  1. You misunderstand. I meant they have support in every region of the country unlike the Liberals. Every region of the country wanted a conservative majority except Quebec which held them back. When I say a majority I'm talking 39-40%, since that is the magic number for a majority of 155 seats. If you read my post I stated the provinces that got 50%+ of the votes and I didn't include those you just listed, so I don't understand the problem.
  2. Uhm, Mr. Harper won seats right across the country in every region, A majority in BC, AB, SK,Man, On, Nvt, and NB. Won seats in every Province except Nfld. The Liberals cannot say the same thing. How is that not a national party? The Liberals are more a regional party. Btw Canadians overwhelmingly said yes to a Torie majority except in quebec. They only won 10 seats there. Here is a map so you can see what I'm talking about.
  3. Agreed. Harper isn't a fool. He knows that once something is out on TV it calls to question the person being attacked. Completely true doesn't matter, once it's on TV it's over. It's out there now and no amount of suspensions will take it back. The damage has been done he has done his job.
  4. Walk into any OHIP or Social Service office in any bigger city and tell me what you see there. No amount of spin will deny the truth. How long can we afford to do this in these times of economic uncertainty? We need skilled workers.
  5. He served his time in the penalty box and is now ready to rejoin the team. It was a suspension, not a firing. He admitted he was a bad boy and he has learned his lesson. I don't see the problem.
  6. Canadians are better off with a conservative majority then a minority. I doubt anyone's life will change no matter who is in power. You guys are worrying about nothing. What's the worst that can happen?
  7. I'm sure he is but he cannot call it himself, he has to blame it on someone else. I agree with you though. You've made a believer out of me. Not yet though. He should wait for the full implosion of that party. It's going to exciting very soon I'm sure. He still cannot call it himself he needs to pin it in on the Liberals somehow. Maybe make a throne speech that they don't like. Get them to vote against it. Our PM has to keep up the attack ads on the Liberal party.
  8. I'm just sitting back and watching the show...lol. It is going to be years before that party gets it together. They are going to lose even more votes next election. It's going to be glorious.
  9. Your point is what? Without all that oil money, Ontario would have nothing for their pet programs. Billions of oil dollars flow to Ontario and nothing flows back. People claim to hate big oil but that is a lot of jobs that you'd like to pull the plug on. Outrageous. Without the oil sands the economy would be much worse off, obviously. I look forward to reading your paper on renewable resources Topaz. Let me know when you've completed it. The NDP just hates it cause it's not union labour. That is off topic and not in the scope of this discussion anyways. So again what is your point? In case you cannot read the topic header. it says "Liberals looking for new leader, Dion announces resignation"
  10. Yeah he's pretty good too. I like the two CTV shows as well.
  11. Ah thank you Greg.
  12. Better call it the Toronto party as the rest of Ontario is conservative for the most part.
  13. You just don't get it. A conservative wants to give the poor a hand up where as the rest want to give the poor a hand out. A conservative wants to decide for them selves how to best spend their money where as a Liberal thinks the government knows best. Smaller government, less taxes, less government control on our lives. That's what a conservative wants for the most part. Edit- How that sounds bad I have no idea.
  14. National Housing Strategy is another way of saying Social Housing. Government controlled housing creating ghettos in nice neighborhoods as is what is happening now.
  15. You really must look up some definitions M.Dancer. A "talking head" is a television pundit and a pundit is someone who espouses their views onto the public through some form of mass media. Mr. Paiken does not do this, he has a panel and lets them talk and he serves as mediator. Yeah, you really should read some definitions sometime. I watch every political program I can find. If I'm not home I PVR them. Yeah I'm a political junkie. It beats the hell out of sit coms. EDIT- I'm sure that everyone you like works for free M.Dancer. Damn you're one of the most cynical people I've ever read, constantly looking at the dark side. I don't really care what they make, it's the substance of the program that I'm interested in. Who meets your criteria M.Dancer?
  16. M.Dancer, you have been writing a lot of sensible things lately. Are you coming down with something?
  17. Ahhh, another proponent of what I call the Mad Max world.
  18. M.Dancer, I don't think this guy does any research other than from conspiracy sites.
  19. Nice try. Stephan Harper was a member of the Junior Liberals in High school and joined a conservative movement shortly after. Mr. Rae has been in the labour movement for over 20 years, a long standing member of the NDP(22 years), a MP, then its provincial leader, then premier of Ontario. Slightly different.
  20. Paul Martin got even less of the vote than PM Harper with 36.7% in 2004 yet I heard no outcry from Left Wingers about it.
  21. Don't do it unless you are prepared for your crime rate to go up. As any significant new development has to include some form of social housing. Once people move into that housing drugs, prostitution and property crime will rise dramatically. The whole culture of social housing seems to have an obligation to crime. I've been to White Rock, it's a very nice, small community right on the border. Trust me keep it that way. Look whats happened to Surrey and Burnaby. Do you want that for White Rock as well? Oppose public Transit at every meeting, every chance you get. Once you have public transit, it's all over as the poor people start coming and with them, the crime wave.
  22. I'm really glad that Peter and his ilk are at a vast minority in this country. I hope he hasn't procreated and poisoned his children with such traitorous values, it's sickening. He is only able to enjoy that drink in his house because of the sacrifices made by Canadian soldiers, that is fact. It's unfortunate that he doesn't see value for people dying for him to be able to enjoy his life.
  23. Perhaps you haven't been in Canada or Ontario long enough to know the history of Bob Rae. Read about him and his history and you'll see what's wrong with the man, he's tainted. If they're smart they'll patch things up with John Manley, elect him leader and move the party back to the centre before Mr. Harper scoops up all those centrist votes.
