  1. Do we have a better historian? Please post here.
  2. What the hell. The New York State Attorney General is going down for involvement in a prostitution ring. WTF? This guy has done so much to clean up the financial markets. And surely it needed a lot of cleaning up. So, is it time to legalize prostitution yet? Enquiring minds want to know.... Hoo haw. Finally a break in the case!
  3. ... is the theatre really dead?...
  4. According to the CBC (March 3, 2008), the problem is that the rule does not kick in until long after everybody has committed their money. It is remarkable to see this sort of nonsense from a government that professes to be pro-business, but considering the Globe And Mail headline (March 4, 2008) indicating that an evangalist was behind the whole thing, who can be surprised?
  5. I see a thread like this and I have to wonder. Is the Earth flat? Is global warming real? Who is Donald Trump's barber?....
  6. And by whom...
  7. Which interests might those be? Having soldiers die in Kandahar for the sake of George Bush's misadventure in Iraq? The Europeans were no dummies. When are we going to see the light?
  8. It never made the news, so it must be history.
  9. If you were McCain, who wants to continue the war in Iraq, or George Bush, who is a little worried that History might see him as an idiot, whom would you rather have as your opponent? Hillary Clinton, who voted in favour of invading Iraq, or Barak Obama, who voted against invading Iraq? And if you were Steven Harper, who has a tendency to look like he might support George Bush and the Republican Party, what might your choice be?
  10. Your problem, M.Dancer, should you accept it, is that you cannot distinguish news from history.
  11. So if a government were to make a target or goal of displacing a civilian population, that would qualify?
  12. George Bush was a folksy guy? Well maybe if you sit him on Dick Cheney's lap. Hoo-ha! With a brother in Florida who goes down to the swamp and toasts the gators. Ha ha. This is rich. George Bush a folksy guy. Amazing.
  13. When you say targets, you are implying an action verb. Which action verb are you referring to?
  14. A subject without a verb (but a present participle), and a spelling error.
  15. Well that's the rub, isn't it? What exactly constitutes a more or less moral side?
  16. Apparently we have an undergrad here.
  17. Whose version of events are we relating here? How would such a meeting take place? Can you see a serious Obama insider flying up to Ottawa in the middle of a hotly contested campaign in Ohio to get the input of the Canadian government?
  18. That's an interesting question. It is a well-documented fact that Israel (under Ben Gurion) sent terrorists into Egypt in an effort to destabilize the Nasser government and that those terrorist were caught, tried and convicted to the great embarrassment of the Israelis.
  19. Why not ask Harper? I believe he was the guy manning the torpedo tubes. Funny that Obama's fortunes in Ohio went so quickly south after a news story that nobody seems to be willing to claim ownership for. Are we all proud to be Canadians now?
  20. We need them in Afghanistan? Damned right they do. To cover for their dumb-a$$ adventure in Mess-o-Potamia. Too bad McCain didn't hit on trade. That's where the jobs are. But then we have NAFTA for that, right?
  21. OK, you asked for it. Cadman in his last days was not going to get into the middle of a big press-o-rama. How would you spend your last days on earth? Being hounded by the press? I don't think so. Nobody can say for sure if his daughter and widow are telling the truth, but neither has a lot to gain, and the daughter has a lot to lose.
  22. Buckley created a national dialogue. The man was a pillar of the right-wing community and essential to the American political dialectic. I did not agree with Buckley's essential premise but the man created a forum in which it could be debated. This is quinitissential American democracy. Buckley was a pillar of American democracy. There are no flies on Buckley as far as I am concerned. And I don't think there is a single time that I ever agreed with a single one of his ideas. I was informed by some of them though. OK, I'm still undecided... "I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to an opinion..." Something like that, anyways.... Put up statues to Buckley. The man had balls.
  23. Helmand is not bad. If he had served in Kandahar like our people, I'd say it's a bigger story. I have to give the man chops for his balls. And a big piss-on-you to the press for breaking the story. Once again the press is bollocks. They are sucking camo-co*k when it comes to the invasion but when the easy money is to be made, they're just a buch of w*ores...
  24. Who knows if the offer was made. I hate Harper, and I think he is a bush-kiss-up moron, but this just a big spin-o-rama.
