I find many of Kristof's points to be dubious at best, mere speculation and supposition with no substance to back them.Still, they must be encouraging to the pie in the sky everything is beautifull crowd. As for the other articles, well I don't subscribe to the NYT so I couldn't read them. My question to you is, why do you link to articles that are subscription only? Do you believe that everyone subscribes to the NYT?

Iran takes big steps towards equality
AngusThermopyle replied to KeyStone's topic in The Rest of the World
You can't be serious, right? They're still stoning people, both women and men, so how is that "very progressive"? Are you so enamoured with that region and its people that you see the suggestion of ceasing this barbaric practise as being progressive? How bout they quit stoning people instead of just talking about it? How bout they introduce fair trials and equal rights for women? How about they drag themselves out of the middle ages and start acting like civilized human beings with an understanding of equal rights for all? Then you could say they are progressive. -
Hold on now! I must be reading this wrong. From what you have said it appears that you believe you can perform miracles and actually raise from the dead, just as Jesus was supposed to have done. Are you seriously trying to tell us that you do both of these things? Seriously.

How low can Israeli supporters sink
AngusThermopyle replied to KeyStone's topic in The Rest of the World
Blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda, as usual. I thought you were trying to delete yourself and head for the nether regions. What happened? -
How low can Israeli supporters sink
AngusThermopyle replied to KeyStone's topic in The Rest of the World
I do believe that its already been pointed out to you that after making a statement the onus to prove such a statement is on you, not some other. Why should someone else have to prove you right/wrong if you cannot do so yourself? Your refusal to back up your statement merely confirms that you are spouting mindless drivel and as such are to be disregarded as are some others around here who employ similar tactics. -

Thats nice. I'm not very impressed either by your apparent advanced state of dementia, however you can rest assured that I wont lose any sleep over it. -

Anyone here ever hear Dancer claim he's a church going lady? Me either, I think someone is a little confused. Wow! I'm not really sure what to say about this. How do you answer such an obviously ignorant, prejudiced and racist post? Are you really this rooted in ignorance or are you merely playing to the crowd? If I'm reading you right, you're saying that the Jews are the cause of violence in the world since the time of Christ. It's hard to believe someone can say such a thing and expect to be viewed in a serious vein, or even sanely. -
How do you delete yourself totally and bail out?
AngusThermopyle replied to Oleg Bach's topic in Support and Questions
Based on your thread title I was going to suggest jumping in front of a train, but I see now that wasn't what you meant. -
What happened to the Caledonia thread?

Well I'll be danged, you're right. It looks like it has a life of its own and just wont die. -
Your Favorite Aircraft

It is amazing what that machine can do, I love the "Cobra" manouver. It provides a very graphic example of why the Russians have always been considered leaders in certain aspects of the aerospace industry. -
Thats cool, especially when you're using a one button mouse.

Oh man! Not another "this guy said"ype of post. Anyway, back to topic. We've known for quite some time now that the Earths poles change about every 100,000 years, nothing new there. The Apocalypse aspect is new though. All previous research that I've read on this subject has no mention of such catastrophies, in fact it all pretty well states that the shift would be unoticeable apart from navigation issues. It would help if just once you could tell us who these guys are.

Yup, lots of people buy Apple because of the design factors involved. They've always been a "form before function" sort of company, not entirely honest in their advertising either. Personally I prefer performance over form myself, thats why I will never own an Apple, they've consistently lagged behind PC's in the performance arena for many many years. That situation has improved lately but only because they're stuffing their boxes with PC parts now and have gotten away from Motorolla risc based chips in order to use the more common and higher performance Intel chips. I don't think they offer any boxes based on AMD chips though. Even so they still suck hind tit when compared to high performance PCs.

Well Kimmy you'd hate my computer then. It has a window so the hardware inside is visible, it also has nine cooling fans and five of them are blue LED fans. The mouse is a Lachesis Razor and the Razor symbol pulses slowly on and off in blue. The keyboard is a Saiteck with blue backlighting (for night use so you don't need a light to type), and my external hard drive has a pale blue activity indicator that cycles back and forth (just like a Cylon's visor from the old Battlestar Galactica show). All in all quite a bit of blue. It doesn't bother me in the least, in fact everyone who see's my system is quite impresed by its appearence. I like it too.

Religious Right in Canada
AngusThermopyle replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Don't forget those dammned Mimes! We should clear them off the streets too. -
Wrong wrong double and triple wrong. We are not and never have been in Afghanistan in a "peace keeping" role. Our role is purely combat, with some goodwill work thrown in as circumstances allow. I also place quotes around "peace keeping" in order to emphasize the fact that "peace keeping" is a fallacious feel good concept that does not actually exist. As BC would say, peace killing is a far more accurate and truthfull descriptor. Thanks for pointing out BigAl's next totally wrong impression for me Dancer, it saves me the trouble of doing so myself. Oh great! We have another unintentional master of irony in our midst. Should be good for a few laughs anyway.
-
Actually I spoke to him just before Christmas but not since. I imagine he's either already back in Afghanistan by now or on his way back.
-
Thats true I suppose Topaz. It also gives you plenty of opportunity to post here and say things like "I heard some guy on the radio say..."
-
Thats true, the trickle down effect hits many area's. Thats why I'm rather glad that my field is still going great guns and they are still crying out for more people, even in Ontario.
-
Actually no its not, in fact what you posted has pretty much nothing at all to do with the reason Canada is involved in Afghanistan. You really should take the time to learn why Canada is in Afghanistan and the Canadian mandate before you reference it in order to make a fallacious point.

Joseph "Snowball" Laboucan awarded new trial
AngusThermopyle replied to kimmy's topic in Local Politics in Canada
Well in this particular case involving the young girl they are all certainly guilty. Its just my personal opinion but this is the sort of case that makes me question the wisdom of abolishing the death penalty. Also the supposed wisdom of parents who allow their children to run around at such a young age and thus encounter opportunities to go to "parties". Thats just my opinion though. -
Stephen Harper's Hypocritial Oath
AngusThermopyle replied to Progressive Tory's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Being in the top 6 or 7% is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, why would anyone with an average or above IQ even think it is? As for hypocrisy, well the subject reminds me of Paul Martin and his comment that being against taxes is to be "un-Canadian". This being said while he has all his ships registered under foreign flags in order to avoid the associated taxes. In short, politics is the arena of hypocrisy. -
I didn't realize that anyone even listened to AM anymore. For me XM or Sirius is the only way to go.
