Toronto-Quebec City High-Speed Rail

It's ultimately a mugs game but if we absolutely must allocate our resources towards meeting an exhausted world's needs the very least we should be doing is adding all the value we possibly can to ensure we get the most out of them. Spend $90 billion on infrastructure for doing that. $900 billion if that's what it takes. Otherwise leave it in the ground, on the stump or swimming in the sea for future generations to sustain themselves with. -
Not much. I was just out there the other day. It looked pretty much the same the day before and as it did 50 years ago. There's just less fish boats now is all.
-
Not at all, you haven't provided any evidence that zero growth automatically means economic collapse. In the meantime you confirmed what I said that economic catastrophism is the response you people typically throw in the face of reality.
-
No, it's simply headed towards no growth is all. You missed a point. Maybe you think people will sprout leaves and switch to photosynthesis once human food runs out. And don't forget they'll still need water.
-
I was talking about our economy. Those other economies are quite likely doomed. You forgot to include no food in your list. That's how populations decline.
-
Stop growing the economy.

Bullshit. Older Americans have simply ignored it. It's to the Democrats shame they let themselves be punished in 1980 for a mess Republican's initiated in 1953. Especially when Democrats turned down Britain's request that America overthrow Mossadegh. If the consequences weren't so destructive, deadly and destabilizing it would almost be comical.

We have enough people. Why can't you simply go with this as a simple matter of fact and without all the judgemental moralizing? Overpopulation sucks enough, why do you have to make it worse like this?
-
No it didn't. A bunch of Albertan Karen's lost their shit is what happened. First Nations certainly weren't a consideration back then and the rest of Canada was so predominantly white your argument we were too diverse to get along sounds lame as well. No, it was really just a bunch of uppity yahoos who didn't want to share and help build a nation. Instead they insisted our Confederation gave them the right to keep everything to themselves. Now they want to bust up Confederation to get their way. The patheticness is ironic.
-
Who is threatening to leave unless the country builds them yet another pipeline - something Canada was prepared to do 50 years ago. Even the irony is pathetic.

Everyone has pretty much edited out what happened the first time America and Iran crossed paths. Younger generations are inheriting a long festering mess they have virtually no knowledge of. They never taught us a thing in Canada about residential schools and abuse when I grew up. When do kids learn about things like Operation Ajax in the US? It's a lot more like sympathy for ordinary people who were given a really raw deal by a couple of the biggest geopolitical vandals in the world and who should have known better. One almost did but caved to their baser instincts anyway. Sure...it happens all the time. Isn't this what your Framers wanted, just like your voters?

How do you pay for health care?
eyeball replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
My wife and I have thought about maybe hiring, housing and perhaps sponsoring an immigrant couple who can provide senior care and housekeep us as long as possible. They could also run the bnb as part of the deal. We're still in the same home we raised our kids in and they've all said they want to keep the place so that's kind of comforting. We're upgrading things - a new roof a few years ago, we're renewing the well and pumphouse and updating the water system. We'll stain the building this summer. The only old things left to maintain will be us hopefully. I'll probably consider MAID when it gets to the point I can't wipe my ass. -
The funding deal is the first to be announced through the federal government's $51 billion Build Communities Strong Fund and is meant to help municipalities cut development charges, or DCs, by as much as 50 per cent for the next three years. Don't developers and regulators usually do this sort of thing over hookers and coke?
-
As evidenced by the way you shit on anyone who doesn't vote for your guy. LMAO!
-
They're happier than us according to all the graphs Debbie Downers around here like waving around to prove how miserable Canadians feel. Maybe it's just you people.

Starting with the fact we chose to be terrified of not growing the economy. And don't forget we were in a desperate race with every single economy on the planet to do the same thing. Yes it is. Canada is one of the biggest exporters of recyclable paper to India, but that paper is often contaminated with plastic waste, leaving a country struggling with its own waste management and pollution problems to deal with Canada’s dirty laundry. https://www.cbc.ca/newsinteractives/features/paper-trail
