What would be the point in this if the CPC get in they are suppose to govern all of Canada not just the areas that voted for them. These regions like montreal, toronto, vancover and ect need representation inside the governmening party. If you act vindictive your further alienate these people and they are less likely to give you the benfit if thdoubt the next time. We sould not be playing those types of regionally divisive politics, it does nothing but weaken the country.

Bob Rae as Finance Minister?

In a good democracy this already happens but you need the opposition to debate and hash out the plans as a check and balance. -
Expert says Cadman tape not altered: court record
Alta4ever replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It is not the Job of a commitee to act as a court of law. Even the speaker of the house (a liberal) sided with Art. They are there to act as lawmakers, not judge and jury. The Cadman affair is for the RCMP and courts. Get over it! -
Bob Rae as Finance Minister?
Alta4ever replied to fellowtraveller's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If you move to that then you also need a regionally proportional senate or other elected body. Otherwise then every government could be conceivablely formed from just one province. -
Why should the cpc replace him? Just to appease you? You would never vote CPC no matter who the leader was.

"The Liberals played us beautifully!"

What if you the candidate that you threw away your vote with was actually worse turned out to be worse then the one that you had actually wanted to vote for? Was it worth it then? -

I'm surprised this post has been ignored, I wonder if their will be any actual swaps or if they are just engineering more votes for one party would be interesting for someone to really look into this. BUt then who would throw their vote to a party on a negative, even if they have nothing to offer that person or riding? What ever happened to voting for a party and a platform? -
This is not exactly true, the republicans tried to fix the system on three seperate occasions over the last 8 years, and all three times they were blocked by Barney Frank and the Democrats. The current mess in the US was created over a long period of different adminstrations, but the tipping point and lack of foresight rests squarely on the shoulders of the House Democrats and Barney Frank.

Sorry but facism did not blossom out of libertarians and conservatives, it evolved from socialists, and progressives. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressivism

Canada = World's Best Banking System
Alta4ever replied to Jobu's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No its because Canadian banks are tightening up their lending practices. Its their right to do it, just because the prime rate is down doesn't mean everbody will get a prefered rate just those with good credit rating. -

The Difference between a Liberal and Conservative

I know what the use of the war measures act was in response to 2 kidnapings. YES REALLY 2. Never before was the War measures act used not in two world wars, not in the War in 1812, not at any other point in Canadian History. He stepped on the rights of all Canadians that day, and showed his tendancies to socialist totalitarian control. That is the history of the left in this country. Trudeau didn't just study socialism, communisim and fascism, he idolized leaders of these ideologies. He beleived in some very scary ideas. There are a number of books out their, even one that was an authorized Biography (by him no less) that he provided the a lot of the written documentation (things he had saved). I beleive it is called Young Trudeau. You should read it. -

NATO does not pay for troops to be deployed. We the taxpayers do. Look I'm sorry that I pushed so hard on this, but I hate all the miss information that goes out to the public, and I will challege it when I see, just as someone would challege me if I posted something that was wrong. Poltics isn't about the truth, that can be subjective, what isn't is the facts. -

I think that the Common law set through precidents is a better protector of these Rights as they cannot be amended like the US constitution can be. -

No but I was curious to what degree you would like to have socialism in this country taken. Under Trudeau we weren't that far from where Venezuela is now. Trudeau idolized Castro and Kruschev, he nationalized many industries and even declared a police state in quebec. -

They are not we could really have a different monarch then Britain. This page lists those monarchs who have reigned over Canada since Confederation in 1867, at which time the country was deemed to have become a kingdom in its own right.[1] However, though the country became self-governing Dominion within the British Empire in 1867, the concept of the state being in a full personal union with the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms did not emerge until the passage of the Statute of Westminster in 1931.[2][3][4][5] Since that time, the Canadian Crown has been recognized as legally distinct from the crowns of the other Commonwealth realms, meaning that Canada has a distinct national monarch.[6] Still, though the term King of Canada was used as early as the beginning of the reign of George VI, it was not until 1953 that the style was made official; Elizabeth II was the first monarch to be separately proclaimed as Queen of Canada, by the Royal Style and Titles Act. For a longer list of monarchs of territories that today comprise Canada, see: History of monarchy in Canada: Monarchs of Canadian territories. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_monarchs If Elizabeth the second is allowed by the British Parliment to by pass her son and go to Prince William, our sucession laws (state of westminister) to the Canadian Crown would me that we would have Prince Charles as our Monarch. -
Why do we have a Governor General?
Alta4ever replied to PoliticalCitizen's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I realize that and want you to retain it, but what I don't want is for you to change mine and my traditions, like the removal of the queen. I want you to respect my traditions and culture as I respect, and want to learn about yours. By wanting to take away my traditional Canadian Monarch you are tring to take away my Canadian Identity. -
Why do we have a Governor General?

That is tied to the Canadian Crown not the British one, there is a difference now that the sucession laws in Britain have changed. -

I am not Dutch Canadian althought that is the ancestry on my fathers side I am Canadian, I am Albertian. I have not made any slur and did not intend to offend anyone. I welcome new cultures because I love to learn about them and their history. If you haven't noticed though most of my posts I study history, all history, and love it. I do my very best to read and learn about all cultures and civilizations. There is lessons to be learned in all of it. I just don't share you belief of what multi-culturalism is, I think this is where we differ. Please don't accuse me of something I am not. Both my mother and father's sides came to this country in different waves. -

What in that post is telling PC what to think? I am tring to find out how far they will follow the socialist ideology. I am not telling anyone what to think just tying to quantify what they are looking for in a socialist state. WOW you have anger problems my friend! -

The queen does not own our land, and the monarch did not write our constitution our constitution was given to us by the British parliment, we have molded it and shaped it ourselves. Did you know that we could end up with a different successor to the Canadian throne than the British? When the British changed their sucession laws we did not.
