After the surrender of Germany and Japan the victors declared martial law. Thar curtailed future terrorism by the hard liners who did not want to quit. The same should have happened in Iraq and Afganistan.
-
NATO made a great mistake when entering this fray. Martial law should have gone into effect and anyone carrying arms or explosives or other ordinance of war should have been shot post haste. Now what pipeline are discussing? First I have heard of it. Please elaborate Sir Bandelot

MCGUINTY ,We have the responsibility to allow people to express themselves and to dissent in a lawful way." Your right Premier they do have the right,UNTIL they broke the law, thats when you should have stopped counting votes and represented the rights of the majority of citizens over these anarchists.

Politicians may just be jumping the gun blaming all these reported deaths on government forces. It just may be that the Tamils are deliberately putting civilians in harms way as they have been known to do. Meanwhile they should stop their anarchy in this country. Protest as is their right. But once they step over the line they should be arrested and their children put into Childrens Aid.
-
When anarchy threatens our peaceful kingdom it is the duty of our elected politicians to send in a police or military force to suppress the insurrection. When these adults bring their children into what can become a volatile situation ,bus` should be brought in with Childrens Aid and take away the kids and sort out who belongs to who later for the childrens protection. Then fix bayonets and move the anarchists off the streets.

The incompetence started long before Harris , I witnessed the never fail policy in the 60`s. and 70`s. Blaming Harris is a bugaboo catch all for the left. Teachers could have fought with their Union for educating our children .Instead they fought for their own needs first. Teaching is no longer a calling as it once was.

Will Ruby Dhalla Survive this Political Scandal?
Muddy replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think Ruby played well for the camera yesterday. Her right wing conspiracy theory has legs. I mean it was that right wing newspaper the Toronto Star leading the way in cahoots with these nannys. -
A lot of what you say is very wise Wild Bill. We have allowed anarchy to win by both the natives and Tamils. How long before Tamils want a piece of Canada to call their own? Are we able or willing to put up a resistance that would mean killing of terrorists thugs in a war scenario as is happening in the former Ceylon? I know that sounds far fetched but these Tamils have proven that our politicians do not have the guts to inforce the law.

Of course my opinion comes from my own limited education. Although I quit school in grade six these are my observations watching my children and now grandchildren tackle school. I think computers are a marvelous thing , but I have great concern for kids who do not have basic math skills , spelling, and legible hand writing. Canadian history is being lost also. I think prekindergarten is a rip off. It insures our children will get not one but two years of finger painting and sandbox. This was a make work program for teachers and a cop out for parents who should be nurturing their children. I have better math skills and spelling skills than most who have gone through the system? Why is that when I never completed grade school? Could it be,because we were not passed automatically to the next grade? Failure was not such a bad ego buster as we may think. On that subject of failure , it is part of life. It should be taught as well as success. We all face it in life. If children are passed on when they are not ready they will eventually crash into a wall. It is an injustice to pass kids through the system when they do not have the skills to tackle the next grade. Teaching should be a calling ,not a union job. I had the benafit of teachers who cared enough to teach me how to fail as well as succeed. I look back on life and am proud of my success and the failures that have educated me.

Why are we putting up with a terrorist group and giving them any credibility in the first place. They break the law with impunity and our authorities stand by wringing their hands. Hiding behind children while committing anarchy tells us who and what these people are. This is Canada and we welcome all comers from all over the world ,but do not accept them bringing their wars to our shores. If they don`t like the response of this government they can always feel free to move on.

Apparently the Tamils had their children in the front racks on the highway. What kind of parent puts their children in a potential confrontation? This borders on child abuse. If some thugs had got mixed up in this incident....well who knows! I have lost all patience with groups who think they have a right to take away my right.

Now they blocked the Gardner expressway. This anarchy is a template for future anarchy. Why our cops are not putting a few sticks to heads is a dereliction of duty. We tax ,the tax paying public have a right to go about our business unencumbered by mobs. Again I repeat . If you or I blocked the Gardner or University Avenue in a one man protest ,how long do you think we would be tolerated by the Police? We would be incarcerated in a matter of minutes. Why is right then that a mob is allowed? I have lost all sympathy for the Tamils. Their demonstrations have gone beyond protests into the realm of anarchy.

Wild Bill, thanks for the reminder about how Cadman became an independent. I had the privledge of spending the day with him here in Ontario back in the Reform days. We lost some very good candidates when the CA was formed to ethnic tribalism. These instant members disappeared immediately after the election leaving the riding association broke and the old stalwerts picking up the pieces. We Reformers were true grit fighting up hill battles, but our cause was just. My biggest mistake after the 97 election was to fall into step ,creating the CA. I now feel politically homeless. I am not a TORY. I am still a Reformer. -
J B Globe, how long do you think Mayor Miller and his lackies would allow you and I to block University off to fight a cause? Maybe five minutes before we had lumps on our noggin! These thugs were allowed to act in a manner that could and maybe did stop people from getting treatment. I wrote earlier of the inconvenience my family went through while our wee grandson was already under stress facing an operation that was delayed due to these thugs. They won no friends to their cause, just or not by acting in the manner that is just not done in a civilized society.

She is a Liberal. She must be forgiven and her past indiscretions wiped clean off her record . It is the Canadian way.

A couple of the things to address. Parachuting appointed candidates is very distasteful to me. I like the idea of a longer time period for membership to vote in the candidate selection process. I have seen many rideings where the hard working board members and a potential good candidate who has done his or her homework has the candidacy taken over by an ethnic tribal mass membership drive. After the election the new members disappear leaving the stalwarts to pick up the pieces of a wrecked association. Mean while I think Wild Bill has much merit to his argument. I am old and went through my life a a PC, then when disgusted joined Reform ,the first and last truly democratic people driven party that foolishly laid it`s policies out in book form for their enemies to discern. To my lasting regret I went along and worked at creating the CA and then Harper brought us full circle back to being PC or as is now known as the CPC. Yes Bill this old war horse will vote conservative , as the less evil as I see it. There is a Liberal core that would vote Liberal if Joseph Stalin was reincarnated. But the tribal votes of the ethnics can change quickly to whom they perceive will win. -

Nothing to do with our posters and readers. If there is so much poverty and unemployment ,why, like in my day are there no job seekers coming to my door. Could it be that the poverty industry like the homeless industry are fudging the stats to get more tax dollars? I don`t beleive any one of a semi sound mind and body can be out of work if they are seeking it. When my son was out of work and definately not seeking work, I asked him if he expected a potential employer to come knocking on his door? He got the hint and got off his arse. -
Welcome to the broaaaad cast! Is to be no longer. I like Tom Clark better anyway. He is more neutral than Newman and he can move his upper lip when he talks unlike Newman.

Your very funny! Have you noticed that I have reported that I have not had one person come into my business since this thread started looking for work. So my conclusion is that people that are looking for work are not part of the rush hour gridlock. -

As an old Reformer ,I at first blush have trouble with this policy. An MP can be good for the leader but maybe a lousey MP for the riding. Yet a good sitting MP `s constituency can be shanghied. Scenario. Say a certain minority group wants to undermine a certain party . They sign up the whole tribe and put in one of their own ,only to put a pretend candidate in who will subvert the party in question. I am no fan of Harper, but I can live with this if I hold my nose. -

Apology accepted with grace. -
The question is basically this. Do individuals or groups have the right to protest? Yes absolutely. To me ,I don`t care what groups,as long as they do it without breaking the law or committing anarchy. No group has the right to stop me from going about my business or blocking me from public institutions. If they do they are infringing upon my rights and then they are but a gang. Question for all. If you or I blocked traffic as individuals for a cause we thought was just, how long do you think the authorities would allow us to commit anarchy? I don`t like bullies as individuals or groups. Palestinians, Tamils,Jews abortion advocates or anti abortion advocates, or what ever. Their rights end when through oppression of my rights I can no longer go about my business in peace.
