The Police will know that he's a collector because he will already be registered as a collector. This requirement has existed for many years before the registry was even thought of. For instance, in Canada you can not own a fully automatic weapon, unless you are a registered collector. I will reiterate, the registry does nothing to curb crime. It is a nice revenue generator though. I notice that no one has answered the question as to how it addresses the root causes of crime either.
-
If he's not a collector then it could be a cause for concern, his name wouldn't really matter, don't you think so? The question still stands however, what is a "reasonable amount of guns". And by whose standard will this reasonable number be determined? At present I'm not sure if there is anything on the books stating what a "reasonable" number would be, I may be wrong but I don't think I am.
-
Thats odd, when I lived in Ontario I bought used vehicles, slapped a transit sticker on them and drove them home. Some I didn't register until quite a few months later. Is it possible you're confusing transfer of ownership with registration?
-
Oh darn! I must have missed it again, I'm sorry. Can you explain to me what a "reasonable number of guns" is? While you're at it you could also explain how the registry addresses the root causes of crime, please.

Thats a very good point. What remains to be seen is whether or not he will be held to the same standard. It's a coin toss on that one, I suppose it also depends on the individual beliefs of the board members he will face. -
I guess you don't want to be helpfull, your answer doesn't answer my question at all. Once again, can you explain how the gun registry addresses the root causes of crime?

Canada's greatest foreiegn policy achievement....

I'm afraid I have to agree with you. My friend told me about what they were teaching his kids, it actually shocked me to hear it. Not far from here we have a place called "Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump". At this site there is a rock, the Natives call it Noppy and claim it is the brother of Jesus Christ. What shocked me is that they teach the kids about "Noppy" in the schools around here. I was amazed when I heard this. The next time I saw his kids I asked them about it, I really had trouble believing it. They confirmed what he'd said, it is indeed taught. His counter is quite simple, when they tell him about such garbage he simply informs them of the fact that its just a stinking pile of crap and not to put any stock in it. -
I'm sorry, I don't quite get what you're saying. Could you explain to me how the Registry addresses the root causes of crime. I think I must have missed it.
-
Hmmm, I think perhaps you should consider doing that for yourself. As for the Black Hats bursting into your home and spiriting your kids away, well, I just don't think that will happen anytime soon. Just as I've never heard of our elected officials enslaving any of us while they do the horizontal mambo with our wives.

I think the guy will see jail time. I'm just wondering how much jail time he will see. To deny that Culture will be used as a defense tactic in this case is being a little shortsighted in my opinion. I think it will actually be positioned as a major factor, who knows if this tactic will work? I don't think it will, but our justice system has certainly offered up some real gems in the past, it might just do so again. We'll just have to wait and see what happens I suppose. -

How long do you have to sit around to dream up the crap you're constantly spouting? Immigrants and crimes against women. Sorry to say it does happen, we've also had cases of that lovely practice, throwing acid in the face of women who displease males in some way. Quite a few of those actually if my memory serves me correctly. Unfortunately we do tend to make excuses about such behaviour. Personally I believe we should enforce a zero tolerance policy for such acts. Hit them with the law at its fullest and screw any lame "Cultural" defence they attempt to use. It would be better if we could just screen the b*stards out in the first place, I'm not sure if there is any way to do that though. -
If you truly don't know why, I don't think its possible for any of us to explain it to you.

Thats a highly debatable statement, one I certainly cant answer conclusively. What I do know with certainty is that we don't need crap like the white stripes assail our ear drums with. A truly horrible band, all two of them. -
The gun registry is a darling cause of the PC crowd. In effect it is useless, we really need to register the .22 or 12 guage shotguns owned by farmers and other rural folk. It's just a vast boondoggle designed to be a salve on the general publics sense of concern whilst actually doing nothing to curb gun crime. It should be scrapped now, before more good money is thrown after bad.

I don't know about today but when I spent six glorious months in Somalia there were no Somali Police. Lots of warlords and thugs, but no Police. So am I to believe that you think we'd somehow be better off without the Police? That without Police the crime rate would just somehow dissipate into thin air in a fresh Lavender smelling cloud? -
Wow! Just Wow! So you support slavery? You believe that people are objects that can be owned? I hate to break this to you, you don't "own" anyone. You have custody of your kids, not ownership. Once again, Wow!

Seldom have I heard such a load of offensive crap in my life. You think Military members don't pay tax. You think serving in desert environments when it's 115 Deg out or sailing through storms that would turn your hair white is pampered? I would suggest you walk a mile in their shoes before you say such things. -

One question, why should we have French throughout Canada? I really see no practical or pressing need for it, other than ideology and agenda driven desires. The percentage of French speakers outside Quebec is miniscule and the cost is large. Rather than teach our children French it might be a better idea to teach them one of the more commonly used languages of commerce. It appears that Asia and South America are emerging centers of commerce, why not teach kids the languages associated with these area's and give them a real world advantage for the future. We should quit the whole politically correct pandering to Quebec thing once and for all. -

Good point, one that many people tend to forget. Yeah, I do prefer tubes, but keep in mind that I'm also one of those people who prefer the sound of a good turntable with good vinyl over CD's. By good turntable I mean something like a Linn with Itok arm, also half speed mastered discs. They produce a more natural sound than CD's, which sound too harsh and frankly, unnatural. I have heard some special master editions of CD's which sounded good, they were played on a Rotel player. These discs go for $70.00 a piece though, not really in the affordable category. Most people poo poo the idea of high end audio equipment, I find they're the ones who have never actually listened to such a system. The difference is obviuos from the very first notes. Either that or they think Sony and Pioneer are high end. -

I used to be into Audiophile quality stereo. You can get some very good transistor based components but the very best are usually Hybrids, transistors and tubes. Companies like Audio Innovations and Classe Audio make some superb components. Keep in mind these things cost big bucks, for instance a 25 watt per channel Audio Innovations amp starts at around $3,000. I've been thinking about putting another system together, probably go with Rotel and Mission. It wont be cheap though, the system I let my ex take when we split up was about $10,000. I've used AMD since the K series of processors. I had to switch to Intel though, their Core series quite simply spanks the AMD parts. The machine I really loved was my Commodore Amiga, it was revolutionary for it's time and outperformed everything else on the market. It's GUI would run in 256K of memory and it would truly multitask with ease. -

I'm starting a small project over the Christmas holidays. I love building high end computers so I'm goin to turn my spare room into a little lab where I can build and benchmark them. I'll need to build a workbench and some shelving for my parts and so on. The machine I'm using now is the latest I've built, it's a sweet deal. It has a Q6600 quad processor that I've overclocked from 2.4 to 3.0 Ghz. I still have to add the liquid cooling system (I should be able to push it to at least 3.4 - 3.5 on liquid) and another 8800GTX video card. I'm also going to put in another 500gig HD and run a raid zero striped array, I want to add a 10,000 rpm Raptor as the primary high speed drive. I'm thinking about building an AMD quad core next. Sorta torn about that though since the Intel chips are outperforming the AMD parts at this time. It's not about the performance advantage really. I want to do some comparative testing between the different cpu's, just for fun, you know. -

What are you making Wild Bill? -
I sure have, and when you yell out and they just kinda look at you with a big smile and a goofy look. I used to live with a Bull Mastiff (Brutus), wait till one of those hits you with their tail or jumps up into your lap, all 160 lbs of them, and he was sort of small for a Mastiff. I love dogs, if I were inclined towards religion I would honestly state that they are gods most pure creatures. They dont know deception or schemes, they just return the love you give them, about tenfold.

Actually the worlds scientific comunities are metric. And no, we have not "always" used Metric in science, we'll let that one slide though. Give it up, we're Metric and that is'nt going to change. All you can do is keep wishing for the past days of furlongs and yards. It's a law of nature, the inefficient eventually dies out. So it is with the imperial system.
