  1. Exactly........the State (Canada), not the States (and Bush) are to blame (if there is any) on this mater. What would you like to know?
  2. I've only heard how bad it is from left wing fear mongers.......funny thing is, they haven't provided any real proof to back-up their claims. Do wish to be a first? If that is truely the case, shouldn't your anger be directed at our government as opposed to that of the Americans? Where is this wide spread repression? What democratic prograss has been sent back? Who and where are these slaves born from the Patriot act?
  3. What suspicions are those?
  4. If a poll was taken between Americans (who have been attacked) and Canadians (who have not) I would expect that less Canadians would approve (as is the case on the board here) then Americans. I also wonder, if a poll could be taken on pre and post 9/11 Americans, what those results would look like. It's a shame that most Canadians don't realize their own history, learn the mistakes of others and just plain keep their heads in the sand. My only wish is that it doesn't take a terror attack on Canadian soil to change this view. And sometimes politicans have to make hard choices, most being unpopular, and take the nations best intrests at hand. Caesar, if you were home alone and were to face a home invasion would you defend yourself? Also, if you had prior knowledge of the home invasion (in that the crook told you he was going to do it), how would you react? What "hard won freedoms" have been lost exactly? What have you been asked to "sacrifice" for this "cause" of the evil Bush administration?
  5. Whats worse than death and destruction casued by a terrorist attack or a break-out of another SARS-like virus? Actions speak louder than words
  6. Is it not a right to be safe in ones own country? If you lived in BC, you still hold your rights.........if you disagree with Campbell, you have the right to vote him out in the Spring. Now Hugo, as a Canadian, would you not want the government to use all means necessary to protect you from a terrorist attack and/or a public health crisis?
  7. Did the United States use that persons medical records against them? Sure I would.......If there was a rape/murder in my area (and I fit the general discription of the suspect) and the police asked for samples, I'd be more then willing to give mine. If I were a suspect in a crime, would the police need my consent to moniter my activities? If that rash could lead to a public health crisis, it should be everybodys. Who's doing the fear mongering again? I'm saying there is nothing to worry about, and your making something out of nothing Is the United States government publishing the records? Making them avalibale on the internet for the public? With that said, if I thought I could sell a book about my life, and make buckets of money, I would. Some agenda? What was the reason for the Patriot act? There's your agenda...... Sure. The Patriot act was passed to ease law enforcements job in fighting terror and terror related crimes. As for your second question, if you live in BC, when the Campbell government gave your records to American companies, he (not the Americans) gave up "your rights". It's quite obvious that conventional methods might not always work {see 9/11}. Now I've answered your questions, answer mine. As a Canadian, would you not want the government to use all means necessary to protect you from a terrorist attack and/or a public health crisis?
  8. Is anybody going to answer how the United States government is going to use medical records against you? If you are a terrorist threat, your a terrorist threat...... If you are a potentail health hazard, your a health hazard..... Would we as Canadians want terrorist threats and potentail health threats into Canada?
  9. So you fear that the United States government is going to use your medical records to blackmail you?
  10. What sort of data are we talking about? Also, whats dangerous and stupid about it?
  11. caesar, I'm more then willing to discuss this topic with you, but can we keep this at an adult level? For the last time, is the cause of the "belly aching" not important?
  12. I've nothing to hide, do you? As a taxpayer (that lives in BC), I'm rather glad to hear that our government is looking at ways to save taxpayer money.
  13. Again, is the cause of the "belly aching" not important? Where there is smoke (Provincal belly aching), there is fire(the cause of the belly aching).
  14. So the cause of the "belly aching" is not important? What if it spreads to the "proud provinces"?
  15. Would you want a Prime Minister that puts another nations best intrests above our own? But what if we are not a proud nation? In the above quote you state: "everyone knew the name of a Canadian Prime Minister" then you bring up "pride"? If you were a proud nation, would it mater if "everybody" knows who our Prime Minister is? Also, if we were a "proud nation", why do we need to bring everybody together? Wouldn't we all ready be together? So what is it?
  16. It was a rhetorical question With my point being, as it stands now (and if the Bloc favor this idea), Harper is no worse off without Liberal or NDP support........... Just think, if the majority of the Quebec seperatists were in favor of this idea as a final settlement over the sovereignty question, Harper could campaign on being the leader that will "save Canada". IOW, with a few pieces of legislation, Harper could put an end to the Quebec sovereignty debate and Western alienation. *That is if the Bloc are in favour of his idea* Wouldn't Ontario and the Maritimes be in favour of that ?
  17. Ridicule from who though? Liberal and NDP supporters? How many seats does the Bloc and Cons have again? WRT the idea itself, as a so called "western separatist", I feel that this could be a fair middle ground....now the big question.......do Bloc supporters?
  18. Emily Carr should have made the list.......I'm surprised that Gordon Lightfoot was not in the top twenty atleast All in all, I thought it was abit skewed.......but thats democracy for yeah
  19. Not denying the allegations, but whether they are true or not, is another debate
  20. I thought ole Jean Crouton soured our relations with them also Who are we standing with? Have our relations with Russia, France, Germany and China improved over the last couple of years? Did I miss something?
  21. Just an open question to anybody: Who does Canada have (what most would call) good relations with these days? We seem to be pissing off all of our old friends, what new friends are we making?
  22. What was this topic on?
  23. How would the possable poor judgement of a Canadian sub commander "suit my purpose"?
  24. Are you saying that the CBC would post unreliable information? Can I quote you on that?
  25. To get back on topic: Sub commander refused airlifts on day of fire: radio log
