US To Deploy Hyper-Missiles
Stoker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Perhaps, but it also makes sense.......as in the story posted by MS, if a "bin laden" type target were to be found by American intelligence, these missiles could attack the target in a mater of hours, instead of up to a day......stands to reason that the faster you hit the bugger, the less chance there is that he could leave the targeted location. -
To be fair, the BC Liberal site isn't much better, but once the campaging starts, British Columbians, I'm sure, will be reminded of the following: Who's the lesser of two evils? I remember the follwing under the NDP also: $463 million wasted on “fast” ferries $1 billion in business subsidies $310 million for the NDP’s “fixed wage” policy $1.2 billion in Forrest Renewal B.C. spending, without a business plan $73 million for a Convention Centre study, again, without a business plan $125 million in foregone federal revenue from the Nanoose Bay lease fiasco $65 million on a photo radar program that failed miserably $11.4 million for Hydrogate losses $25 million loan for a private company that planned to turn Burns Bog into a theme park Not to mention the “fudge-it” budgets and the eight consecutive deficits. So again, what is the NDP's "plan"? I hope they have some substance, since they can't run on their record....

BC NDP What is their platform? How are they going to make things better? What are they going to make better? Will my taxes go up? I've went through their website, and all that I could find was negative comments against the current Campbell government and "how great the NDP was during the 90s". No substance, and to be honest, it reminds me of the Kerry Campagin........just a bunch of loud nose.

NDP to table motion to force Canadians to eat their veggies and wash behind their ears..

Though I tend to agree (in that the NDP are losers), you can't really have it both ways and ask NDPers to not take offence when you call their party "amible losers".

Canadians surveyed about Middle East

Hey, the United Nations called the Iraqi government a "broadly representative Governing Council" and cited it's creation as an "important step towards the formation by the people of Iraq of an internationally recognized, representative government that will exercise the sovereignty of Iraq". I guess the Americans are damned if they do and damned if they don't Resolution 1500 -

What nations? Did they also urge Saddam to comply with the various resoultions brought before him by the UN? You make it sound as if it's the American's fault that Saddam invaded Kuwait.........but of course, people of your ilk probably blame the Americans for bad weather also. You sure paint a pretty picture of Saddam's Iraq......what about the torture chambers? mass graves? missing family members? Gassed Kurds? Dead and injured Kuwaits? -

And whats the governments postion on the PLO? And how many billions did he spend on places? Luxruy cars? Jewlery? Did the Iraqi people get a say on what he spent the money on? Would you rather have lived in pre-war Iraq or here? Whats to expalin? The United States government is searching all avenues for missing oil money, from the UN oil for food program? *From the same link* You mean that the Americans won't allow religious leaders to turn Iraq into a theocratic republic? Those bastards Where in 687, is anything ended? 687 Perhaps you should read 688 and then tell which parts Saddam complied with. Prove it! The Iraqi government can ask the American forces to leave anytime they wish, and they will comply with the Iraqi governments request. Thats right from W's mouth well on Larry King. The hi-way of death was before the Iraqi's sued for peace and was one of the factors that lead Powell not to urge the Americans to go all the way to Baghdad, in that it was disparaging to the Arab states in the coalition. Thats it.......Caesar has found proof from a geocities site -
Horrific Crash On Trans Canada Highway

What a joke Why are you blaming Brain Mulroney for this crash then? After how you alluded to the fact that Union workers are safer.............So let me get this straight, If I'm a union worker, i can drink a 40ozer of Jack Daniels then jump in my pick-up and not be a safety hazard? -

How many accidents happend on the same strech of hi-way when the NDP where in government? Also, what plans did the NDP government put forth to fix this problem? -
As for the hourly wage on the government site RB, the average likely includeds the wages of an apprentice and service plumbers. You won't find a Journeyman plumber/pipefitter/Sprinkler fitter/gas fitter, with his or her's inter-provincial seal, cross connection ticket and BC gas ticket making under $26 an hour in BC.... When you factor in benifits, a union plumber is making over $ 35 an hour (When he's working).
-
I see what your saying RB. And I do agree to an extent, I graduated in the late 90s and the career counsellors were not so much pushing trades, as they were computer sciences (circa 95-98). In doing so, a large portion of my age group went into computers, and sadly many of those that finished their education (and I keep in touch with) are now in their mid twenties with a computer degree and working at Walmart or Mcdonalds, and planning to go into something different. I really think that career counsellors should just present the options and perquisites to the students (regardless of their finacial level or race), instead of their own opinions and the "current trend/flavour of the week".

How many where on the Ski to sea/upper levels during the NDP's regin? And did the NDP have a plan, like Falcon and the current Liberal government do, to improve the hi-way on the North Shore? -

Who's stopping all these non union truck drivers from joining the teamsters? There is a big hall on Broadway close to the King's gate mall......... Ahh, so since this bus driver was a member of a union (CAW?), by him drinking and being part of a union he was never a hazard to the public? -

How so? It was never the Iraqi people's oil....it was Saddam oil......now it is the Iraqi people's oil......more so once they elect their government in a couple of months. When was it signed? Why was their a UN presence in and around Iraq until the American led war? O-K Do you beleive in Martians and Bigfoot also? -
I find this example funny........I'm a pipefitter (think big plumbing), with my sites set on a law degree I'm hardly from a rich/affluent family mind you........ Really though, the attitude that seems to be present amongest "professionals" regarding trades is slowly becoming wrong with the coming retirement of the baby boomers. For example, my boss is a sub-contractor for a larger housing developer.......after parts and paying the wages of myself and two co-workers, my boss cleared $32k for the month of October. Granted this was a longer/above average month, he figures he still clears close to 22k-25k a month on average. Another example, on New Years 2001 I was living and working over in Vancouver, our boss aloud us to charge whatever we wanted for service calls on New Years eve......even if you live in the British properties, $350 an hour will still take a dent out of any persons cheque book Or jeez, look what some of the trades people are making out in Alberta and Northern BC.....it's crazy money and is there for those willing to work for it......such as life

As well as banning big rigs, let's also ban all Hondas...... ....And only allow old people to drive late at night. I also blame the federal NDP for this accident, since they have never formed a government and banned all Honda's and old people from driving on slick roads... -

August of 1990. The elections already happend in Afghanistain, and are still planned for janurary for Iraq. Saddam wasn't? The Kuwait invasion wasn't a war of conquest? Iraqi control of middle eastern oil wouldn't threaten the world economy? So you would have been fine with the Allies stopping at the German boarders and allowing Hitler to remain in power? I wonder what the veterans would think about that? Has there been any case/proof ot suggest that "W" went to war to defend the honor of Daddy? Thats good, just like Germany, Iraqis too have control of their number one resource. -

Whats that statement based on? Whats that supposed to mean? When you go to work, how often are you threatend, sweared at, spat on, faced with the possablitiy of being injured or killed......and my personal favorite, the possablitiy of being poked with a dirty rig. Damn those people eh Whats that based on? I live in a town of about 12-13 thousand people, an educated guess would lead me to believe that over 90% are white, 9% native, and 1% other. Are RCMP detachement is made up of 15 members. The Staff Sergeant is a female, we have three other females (one being of Muslim origin), a Chinese officer, and a Indo Canadian. Of the rest of the "White Men".......half are from Quebec!!!!!! Now for the sake of argument, that assume that the vast majority of police officers in Canada are white.....how many non-white males have been turned away? Of every person that applies to join a force, how many are white, and how many are colored? Says who? Mind you, I don't blame the VPD out of Main and Hastings for not "getting to know the people"...... What problem? How many police officers are there in Canada? How many where involved in this case? -

Say that again? We have on one hand, a country led by a dictator (Saddam) that has before threatend world stablitiy (Not to the same extent as Hitler granted) and in the other, a group of Allies led by the United States and the United Kingdom. With the end result being, like Germany and Japan, a (soon to be) democratic Iraq and Afghanistain. What part, in your opinion, of this paper was not well thought out? Thats if "aggression and international chos" are in ones self intrest and action is taken, as opposed to a stance based on so called "moral superiority" in which a whole lot of nothing takes place. For a "peacekeeping nation" such as ours, when was the last time a peace treaty was named after a Canadian city? I have, and I understand the reason, that doesn't change the fact that I'd like to know your reasons for thinking it right to fight for one cause and not the other? eureka, why did we fight the Nazis? And why are we not fighting the Bath(sp?) party? -

Translation, sit on the fence, allow more innocent Israelis and Palistinens to die, cast stones at those that are trying to do something (United States), well being sure not too get our hands dirty. Who's that? So you would like to change the leadership of a democratic country? Why did we fight? And couldn't those reasons be also applied to fighting in Iraq/Sudan/Any other shithole? I think he depicts a perfect contrast between Canada then and Canada today. I too believe that the "split" in Canada of yesterday and today happend after Pearson.
