  1. wrt = with respect to/with regards to It's pretty common. I do find your method of expression to be quite hard to follow sometimes. Though your message wrt legalisation is a good one, I think you'd have greater success in your debates if you could perhaps be a little more succint and clear about what you are stating. Nothing personal, Shavluk. In effect you challenged me to start my own thread (page 18 in the Green thread). The poll was my idea since the one in your thread makes no sense whatsoever. It was a joke. It was kinda gross, but harmlessly funny.
  2. I agree, what I mean by soft is a beer with lunch between morning and afternoon classes/labs. Not downing a 2-4. duh.... Sadly I was forced to take arts classes. I choose ethics, and later took some anthropolgy. No LSD or absinthe involved.
  3. Yeah, but I'm not sure if I trust the Harper government to do that... or the previous Liberals for that matter. Therein lies the problem...
  4. I have been challenged by Shavluk to create a better poll and thread wrt Cannabis and Canadian Law. Here it is.. my first poll.
  5. So sad that you have bought the myth. WRT greenhouses - it was mostly the settlers who destroyed them before they left. Some were bought and saved but it wasn't the Gazans who wrecked those. btw - have you read the recent report by Nofer Ishai-Karen? . The link is to the English version translated from the Hebrew Haaretz.
  6. So, let's say that some dude, American, is caught in Saudi Arabia (one of the American's buddies) having gay sex. He is sentenced to death. Should he die? If your daughter did a silly thing. And ended up in a prison where she awaited the death penalty, would you not be of a different mind? Afterall - kids make mistakes. This guy here, is an extreme - but an extreme which is liable to set a precident. That is my concern. I think you missed the gist.
  7. Seriously to the last post - if one is bright and intelligent it isn't hard to cruise through the education system - especially if one is studying something they love - high. Learning something that requires passion is not diminished when some drugs are used (alcohol, cannabis - soft effects). Blaming a failing grade on the drugs one did is a copout.
  8. ***Warning*** JOKE coming*** He was an arts student....
  9. Isn't that what happened to Kazemi? Define the crime. Yes, I know this guy did really horrid things - that is not disputable. I am not arguing for or against the death penalty. I am talking about what Canada apparantly states and believes it - which is not capital punishment. That is another arguement. What happens if some one, a Canadian is caught stealing and is sentenced to his hands being cut off? Do we help him? I see this as a sloughing off of responsibility. He is Canadian. Let him rot. Far better punishment for the soul. Or heck, let human justice prevail and allow him into the prison population - child molesters don't last long there - no matter where on earth you are. There Ya go! Bring him home and feed him to the populace. That will satisfy the bloodlust of Canadians, and keep our nation soveriegn at the same time . (Note the sarcasm). *() used for the thick headed around here.
  10. Does this lay the groundwork to begin talk of reinstating the death penalty here in Canada? If this guy is a Canadian citizen, no matter how dirty and disgusting - he is our responsibility. So - bring him home and incarerate the bastard for the rest of his life. Everyone is making this far too complicated. Afterall, as of now, there is NO death penalty in Canada. As of now, the laws are the way they are. Taking down this 'fence' in this instant can lead to others being taken down, perhaps with less savoury regimes. Slippery slope.
  11. This is the only part of your post worth responding to!! It's GREAT!! I love it!! Should I change my name just for you?
  12. I agree, though I don't think of him as isolationist - he is all for trade, commerce and relations with all nations - just no alliances with any. He is a Constitutionalist - and something to be proud of. The US Constitution is a beautiful document, an amazing ideology - which has been hijacked. It's time to take it back. If only we had someone like him in Canada.
  13. Shavluk, I really don't mean to be rude, or mean. I believe in getting rid of prohibition across the board - but you are NOT helping. It would be really nice if you would stop. It's a bit of an embarrassment to those of us who do really want to get this law changed. You are the poster child for the prohibitionists. Just stop.
  14. Funny how we start off talking about riots which happen in the West, under this 'Judeo-Christian' belief system, then the conversation turns into yet another Muslim thread. (Or a diversion into someone's signature) What can one do but laugh?
  15. Wilber yours is the only response worth replying to. Thank you. I see your point and realise that co-operation between lands is beneficial at times - providing of course it is in the best interests of all parties involved. I am not sure that is the case with Israel wrt security (read military) issues. I do not see any benefit to Canadian interests in formalising any kind of security accord with the current Israeli Administration. If someone can enlighten me as to why we would need to have an official accord for simply co-operating (which we do now, and have for many decades) then I will consider changing my mind. I highly doubt there are any really good reasons to do such a thing. Co-operation and sharing amongst security and military already occurs when the need requires it - on a case by case basis- as it should. Also, what sorts of promises is our government giving to Israel under such an accord? Will it be binding in a case of war? What if the majority of Canadians do not agree with the reason for such a war? A good example of this might be Lebanon 1 and 2. What are we really signing off on? Why has this sort of national security issue not been public knowledge? Just things to think about. Keep in mind. Canadian Interests...
  16. Be happy then that Alcohol Prohibition was lifted!! Or in your world you'd be looking at jail time!! Prohibition of any the so-called 'vices' never works - but it makes some really unsavoury folks mighty rich. Hmmm.. think of it - it they DO legalize cannabis does that mean that Marc Emercy will gain the same kind of status as the Bronfmans, Kennedys and all the other nice fellas who made their fortunes running ILLEGAL booze during all those years?
  17. I guess they couldn't get away with this one. Oh well - Chaulk it up as a learning experience! Police Guilty in Jean Charles de Menezez Death I'd like to make an observation. There were so many people who had blindly accepted the 'original' report (read lies) issued about this particular tragic incident. They bought immediately that this guy was guilty and rejoiced over the 'terrorist' being shot. At that time, there were also many folks who saw this for what it was, lies over lies, deception, and police state violence. The insults and smears waged at them (as usual) were deplorable. The action of the msm over this was also deplorable and I would go so far as to say complicit! Yet it goes on ALL the time. Now, that the truth in this instance is, so to say, out for all to see, I hope that the next time this occurs people will think twice, ask questions and begin to realize what is really going on here. I also hope that this verdict helps the grieving process of his family.
  18. Okay Moxie, please enlighten us all about the ties between the Taliban and the Palestinian people... (I'll make a little bed to wait in and bring along some food and water since this will probably take a while). In the meantime - you may want to read A Clean Break - it's a policy paper drawn up by some of the neocons (yeah same ones who were behind all the WMD lies in the lead up to the Iraq war), but this one was for that wonderful man of peace : BIBI!!! (So far, it's coming true!!). (settling in now...sips on coffee)
  19. Israel, Canada sign security accord In a further step toward security cooperation between Canada and Israel, Public Security Minister Avi Dichter met Monday in Toronto with his Canadian counterpart, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Stockwell Day. Following the meeting, Dichter and Day announced that they would accelerate negotiations toward the signing of a mutual cooperation agreement on homeland security. ***** Why would we want to do this? Really?
  20. Yes, it sort of fits in why Israel doesn't want to recognize the Armenian genocide either - sometimes it's tough playing both sides of the fence eh? What a bloody mess. By the way K, did you see this: Israel, Canada sign security accord Funny - nothing mentioned in Canadian msm!!! (I might just start a new topic - as I don't want to 'hijack' yours!! ) (edited for title correction)
  21. Mr. Dyer missed further hyprocrisy: Israel Training Iraqi Kurds Link to BBC video: The hypocrisy abounds!!
  22. So, what happened to the little quiz that was in the US politics section? There wasn't any name calling or rude remarks. It was a fun little quiz - why was it removed?
