  1. At the time we had about 2000 in Afghanistain, and by doing that it has screwed up the process of training new troops and giving time to those that need a break......it will take years to recover........again there were no avaliable troops to send to Iraq. As for the forces being in trouble, if your that ignorant you don't even deserve a reply. I think you have some issues to address if you think there is any humour within this topic.
  2. The only morons are those that think Harper would have sent troops............We had no frigging troops to send even he had of wanted to (Which I've not yet seen proof to say he did). Hindsite is 20/20 as they say, regardless a free Iraq is nothing one should feel sorry for..........We could also point out that if Harper had of been PM and if he had of supported the war, hence not further strain relations between Canada and the United States, we would not be feeling the huge negative impact from Mad Cow, SARS and softwood lumber.......... I want Chretien and the Liberals to beg forgiveness to those that have been affected by the negative relations we now have with the United States. Well we are at it, I want Crawford to beg forgiveness for not putting Wayne out on the shootout........
  3. Why's that? I don't need the government to hold my hand and tell me that smoking is bad for you.......the only "group" that needs protecting are children.......whats next, should the government make Cheeseburgers illegal? What about beer? Corvettes? Where does it end?
  4. Do you have a quote that supports that Harper wanted to send troops to Iraq, as opposed to just "support" our allies? What blunder did he commit that you feel he needs to beg forgiveness for?
  5. How can you prove that a smoker that died of Lung Cancer, got Lung Cancer as a result of smoking? What if he was roofer or paver, dealing with the fumes from hot tar for 30 years and got lung Cancer from that........of got it from the enviroment.....etc How's that? Something like over 50% of North Americans are overweight........how is that not bad? I'd also wonder how many fat people we have in Canada compared to smokers.......I now rates of smoking are going down amongest teenagers, well at the same time childhood obesity is growing.
  6. I think you maybe missing my point........the United States (unlike most nations) can "walk and chew gum" at the same time quite well. The United States doesn't need Canadian soil for NMD........they already have the facilty set-up in Alaska. As for your second point, that should be up to an international court to decide.......Of course we are going to say the mineral rights offshore are ours......just like the yanks are doing the same.....tis just a conflict of intrest..with that said, with cases like this, it would be helpful to have better realtions, if not an ear in the white house.
  7. Yeah, the former NDP MP, Svend Robinson (the guy that stole expensive jewlery) got a trip recently to Scotland, even though he no longer held a seat in government......
  8. Though I don't disagree that terrorism at this point in time is the largest threat towards the United States, that doesn't mean that the United States shouldn't prepare for the second largest threat posed towards them (rogue nation with ICBMs) and it doesn't mean that they shouldn't prepare for a potential future threat (Communist China). I can manage Car insurance, House insurance and putting away money for Life insurance all at the same time (as I'm sure most here can also), so why do some think that the United States can't "juggle" three things (Well more then that) all at once?
  9. Al Jazeera in Canada........who cares ? Of course certain stations are going to have a certain "slant" towards them, but really, I ask anyone to tell me how any of these three stations are trying to brain wash me with the following story: Al Jazeera CBC FOX With that said, whats good for the goose is good for the gander........Fox news should be allowed to broadcast within Canada also.
  10. As was mentioned before, Russia can't afford an arms race and China has been in one for quite some time already. As for your second point, I'm glad you are finally starting to understand...........the best defence is a good offence Those "doors" will be opened regardless, so it's better to be prepaired for what on the other side. Would you care to elaborate? You wouldn't be comparing the United States to Nazi Germany would you?
  11. Thats not answering the question.........I'm not talking about the electoral system, I'm talking about voting trends and the end result........ Again: So the Bloc vote mean nothing then? What about when Quebec elects a PQ government in their next election? ......Or a realistic, grounded mind that understands money doesn't grow on trees......... Nope. I don't care what anybody does in their own home as long as it's not hurting another........... My only "beefs" with this entire gay marriage thing, is that I fear that eventualy Churchs will be forced to wedd a gay couple out of fear of being charged with a hate crime. Also, elected officials should decide on issues such as this, not appointed judges. Other then that, To each his/her own I say.......
  12. In your opinion Black dog, after terrorism, what is the next biggest threat towards the United States, and by default Canada?
  13. If it came down to it, I'd rather another person suffer then myself suffer........ It depends were the terrorism is.........as long as the increase in terror is only felt in the middle east and not North America and our lifeblood (Oil) is kept flowing, though not being the ideal situation, it's better then an increase of terror felt at home and having some of our Oil supplies compromised. Wouldn't you agree? And I thought for sure somebody was going to bring-up Churchill having stocks in Krupp steel........
  14. Better there then here.........don't you think? I think the term is preemption......I'd ask Maplesyrup first, but didn't Stalin once say the best defence is a good offense? Fight the buggers on their own turf instead of our's.......
  15. What aspects of Big Business forced the United States into the First and Second World war? What aspects brought the United Kingdom and Commonwealth into both? Did Big Business attack the United States on 9/11? Now let's just say that the War on Iraq was about Oil......whats wrong with a nation looking out for it's own intrests?
  16. I think the "etc" should be decided on a case by case basis don't you? Also, many of the "etc" can still be regulated by the government to be kept at a standard demanded by the people, but delivered by the private sector (ie Healthcare and Post secondary education). IMHO, most corporate wealthfare is a bad thing.......but in the case of the Tar Sands or Hibernia, were they not given money to get off the ground and are now going on their own momentum? As opposed to Air Canada that is given money to stay off the ground? I don't mind my money going in the form of a low intrest loan to something that will be used to start growth in any given sector, where the line must be drawn is when public money is keeping that sector afloat. Why should I pay for an endless loop that is deadbeat parents..........put the kids up for adoption and the parents in jail. Other then in the case of youth, why should the government be telling adults whats bad for them and whats good for them.......sink or swim......learn accountability. Thats not to say that I'm against taxing the hell out of "Luxury" items mind you.
  17. I never said no government, I said that "unless in the most extreme cases, the Government should not become involved with the day to day lives of people". Remember Government is there to serve us, not the other way around. I don't mind at all having the government there to protect us, maintain the roads etc, but government shouldn't be dipping into business, childcare or dictating values to individuals...........which brings us back to the preceived threat that Quebec feels and the West is starting to feel from Eastern Canada.......
  18. To tell you the truth, I don't know for a fact, but caesar's tone towards Israel in other threads, added to his/her's political views in addition towards the article I posted that shows the close ties between Anti-Semitism and Socialism, does tend to let one believe that....1+1+1=3? According to your broad stroke that all wars are caused by big business, your Socialist political views, and the above [linked to] article, it would be quite possable for a person to use an equaly broad stroke and call you MS an Anti-Semite........that is if broad stroke are par for the course.
  19. Go do a search of Caesar's posts and look for one of his/hers standard anti-Israel rants.......without a doubt, the topic is brought up in thread Caesar posts in.
  20. I disagree, unless in the most extreme cases, the Government should not become involved with the day to day lives of people. As for stealing from the rich to give to the poor, what are those legitimate rights? I agree with Taxation, but not nationlization.
  21. I think it should be decriminalized, but like communism, the best solution is to educate people against it.
  22. Some do. And some is too many.
  23. It's all relative.........isn't socialism just communism "in progress" or "under consruction" so to speak?
  24. Perhaps this article rings true eh MS? After hearing Ceaser talk, I tend to believe so: The Socialist Roots of Modern Anti-Semitism
  25. Sweden circa 1980s..........North Korea/Cuba.......and any Labour Government within the United Kingdom for example all contain(ed) various shades of Red
