  1. That is my question. How is it good for us? So far you haven't answered it.
  2. Uhhh...yes. 26% support for Mr. Dion and 18% for Layton. Ah sorry, they both 2 out of 10 Canadians to vote for each of them respectively. Our PM got double that.
  3. Absolutely false. When my family came here they didn't sit on the public dole as their was none. They got to work and helped build it. What are these people contributing while using my tax dollars to live when we are under such strain? Canada is becoming a huge Salvation Army homeless shelter.
  4. If Canadians are under a financial strain and hard economic times how does it help to keep the doors open when many of these people put great strain on our system?
  5. Mr. Martin won about the same amount of support as Mr. Harper did. Did you call for him to step down right after the election? Mr. Dion barely got 2 in 10 of the votes. Our PM got double the votes of Mr. Dion. Mr. Layton got 1 in 10 of the votes. Should he step down as well?
  6. I'm really tired of people saying that 2/3 of Canadians didn't vote for Mr. Harper and the Conservatives. They seem to leave out that barely 2 in 10 voted for Mr.Dion and barely 1 in 10 voted for Mr. Layton. Every region of the country agreed and wanted a Torie majority except Quebec who, for the most part, rejected the conservatives. However the Liberals and the NDP were also rejected by Quebec so that is a dead issue. Even Ontario was on board with 51% of the popular vote. The Liberals are not a national party at all and are very regional. Something many here labeled the Conservatives as but as we can see today the Tories have seats all across the country in almost every province. The Liberals cannot make such a boast. Dion made a mistake and the Liberals are going to sink further.
  7. Congratulations to the two people who won. Both were fairly written entries. Also to Greg for sponsoring such a contest that promotes discussion about politics.
  8. CBC is pounding Dr. C. Bennett right now on NW. She is has some good poise. She hit the nail on the head though. She said that before the funding restrictions came in 80% of the Liberal money came from the Corporate sector, while 80% of the conservative funds come from people. That and only 5% of members of the Liberal party donate cash. While 50% of Conservative members do. The LPC needs to rethink their fund raising...no surprise there. Everyone here, supporting every party, knows that. I almost feel sorry for Mr. Dion and the Liberals, almost.
  9. I akin this type of behavior to pouting. Since this bb is dominated by Left wingers, the outing gets bad when conservatives win once in a while. Sore losers if you ask me.
  10. There are times to be partisan. If not. The party stands for nothing. Look at the Liberals...all wishy washy at present.
  11. That is a cult not a religion. It started with ones predictions for the end of time. Which he was wrong three times.
  12. Ok, I understand what you are saying jdobbin and you make some interesting points in the second half, however... The same things were being said two years ago, after ADscam and the RCMP things surfaced. Just wait for the Liberals to get stronger etc. Well two years have passed and they are weaker. I have no reason to believe, nor have they given us any reason to believe that this will change anytime soon. In fact, just the opposite is being revealed. The LPC has so much infighting that they seem incapable of running their own party never mind a country. Just sounds like wishful thinking to me, as it were. Mr. Harper will push through whatever he wants for a while in terms of new legislation before he has to calm down a little. How much depends on the Liberals. Mr. Dions press meeting is soon, perhaps we will get some new things to discuss.
  13. jdobbin, you know as well as I do that the economic troubles are a world crisis and not made in Canada. Canada has very little influence economically to turn around a world slowdown. Not our PM's fault at all for things out of his control and you know it. Our PM will not call an election within the first 2 years. I don't know why you keep saying this. You say this at least 3 times a day on this board. Maybe you're trying to start a rumor so it will get news play. It would be suicide and our PM would lose seats.
  14. The longer he stays on the better it is for our PM, Stephan Harper. It must be great for the other parties to have a lame duck leader running the official opposition.
  15. I am against almost any foreign aid so I don't like this at all. There are Canadians who are poor and live in squalor who could use this money much more. The social housing in Toronto is in total disrepair and needs to be cleaned up, as seen on W5.
  16. Mr. Dion is really puzzled by the fact that Canadians aren't responding to him. It is really quite beyond him and his reasoning. @ jdobbin, unless another Liberal "Adscam" or some other Liberal scam surfaces. Otherwise it's not good politics for our PM to call an election too soon.
  17. Yep, I agree wholeheartedly. He was a real charmer. I guess he had to be if was going to change the constitution and turn Canada into a socialist country.
  18. So as soon as the Liberals have a new leader they will force an election is that what you're claiming? I hope they do. The Canadian voters will be so upset and vote against the Liberals. I do hope that happens. Canadians tired of the constant Liberal corruption, Adscam, countless RCMP investigations, etc. Canadians have had enough of that sort of government. Thank God that we have the RH Stephan Harper and the Conservatives to save us. EDIT - To everyone else. The Liberals are supposed to be a centrist party but have since moved to the left. They are not true to their roots at all. How can the Canadian voter be asked to trust a party that keeps changing its identity?
  19. That was a funny read, thank you. If the RH Stephen Harper's campaign was disastrous then Mr. Dion('s) was just plain bad. The entire Liberal platform was this - Vote us in and we'll raise your taxes, oh and by the way, we have no plan or policy but don't fret we'll spend the first 30 days in office trying to come up with some policy as right now we don't have one. - Basically Mr. Dion was saying - just trust me- We've been there before. The last time Canadians trusted the Liberal party, we uncovered Adscam and countless RCMP investigations.
  20. A very honest post jdobbin. With many plausible theories. Thank you.
  21. Nobody except Mr. Dion of course. RH Stephan Harper is PM because he was the best leader out of the choices. Plain, simple and easy to understand. Even a good percentage of people who voted for the LPC agreed that the PM has the best vision for the country, is the best party leader and has the best leadership qualities.
  22. Usually jdobbin has useful things to say but not on this. The PM cannot possibly call another election that Canadians don't want, he would lose seats. He is to blame for this election if he calls another in 6 months he is done as leader of the CPC. Maybe that's why jdobbin wants him top call one. He won't. Calling another election so soon would tell the Canadian people that he doesn't trust them. No politician can afford that. If the RH Stephan Harper wants an election he will force the opposition to vote against a bill. Right now the PM does have a majority and push any legislation he wants through as no party wants to be on the hook for triggering an election so soon after this one. That party will be labeled as one that doesn't or cannot make this government work. That would haunt this party throughout an entire campaign and would be devastating in the polls. If jdobbin really thinks that the RH Stephan Harper will call the next election he/she is not based in reality I'm afraid. Ask him what advantage it would be for the PM to call the next election. There is none. According to the pundits here, the PM is a control freak. Now why would a control freak call an election that would anger the electorate and cause the CPC to lose seats? It doesn't make any sense.
  23. Funny how before the election all the partisans here were labeling him the next PM. I don't believe you did but many did. I don't want the RH Stephan Harper to run in the next election either, I want a new party leader in place as well. He is too damaged by his past imo. Maybe not, but probably.
  24. For any party, absolutely correct. It will probably take another 6 or 7 years until the LPC has it's affairs in order and a reasonable person in place as leader. EDIT-They have a lot of recovery to do after all that money was stolen during the Adscam program.
