We'll forget about Al-Zaquri recieving treatment for the wounds he recieved in the war Afghanistain in a Iraqi hospital.........Instead let's focus on the new era in which the United States views itself in after the events of 9/11. The United States is now of the mindset that it's better to "land the first blow" instead of being reactionary. It really doesn't matter if Iraq had ties to 9/11 or not, the Americans are now going to take action now and ask questions later. The war isn't being fought against OBL and friends, but anybody that could pose a threat to the United States way of life. Again, might makes right and the best defence is a good offence............and all those clichés Have you been smoking the opium? The United States told the ruling taliban to hand of Osama, they didn't, they got tossed. So all were better off under the Taliban? Ask any Afghan woman if she feels like that.......it's now alright to talk to a married women in Afghanistain. Did Canada and company care? What about the bungle in the jungle? Somlia? Those that live in glass houses.... Didn't Saddam offer cash rewards to suicide bombers families? Since thats the case, iraq was helping to encourage terror.......Iraq has been dealt with....so do you know support the war?

Do you understand what hypocrisy means? Or do you think it right to only oppose "American aggression", nevermind that America was attacked first, and to forget the segments of Islam that wish to destroy not just the United States, but us as well, and the nation states that support them.

When did the coalition invade and takeover Afghanistain? 2001-2002. When were the elections held? Just recently. When did America invade Iraq? 2003. When will the elections be held....two months. Or drill in the protected parks in Alaska.......or invest in further oil and gas exploration in western Canada

Will You Be joining In The Protests Against Bush?
Stoker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I agree that it's a form of democratic expression.......as for if it's "good" or not, I believe it's all in the eye of the beholder....... I do beleive, 100% that those that go are wasting their time.......this is just a side show for Bush.....I hate to break it to yeah, but our collective opinion towards the Bush administration and America in general means squat to Bush and most Americans. Now before you strap on your tin-foil hat MS, I'd also say the same thing for any Pro-Bush rallies......We don't mater that much to America......just so as long as the next terror attack in the States isn't launched from Canada, which if the case may be, we will find ourselves the reciepent of too much American attention..... As for Canada's policies, I doubt it.....Martin understands the concept of not biting the hand that feeds us. The screaming chants of a bunch of pot-smoking, hemp wearing, pinko-commie, University going mid-20 year olds doesn't mater.......the majority of that age group don't vote... -
Something to think about

And we put large tariffs on their poultry and dairy products, so in affect.........softwood lumber and poultry and dairy cancel out. (Tic for Tac that is, I'm not sure economically) So us not having a large beef industry is America's fault? In international waters......can a nation put ownship on a Chinook out in the Pacific? We can pull out of NAFATA anytime we wish....... Take them to court. What it comes down to is that America (For the most part) is all we have to deal with. We may be able to increase trade with some emerging second world markets (South America and Southeast Asia) but in all realitiy we will be the purchaser of (cheap) goods, not the exporter. Now I ask, since America will likely be our largest trading partner (by far) for a long, long time, would it not be prudent to try and foster better relations with them? In all reality, how has America done us wrong? Closed the boaders to sick cows......Wouldn't we do the same, if say a case of mad cow was found in New Zealand beef? Put tarrifs on our wood, when we try and flood their market with it? We are doing the same thing to American farmers...... So what has America done to hurt Canadians?
-
I guess my point flew over your head. Perhaps from British Columbia.........ask those that work in our Automoblie industry back east though. They don't buy technology, they steal it, then make themselves. Again, the point went over your head........China will not purchase Canadian manufactured goods at anything close to the same rate as that of the United States. In (not) doing so, a large sector of Canadians will be out of work.

So I take it, nobody knows what the BC NDP's platform is then.

How does thinking <my opinion> Putin to be worse then Bush ......anti Canadian?

I'm in favour of debt reduction, what would make you think otherwise? I'm also in favour of stimulating the economy, which in turn will afford us more money.......is leaving a healthy economy a bad thing for your children? Something else, but I feel it far to complex for you to understand.........common sense. -
New Mad Cow case in USA possible
Stoker replied to caesar's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Sure, that sounds logical.........but I'm sure we see that logic from a different stance So what happen if the international body finds that the cow came from a Canadian herd? -
But the real question is whether this arms race will be an Amercian vs. Russian affair or an America and Russia vs. China race......Don't Putin and Bush get along? Can you prove otherwise? Who brought up Canada/US relations?

Does a 13 year old recieve a tax refund for buying bubble gum and hockey cards? He recieved the benifit of the money we spent, just a I received the benifit of the money spent by people older then I. I'm not arguning whether or not Blue can have an opinion or not (To tell you the truth, I don't really care), what I'm pointing out though, is the perceived negative view Blue holds for tax cuts and the benifits in which they bring to our economy. Blue, is your opinion based on ignorance or something else? Or to piss away on a brand new Chev truck, which in turn puts money in the pocket of the salesman and the owner of the dealership, which in turn purchases more Trucks to replace the ones sold, which gives worker to the automotive industry....etc......not too mention, all the links in this change, with their new found money, will also start a "chain reaction" (to varying degress) such as my example above........How is this bad for Canada? Where does it mention in the charter wealth redistribution? Also, define a greedy bastard. Perhaps the person with "4 cars and 2 houses", did or didn't work harder, but he or she obviously worked smarter......... Good point August........whats your computer worth Maple? I'm sure if you sold it, you rich greedy bastard you, you could feed quite a number of people rice in the third world........Do you own a car Maple? A home? Flatware? -

And what if the cow is traced back to a Canadian herd? -
We are a trade exporter.........do you really think Chinese people are going to start buying Nike running shoes that where made in Canada? And do you know why China will replace us? Because Chinese goods will be/are cheaper then Canadian goods........So again, how is it that you beleive that China will purchase Canadian goods? Raw resources perhaps, but not goods.......I think General Motors's biggest plant is in China.....

Who's going to charge Bush? Who has the moxy?

And if somebody asked me a question, I'd respond.....and no, I'm not a child rapist. Why do you ask? Does Child rape have something to do with our budget surplus and to what it should be spent on? I remeber the rumours about Bill Grahman and a male teenager in the 80s......never heard anything about Goodale.....do you have some dirt or something? With that said, I could understand why tax cuts would not mater to somebody that doesn't pay taxes..... -
And why was that exemption put into place?
-
It does not mater.........all that has to happan is that the United States has to adjust the tariffs.........that does not mean that the tariffs won't still be there (abit at a lower rate). And it brings us back to the fact that might makes right........The United States could tell the WTO to poke it and pull out of NAFTA. That will hurt us alot more then it will hurt them.
-
Why didn't you just cut and past the Red Star editorial? Should Canada indict Bush? But in all seriousness though, why hasn't any country/body followed through with this, if they feel this is such a pressing mater? Are they all hot air? Or does this come full circle with my post of a couple of days ago in the free trade thread........Might makes right.

Where did I treat Blue poorly? I asked him a question. Also, who says that our surplus can't be put towards, Healthcare, education, defence, debt reduction and tax cuts? All of those areas need to be addressed to they not?
