  1. I'll believe it when I see it. Rodney is the worst premier Nova Scotia has had in some time, no comparison to Dr. John Hamm who did a nice job for the people.
  2. hehe, point taken. You've heard the old saying, as I'm sure both Dion and Harper have..."You can't polish a turd."
  3. Yeah, but the problem is, you don't want to know anything differently! You embrace Kyoto with your blinders on! You're like a child who's afraid to look under his bed....because he's afraid he might find something he won't like. sorta like the anti 911 conspiracy crowd?...WHAP! (sorry for re-beating that dead horse lol)
  4. lol, too true! I was thinking exactly that.
  5. argus "proves" that it isn't just the Left that have "far out there wackos" Way to go Mike. Way to support an extremist. Just what this board needs. 96% of what argus has written has been mean, hurtful, angry statements. Surely you understand the harm that this does to YOUR point of view??
  6. Stating "every racist is a conservative" an excellent example of bigotry. Agree? no, as people like argus have proven her correct.
  7. Too smart. US politics isn't like that. The Republicans will elect someone to focus on their religious right base and the Dems will elect someone to focus on their loony-left Rosie O'Donnell base. Niether claims the middle because they just don't get it. Reagan got it. Clinton got it. actually, both the Rethugs and the Dims give you just about the same product, both controlled by big business. The best way to control an arguement? Own both sides.
  8. Don't really know what Casey was thinking. Probably frustrated as a backbencher despite his eminent qualifications for some sort of role. Yes, the Government really does have a Special Advisor for Maple Leaf Web. I'm American why? Because I don't knee jerk oppose everything Americans do? Don't get me wrong. Iraq is a farce, and it's a damn good thing we aren't there. But I don't think that gives Canadians carte blanche to sneer at everything the US does. fair enough.
  9. this might answer the question "This has been a very emotional, trying decision to make. But I went to the Parrsboro legion on Saturday night to (provincial attorney general) Murray Scott’s lobster dinner. I think I’ve gone to 12 of these consecutively and I’ve always spoken. And I felt so uncomfortable that I said to my wife, I hope they don’t ask me to speak. On the way home, I thought to myself, I don’t want to spend the rest of my career not being able to look people in the eye or speak to my people." http://www.herald.ns.ca/Search/839632.html
  10. I agree. Good to see him stand up for his province. I think kicking him out was a mistake on the part of the Tories. He should be a lock to win based on this and they threw the baby out with the bath water.
  11. http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMaste...0&tstamp=200706 keep an eye on this storm, could be a bad one in terms of loss of life and property destruction, due to the close proximity of many villages to the waters' edge. 1st time in recorded history. Heading straight for Iran.
  12. LOL. I'm gonna use that one if you don't mind, sir.
  13. I am not defending attacks since I find logic so much more persuasive, but perhaps it is because the initial comments about gay people are almost always so wildly off base, so incredibly insulting, so narrow in view, so belittling and so angrily expressed that an angry response is pretty much pre-ordained? Dialogue in the conservative realm is based on outrage, anger and moral superiority. It is rarely positive and never inclusive. You can't expect any reaction other than what you get when an initial discussion begins with "[party X] is immoral" or "anyone who disagrees with me is a terrorist-lover". You reap what you sow. jees, that fits our good friend Argus to a tee.
  14. Still doesn't matter...granny started the chain of deadly force events...granny paid the price. I'm surprised it was only 39 shots. One bullet is a "hail" if it hits YOU. What this sounds like is zealous, eager, and ultimately tragically incompetent - and poorly supervised cops making a huge screwup that cost a woman her life. A no-knock warrant is just that, a warrant which lets you bash your way in without notice. Now smart cops will shout out "Police officer!" repeatedly as they're doing it, but it doesn't sound like that's the breed of cop we're dealing with here. So I don't blame granny for shooting at punks (and that's the way drug cops dress) bashing in her door. I agree. This whole thing comes back to this: if the police had done a proper job and done their homework, they would not have obtained the no knock warrent in the 1st place. I always thought bush cheney 2004 was a better debater than what he/she has shown in this thread. I'm still amazed that I have agreed with Argus on something
  15. what does religion have to do with NASCAR? It seems like this is just another example of "feeding the sheep(le) more hay." Fox has the broadcast rights, no? No surprise to me if they do. Just wait until they start to chant the lords' prayer before hockey games.
  16. You'll find racists at both extremes. It wasn't so long ago we saw the labour movement condemning Chinese and other immigrants for stealing all the white man's jobs. What about the left's incredibly biased support for Palestine? not taking sides here, but if you say the left has a bias in favour of the Palestinians, would you admit that the right has the same towards Isreal? (Way off topic here)
  17. How about the National Post news service? http://www.canada.com/topics/news/politics...11902fa&k=70717 ""I guess the alternative to this is to read the Tory website for honest news of how successful the Tory urban policy was."" What?? You go other places than the Conservative website to find factual information about our New Government?? Why shop anywhere else?.......
  18. Sea of hypocrisy was the unaccountable accountable government which we were promised. As for the second part- don't worry, though some of the other adjectives I used may be applied to you, racist wasn't one of them. I'm aware that you're not a racist. Not every conservative is a racist, but every racist is a conservative. For that, you'll never get me on your team. I would never, could never, take part in a political party who is supported by every bigot in the country. every racist is a conservative? Sort of using a really wide brush, no?
  19. say what you want about Rosie and what she was trying to say, but I give her credit for being one brave chick. No one on this board would ever have the guts to do what she has done. Bravo Rosie!
  20. All the evidence, ie. polling numbers, shows the first round was a waste of Conservative cash. What strange strategy, follow a first round that produced negligible results with another attempt to define Dion that threatens to backfire and paint Tories as just plain mean. very Karl Rovian, isn't it? What works down in the States might not work so well in Canada. PMSH would do well to stop calling on this man (Rove) for advice. Then again, when reality is your enemy, why not just bash the opposition? Low class approach from the Cons.
  21. A couple of bad weeks followed by a lawsuit - what to do, what to do? Oh yeah, the obvious - hop on a plane for a non-photo op and start kicking the opposition before anyone gets any funny ideas. Truly sad when a government can't speak on its own merit and resorts simply to belittling the opposition to make themselves seem good. Even with all the "scary scary scary" campaign allegations against the Liberals in 06 they still did spend a lot of time on their own achievements, job creations, reducing debts, etc etc. When will we see some of the same in Harper? The last time I got a flyer in the mail with his achievements was months before the convention.... since then I've seen nothing but Dion-bashing accounting for Harper "achievements.' Well said.
  22. We have lots of war criminals and ex - or present terrorists in this country that the government has shown little or no interest in deporting, even those being sought by authorities in their own countries for crimes against humanity. Anyone in any way associated with Nazi attrocities fifty years ago gets booted, but some Somalian warlord who cut peoples heads off last year, or an ex hutu rebel who burned whole families alive can stay and be comforted by the proection of an uncaring government. I agree.
  23. Did PMSH....hehehe, sorry, no comment here. Way too easy to find a punchline. I can only hope Steven was able to finish it all (plus his 3 pack of twinkies.) Honestly, getting Canadians to get back in shape should be a goal of ALL political parties. I can just see this guy getting his mouth around a 7 inch tall hoogie...yuck, although it's a better image than Dion spilling his yogurt on his tie or Layton dropping his walnut salad down his front.
  24. yep, this just about hits the nail on the head.
  25. Hearing what the soldiers have to say is important, but if they had problems with the mission, would they speak out or would they just remain quiet about so as not to lower "team" moral? If a soldier complained about the mission to the media, what effect do you think that would have on his/her future in the military? Dissenting opinions get punished. Just ask any Conservative party member who has openly disagreed with Mr. Harper.
