Some people say it is common knowledge that the Liberals engineered a deal with the PCs in the 2000 election basically as follows: Liberals would support Joe Clark in Calgary, and PCs would support Landslide Annie in Edmonton, and other ridings as well. Well, if the above were true, could it not also be possible for arrangements to be made for the pollsters to play around with the polls? For example. if Ipsos-Reid started including the Christian Heritage party as an option in their questionnaire about which party you are voting for, I can pretty well guarantee you that the Christian Heritage party would start doing better in the polls as well, similiar to the Green party, now that Ipsos-Reid is including them as an option. Just ask yourself which of the major parties benefits most from having Green party on the list of party choices, and you may well get your answer as to what is going on. With our present first-past-the-post system the Greens will not elect anyone.

Do you remeber people talking about Martin winning 250 seats around the time of his coronation? That seems like such a long time ago. -
CBC announced about a week ago they were not going to comment on the polls during the election. Gee, I wonder why.

Are the regional statistics available? Just curious as Ipsos-Reid had a rogue poll with their previous regional polling. Even a right winger like Norm Spector called it. The national numbers they just released seem to make sense though.

Morgentaler attacks both Libs & Cons
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I am pleased Montgentaler mentioned the Liberal failings in this area as well as the Conservatives, as the Liberals are walking around with this "holier than thou" attitude towards the Conservatives on social issues. Good on Morgentaler to point out the hypocrisy. Liberals often don't walk the talk. -
