  1. The Liberals will be lucky to win 80 seats. Prob end up with 70 - 75 seats.
  2. I agree he is far more socially progressive than I would have thought. He spends a lot of money on social programs. Thanks for pointing that out.
  3. I would love to see him completely ignore the areas don't vote any MP's in. Ignore any request from Toronto, Mtl or Vancouver or move slowly. Pay attention to the areas that voted the PM in. That's what the Quebecois PM's do, ignore the west unless it comes to our oil sand money. Funny how everyone is quick to condemn the oil sands put they have no problem taking the oil money.
  4. It is because of immigrants that the wages stay low across the board and that seniors have to keep working into their retirement years.
  5. I agree wholeheartedly. I think that the ideas and policy should come from smart people from any and all political stripes. The CPC or the LPC or the NDP do not have the monopoly on good ideas. Every party has good ideas. At the same time I don't want all the parties to be the same or else we will have Soviet style socialism. That I don't want.
  6. This thread really is a non starter. Nothing will come from it.
  7. That may be but I'd rather run over cost on justice and have safer streets then trying to counsel hardened violent offenders with a hug a thug mentality which they must be just laughing at.
  8. No, no, no. Not so linear please. We let people in and until/if they get jobs here our taxes pay for their housing, food, transportation, job training, education etc when they haven't put dime one into the jar. Since more resources need to be diverted from things useful to the Canadian citizens. This is what happens how can you possibly deny this. So if there are less jobs for anybody what sense does it make to keep the flood gates wide open when we have Canadians who are starving and without work.
  9. Now this is interesting. More of the same is exactly why I support Mr. Harper. More stability in government, more common sense approach to childcare and social and special interest programs, more sustainable plans for the environment and the economy? Hell yes! I really hope that you're not suggesting that we be soft on crime. The Liberals have already done that and the hug a thug approach doesn't work so I'd rather have them locked up the out on the streets. Additionally gun control has little to nothing to do with street crime as people who live and commit crimes in the ghettos do not register their guns or buy them legally. They buy guns from the USA. So tighter border controls are needed indeed. Every politician is partisan so no points there either.
  10. Any and all intelligent conversation is welcome. I think it is a very valid concern for run of the mill Canadians since it is these Canadians that new comers displace. I just want to hear the leftist pov more than anything else. If the economy is headed for such dire straits as the NDP and Liberals would have us believe is it responsible for gov't to keep the doors wide open to new comers, given the fact that they can put the social system under great strain? I'm wanting to raise issues that don't get much if any play by the talking heads.
  11. I think it is foolish to say anything other then what everyone knows. The RH Stephen Harper will win this election by a landslide and be bordering on a majority if they do not get one. So what is next for the parties including the CPC?
  12. Must have pressed enter twice by accident, my apologies.
  13. OK , I went back and re-read this entire thread. jdobbin, I have 2 questions for you. 1. Do you always swallow everything the Liberals feed us whole? 2. Do you really find Dion to be a strong leader? I'm not asking to be argumentative at all btw. Nor will I respond to the thread in a unproductive fashion if at all. I just want to understand your stance.
  14. Jdobbin, I think everyone should vote. I don't care who they vote for or if they vote for my guy or not. Supporting the process is what's important not who anyone votes for.
  15. We need the lefties just like the lefties need us. Who would we have to blame if not each other?
  16. Ok so you're assuming that these sponsorees are of working age, most are not as many are elderly. People of working age need to further their schooling here as their educations from their birth countries are not up to our standards. Even people that come here are sending most of their earnings back home and not spending it here at all. That money is being spent in the birth countries, again weakening Canada.
  17. Oh yeah that would be great for the lefties wouldn't it? There is only one Conservative party in Canada. The three others are leftist. All minority gov's all the time. Not only that but the Lefties would all work together so the CPC would never get a chance to do anything. 26 years in a row then 13 years in a row and the Liberals still want more power in this country...wow.
  18. And that is fine, just don't expect me to have to pay for them and their care. They pay nothing into our system and reap all the benefits of it and put further strain on it, which raises my taxes. Not fair.
  19. The Liberals are doing such a great job in Caladonia eh kengs333? Letting those people run wild and control the streets with lawlessness without any penalty. Sorry, that's not my idea of good government. I guess that's the difference between the Conservative and Liberal party. Conservatives will do the hard jobs even though they may be unpopular and the Liberals will just wait for the Conservatives to do the hard jobs as they don't have the backbone to do the hard jobs out of fear of the media.
  20. What is wrong with that? Why shouldn't the citizens of Canada come first?
  21. The LPC claim on surpluses are a direct result from the GST that the LPC had promised to get rid of in the 1993 Red Book(which of course they didn't...the first of many lies). It is a result of over taxation, plain and simple. Governments aren't supposed to run surpluses. If they do the people are over taxed. Spending these over taxes on new pet programs isn't prudent. Mulroney say a problem and instead of pointing fingers, took action and very bravely implemented a new and non-perm tax that would ensure he wouldn't be re-elected but did it for the sake of Canada. Out of his love for Canada. While LPC reap the benefits of the tax and paint themselves as heros. So on one side we have the brave, brave men, women and families of the Conservatives and the opportunistic and silver tongued residents, the Liberals.
  22. Yes, they do. You see, because of there past history with blacks they must now over compensate there kindness towards blacks and coloreds. To do anything less they will be deemed racists. If Obama doesn't get elected the media or the Dem. will be calling people racists. Guaranteed. I would even say that many many people on this forum would be doing just that as well.
  23. I'm sorry but I don't see the government as the best money managers in the country. These people cannot keep their books in order for a 2-4 year term and I'm supposed to trust them to invest our money for decades? As it is we don't have a choice, the CPP is a fact of life and won't be dissolved. I think too many people are over reacting and listening to the fear mongering of the talking heads of various political stripes. If everyone remains calm and doesn't buy into this alarmist mentality you may find that the sky isn't falling after all. Highly comical, I needed a good chuckle. Thank you.
  24. Yep, that's what politics is nowadays. Just talk about the other guy and as least about myself as possible, ignoring the real issues. The politicians look at us the great unwashed and as idiots. You all realize this right?
  25. With RB, it was bad luck really. It was the worst years of the Great Depression, a worldly phenomenon and hardly his or the CPC's fault. He took action at least, tried to do something innovative. King was lucky to have the war after the 1935 election. What's Dions plan? To tax us some more with a Carbon Tax? Yeah that's Earth shattering and bound to work Mulroney's reign came after 26 years of Liberal power. So any economic problems must be the Liberals own fault. Cannot be the CPC as they haven't had power for 26 years at that time. He cleaned up the mess that the Trudeau created and the CPC was thanked by being beatn again by the LPC. Same drill now with Harper, cleaning up Chretien's and Martin's mess. It seems the CPC is constantly cleaning up the books for the Liberals only to be demonized by them instead of thanked. Once the books are cleaned up. The LPC takes over with a clean slate only to mess it all up again. Don't worry though the CPC will be there again to clean it up.
