, or are you against it? caesar, you don't think that the abuse of a child is a real issue? -
Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil

I guess it is, since I've yet seen my line of thinking proven wrong.......care to try? -
Cons accuse NDP/Lib of Child Pornography
Stoker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Who brought up assault with a weapon? Where did I say anything about making "normal" assault charges lighter? I also agree with toughening all laws, our current justice system is a joke.... And yes, anybody watching a nude teenager over the internet should be charged.... You know what......I don't have any videos, DVDs, Books or pictures in my home that even come close to being what you describe......and if you do, I'd suggest the Mods of this site give your IP address and/or E-mail address to the RCMP. I'm all for bringing back the dealth penalty, and I would be more then willing to allow crimes against children to be part of it's jurisdiction......Hang em, shoot em, give them a needle, let them breath poisonous gas I don't care.....as long as the end result is achieved. -
Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil
Stoker replied to jacqueline944's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I watch/read/listen to it all the time.....and from doing that, I haven't heard any stories that provide any proof that America went to war to steal Iraqi oil.......now if you don't mind enlightening me to some sort of proof that Bush is a new-age Machiavelli.......be my guest, but remember, conjecture doesn't count. -
Cons accuse NDP/Lib of Child Pornography
Stoker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That kind of logic is akin to having a cut on your hand but to treat it, you cut off your arm........there should be tougher laws against having pictures of a youth, but even tougher laws against sex with a youth....... Artistic defence? I guess in this case, one persons "art", is another persons filth. In this case, I'd be in favor of having a nation wide referendum to decide this issue. I don't mind being "lax" in some areas such as aboration or gay marriege, but when it come to anything even close to a form of abusing children, I prefer to "error" on the side of caution..... -
Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil
Stoker replied to jacqueline944's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Oh, so the Americans haven't been able to grift the oil yet? Whats it called when you accuse a person (in this case a nation) of a crime, without any proof, of a crime that has not occurred? -
Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil
Stoker replied to jacqueline944's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
As I said in another thread (maybe to you), if this was just a war so Bush could hand over contracts to his buddies........Why not allow his buddies to drill in protected parks in Alaska instead of going to war? And even if that was not enough, why not go to war with Iraq in his second term when he wouldn't have to worry about being reelected? And my final one...........Why is Oil so bloody expensive right now if this war was about stealing Iraqi oil? -
Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil
Stoker replied to jacqueline944's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ahh.......So thats why gas is so cheap Do you know when the Americans are going to start stealing Iraqi oil? It had better be soon since the date for the hand over is coming up......Also, if the stolen Iraqi oil is going to be coming to market soon, I'll hold off on filling my tank.......
