  1. I for one would like to see them cut some out some of these pet projects and cut down the amount of foreign aid. That could free up billions of dollars($1,000,000,000's). Certainly we can cut at least $500,000,000 someplace.
  2. Not hard to swallow at all. It's probably accurate. I'm not saying that Canadian born citizens are above any other. My whole point is that everyone as a society has to work hard. We seem to be in a period of public mentality where it says that 'it's ok not to work, the government will cut me a cheque'. This has been born out of left wing ideals that government knows best directly relating to the length of term for the LPC.. It's a socialist mentality and we have to change that way of thinking as best we can for the betterment of Canada.
  3. And I thought all artists were flaky. You've proven the stigma wrong lol. My wife's sister is an artist so I say this with some experience. She's in graphic design for a major network but an artist just the same.
  4. A minority government is exactly what the BQ want so they can pressure the sitting government to their means. For once madmax we agree.
  5. The LPC is far from dead. They need to reinvent themselves like the conservative movement in this country did. SO far they are still the rank and file that ADscam is connected to. They need to distance themselves from that and give Canadians something new to think about. And I don't mean a new carbon tax scheme EDIT- drewski, can you use the <shift> key more often after periods. It would make your points easier to follow
  6. Alright M.Dancer who spiked your coffee this morning, you're making a lot of sense today.
  7. Ontario has to get away from a province that makes things into a province that creates new technology through ideas. We must nurture our youth to stay in Canada and make it a better place so we can get past this. New industries will be the mantra and then renewed growth can happen.
  8. Only if these people are putting something into the economy. Having these people on welfare is just like giving the money straight to the corporations where they are likely to shop a la Wal Mart. Fully funded by our government. Which is why we need to get the new Doctors and dentists Canadian certified quickly upon arrival so they can start contributing.
  9. My buddies father gets like $269 a month. That keeps the utilities paid and not much else.
  10. I see your point but the BQ only runs candidates in Qc plus they are a populist party. The Greens are more of a fringe party and run candidates in all 308 ridings. The BQ have a concentrated base of support and have developed that. The Greens do not and have not. Not really fair to compare those two.
  11. More people = More consumers
  12. I listen to this as much as I can daily. When I'm at the office I have it on on my pc. I find the discussion lively and entertaining and full of common sense.
  13. This isn't even practical at all. Probably explains why this topic is so cold.
  14. Ok, I'll bite PoliticalCitizen. How isn't Canada being fairly represented? EDIT- @M.Dancer - exactly.
  15. Ah but it is true. The suburbs are further away than the suburbs of old. I'll use the GTA as an example as that is where I grew up. It used to be nice and quiet in Mississauga and Brampton. Bedroom communities but since the large influx it is no longer so. These two places have more crime now then ever before as they have more people. Violent crime and gangs at that. This is fact. I now live in Halton Hills where we do not have these problems and have no transit. Everything is quiet and peaceful. Coincidence? I want my kids to think for themselves and not believe everything just because a teacher or anyone including myself says that it is so. Look at the facts and decide for yourself.
  16. I heard no outcry to change it when the Liberals were winning elections. Only now that your guy/gal didn't get in. The person with the most votes wins, what's fairer than that?
  17. We do need immigrants but we need skilled ones. However it has been reported that 30% of immigrants that come here with qualifications are on social assistance or are working in fields not pertaining to their expertise. Canada needs to do something about this. If Canada is admitting these skilled people they would be better serving Canada by working in their area of training. Not by slackening the requirements but by getting these people certified to Canadian standards quicker so they aren't languishing in a taxi cab or on the public dole.
  18. I hear what you are saying and to some degree you are correct however the conservatives have already been doing things to give people more choice. The Liberal position is that government knows best and are a proponent of bigger government. We've already seen what that leads to. Whereas the conservatives are more interested in having smaller government and giving the Canadian public more control over how to spend their tax dollars. Look to Alberta for a prime example. All of Canada should be like this. Smaller government. More choice of schooling, privatization of many services that are currently government run elsewhere such as beer and liquor sales, driving exams(which is private in Ontario now as well), etc, etc. So far the Tories are the only party willing to trust Canadians to make up their own minds such as in the GST rebate cheques, tax cuts for working families and a monthly childcare benefit for parents and created a new Tax-Free Savings account program. These options equal more choice for me and you.
  19. Listen, we could finger point til' the cows come home and no one would change anyone's mind. What we need is some solidarity. We all obviously love this country and are passionate about it and want to see it succeed. We wouldn't be so argumentative if this weren't true. Mr. Harper needs to listen to all ideas from all sides, even going so far as to perhaps have some smart people from the opposing side in on some committees to find some solutions to our problems that we can all live with. I've grown tired of the constant bickering, we are mimicking the last session. This is a new session we need new ways to accomplish sustainable goals.
  20. I'm not going to play your game M.Dancer. Mr. Harper won seats right across the country in every region, A majority in BC, AB, SK,Man, On, Nvt, and NB. Won seats in every Province except Nfld. The Liberals cannot say the same thing. Canadians overwhelmingly said yes to a Torie majority except in Quebec. They only won 10 seats there. If the conservatives would have won more seats in Quebec they would have their majority, the remainder of the provinces do not matter. All the above statements are true. The Liberals are a failed party and will be a very long time before they ever come back into power. Maybe you trust them but the majority of Canadians do not share your view.
  21. This isn't the USA and the Premiers aren't governors. For people who claim to dislike the USA y'all sure like their democratic process.
  22. Very true. If anything the Tories want more people to vote for the NDP to further dilute the Liberals.
  23. They were headed in that direction long before the RH Stephan Harper came into the PMO. Did you follow economics 3 years ago? Go look the library and look at some microfilm newspapers from 3+ years ago. I know that everything is our PM's fault but in reality the Liberals were in the PMO for 49 of the last 58 years go talk to them.
  24. I refuse to put my children in the public school system for just this reason. A lot of the kids are uncivilized and paints a clear picture of how their parents must be, a mess. I'm not talking about the odd fight, boys will be boys after all. I draw the line when 10 year olds are stabbing each other. That is not ok and obviously a problem from their home with the parenting or lack thereof. Thank goodness for many who use the public system that these brats are mostly in the inner cities and away from where the civilized people live. That plus I don't want my children brainwashed 8 hours a day by some socialist.
