  1. Yeah. It's sort of like Couillard isn't it? Personnaly, I know what kind of people Putch and Cheney are, but I also know that once they have been discredited, the spineless discover Viagra. What I realy love about this is that it has the Neocons sucking wind.
  2. I cannot believe there are still people who deny that Israel has nuclear weapons. The Emporer's new clothes? I think so.
  3. Canada.com. I love it. I am not worried, and I am happy.
  4. Ha ha. Buffy is right. This is smelly stuff. Reminds me of that show "World's Worst Jobs". Where did I say "the U.S. and Israel and no one else is interfering in Lebanon"? Speak oh mighty toothless one. The other points you say I make are most certainly true. Let's review them one by one shall we? 1-the U.S. and Israel are interfering in Lebanon. Well what was your first clue? Ha Ha. Are we all supposed to deny it because you say we say ... 2-the U.S. and Israel and no one else is interfering in Lebanon I love this one. Well hey, get a clue, Rue. The Lebanese are Arabs. What did you expect? OK.There are a small number of Christians. Woops. 3-the U.S. and Israel are responsible for the internal conflicts in Lebanon No they just make them a whole bloody lot worse. 4-the Arab League has been acting as a benevolent peace broker in Lebanon to resolve the internal conflicts. They have been trying, but the keyword here is Arab. What did you expect? That they would all convert to Judaism?
  5. Too sad to see Miller's position being denigrated. A sign that cities and mayors in this country have no power. Just too sad.
  6. I see your point, and I think there is a terminological confusion. A government can be Leftist while being Totalitarian, which is iconically Rightist. I think we need a new vocabulary.
  7. Mordecai Vanunu. 'Nuff said.
  8. No kidding. This is a laff riot. George Bush and his puppet master, Fatso Heart Attack, unmasked. I love it. But for the $100K question, how is Scott McLellan like Julie Couillard? I just love it when the right wing starts to bare its teeth for money. Like sharks smelling blood, , but with video at 6....
  9. Can you substantiate this? Sounds like we might be getting into James Bond territory here LOL.
  10. The point, and yes it was not well made, is that you have two governments - one right and the other way, way right, and both have failed at one of the most fundamental requirements of good government, particularly in a time of disaster - the welfare of its people.
  11. Or their money, right ? It's about time somebody brought Israel's big nuclear "secret" out in the open. If Israel doesn't have nukes, why is it hounding Mordecai Vannunu to death? It is remarkable that the US and Israel keep hollering about Iranian nukes (which do not exist) when this sort of thing is sitting like a big steaming road apple in the middle of the most volatile region in the world. Jimmy Carter is the first guy with any credible inside knowledge willing to call a spade a spade. Good for him.
  12. This is a huge loss of face for Canada on the diplomatic stage. Canadian diplomats will now have to go cap in hand with briefing notes to our NATO allies (not to mention Afghanistan) and explain this whole sorry mess. It will not be lost on those allies that Bernier was not only a rookie cabniet minister, but also a rookie MP. A very bad choice by Harper for such a critical position. The more I see of Julie Couillard, the more I have to ask myself, "What is this broad's angle?". The news clip I saw of her had her emoting over national security, which is I suppose why she tried to extract $50K out of the Toronto Star (according to Rex Murphy) for her story. This is an opportunist with some sort of agenda.
  13. The Star aside, the Fraser Institute is indeed pretty far right in the Canadian political spectrum.
  14. Personally, I find this an odious practise that leaves too many loopholes open for politicians to feather their retirement nests at the expesne of good governance. Federal civil servants are not premitted to take jobs with anybody they had dealings with for a certain period of time after they leave their jobs. Much more stringent rules should apply to heads of government and cabinet ministers. There is simply too much room for hanky panky here.
  15. It is never surprising to see a Harris apologist try to use Rae as an excuse. Let's see. What was the econbomy like when Rae came into office? Hmm that was the recession of 1990 was it not? Hmmm. And what were interest rates like in those days? Anybody remember? Anybody remember the recovery that happened, oh let's see, when was that? If you are crediting Harris with any part of the recovery, then it is you who are naive. The Ontario economy then, as now, was inextricably linked to that of the US. That is where the recovery came from. As for teacher testing. Just what exactly does that prove? What other professions are subjected to this nonsense? Harris just did what a lot of bad politicians do. He picked somebody to beat up on to win popularity. If Harris were a fixer, he'd probably still be in office. Harris broke things worse than they were when he got into office.
  16. And naive right back. The Ministry that was supposed to be monitoring this and enforcing standards had been reduced tot he point where it barely existed anymore and was unable to live up to its obligations. Yeah, the two idiots running the water treatment plant were incompetent and negligent, but the Provincial watchdog that was supposed to police the system did not do its job. I forgot to mention. Tony Clements is another Harris man Harper has taken on board.
  17. It is 100% true. So if I tell the truth about what Israel does, I am inciting hatred, but if I talk about Arab terrorists I am not? You can't have it both ways. Those of you who think this is a legitimate way to enforce security might want to consider what would happen were we to be subjected to the brass ring test at our airports before boarding a plane. Israelis have the best security technology in the world at their disposal, but they chose to use this. "It is not for security," my companion said. "It is for humiliation." She was right.
  18. MCain is not going to be able to win (whatever that means) the war in Iraq by the end of his first term. Looks like we are all agreed.
  19. Ian Brodie is being replaced by Guy Giorno as Prime Minister Stephen Harper's top aide. Giorno served as chief of staff to Mike Harris. Those of you who might not be acquainted with the Harris years in Ontario will be interested to know that Giorno once declared that Mike Harris had changed politics permanently in Canada - for the good. The Harris government instituted radical budget cuts crippling the Environment Ministry so badly that people were dieing of water contamination (Walkerton) and the Health Ministry to the point where unurses left in droves - either laid off or p'd-off. A massive deficit built up in the nursing profession that is only now being recovered. Many of the exiting nurses (trained at Ontario expense) moved to the US where they got much sweeter deals and it is unlikely many will return. Finally, as an election approached, the Ontario Tories realised they hadn't a hope in hell of winning again with the good old Duffer (Harris used to be a golf pro, if you can believe it. Even John Major, a former circus performer, could do a better job of running a government) so they dumped him and put Ernie Eves in his place. Eves was the finance minister at the time and he needed to be replaced so good old Jim Flaherty popped up as Minister of Finance. Just before the Ontario election, Flaherty delivered a budget showing the books were balanced. After McGuinty got into power, he found out that the budget-cuttting Tories had run the province into a massive deficit. When McGuinty had to back off on budget promises made during the election, the Toronto Sun (Brian Mulroney, Chairman of the Board) started printing headlines calling him a liar - unparliamentary language, and apparently something we cannot even do in this forum. Many of the Ontario Tory cabinet ministers, after losing their seats in Ontario, scuttled into federal politics - mostly notably Jim Flaherty and John Baird. Will Canada be better off with the PM having Giorno has his chief of staff or should we be knuckling down for Mike Harris part d'oh?
  20. Let's all try to focus on the matter at hand, folks. The Arab League has negotiated a peace in Lebanon without a lot of crap from the US and Israel sabotaging the stakeholders. This is a big test for the Arab League. Let's see if it can hang on to its gains. It hasn't been able to do it up until now.
  21. And deflecting the subject of a thread off to some other poltical hot potato is an old spinmeister technique to disarm a threatening viewpoint.
  22. Two hurricanes. Which country will get aid first? Sad. Really sad. This is what happens when you shwing right, I guess.
  23. Bell Canada Enterprises, the guys who have been milking your parents for more than they deserve for decades has tried to put itself up for sale. They found a buyer in a lot of fat-cat pension funds (Ontario Teachers et al), but the Quebec Court has said no. You might have seen the ads Bell puts up - beavers. With dirty fingernails. Jeez. Bell is toast. And they can't even sell off the pieces. Sell. We need a telecom WestJet. Unless yer fool 'nuff to open yer bank account to the cable companies. From my cold dead hands....
  24. I guess I did. But why the gay reference?
