  1. Yah gotta wonder at all, why it is ok to fry ones brains and body on cigarettes, booze and prescription drugs, but marijuana , is bad. Other then the state sanctioning, cause there is no other reason. no ban on the hand guns, legalize drugs. one thing that seems to get accomplished when drugs are made illegal is the price of them gets very high, therefore making the illegal trade more lucrative then the legal trade. this is what happened during prohibition also. http://www.heroinhelper.com/curious/history/timeline.shtml 1914 The Harrison Narcotics Act is passed by Congress. Nominally a tax act, it effectively makes opium and cocaine illegal and stands as the principal drug law of the United States for 55 years. 1914 As a result of the passage of the Harrison Narcotics Act, the street price of an ounce of heroin increases from $6.50 to $100.00 (1500%) while the purity falls leading addicts to switch from "snorting" to injecting.
  2. he US, Europe and Asia are so inter-dependent that war is unthinkable. what a myth, and utter nonsense, I can't even believe you would utter that! war, will be unthinkable because of interdependance? laughable. what is guerilla warfare? You are also missing the fact that without numerous nation states, we could possibly subjected to tyranny on a large global scale, and if let's say a tyrant, takes power, in a global type government, what chance is there, that other nation states can oust a tyrant, if there are no other states?
  3. well as usual this topic goes awry....... the judge was fired, by the Pentagon, because it seems he was conducting a legitimate trial, as opposed to a show trial. The US needs a 'conviction' to justify their actions, and are determined to get one by any means. It seems there has been an issue of falsified evidence against Khadr, and it is questionable wether Khadr, actually did commit the crime he is accused of. One would think the people who are endlessing promoting justice and democracy etc., etc., should actually be concerned with justice being done. That would mean a legitimate trial. This trial or lack thereof, causes me to wonder, on the outcome of other Canadian citizens who may become incarcerated under possible false pretenses? While it may be acceptable to some fools, because this is a member of the Khadr family, the reality this type of treatment could extend other Canadians, who stand falsely accused. Never mind we have already seen that. One day, it won't be Muslims only.
  4. I will assume, quite safely, that any forms of intolerance committed by followers of Islam, including, the burning or destruction of other religions literature will now be a non topic, since it is unworthy of criticism when conducted by orthodox Jews, it must be equally as unworthy of criticism if done by a Muslim. I am good with that ! Secondly, in light of the discrimination and intolerance against deaf people by the religion of Judaism, being an acceptable act, unworthy of criticism, hence forth, any discrimination or intolerance by followers of Islam, shall be unworthy of criticism also. I am good with that also! That should cut the posts on this forum down to half of what they are, no?
  5. is there, or has there been some shortage of posts about other extremists on this forum? Are you the standard bearer on what can be posted? And, are posts on only acceptable ( as you deem so) extremists allowed, oh great standard bearer?
  6. Hey "Cry Wolf "! If someone cries wolf, they raise a false alarm about something. Cry Wolf
  7. no, say it isn't so! some jewish people acting as intolerant as some others do in the world. say it isn't so? how could that be? burning new testaments? couldn't they just throw them out, or recycle them? why go through all the symbolism associated with the burning of books, other then to send a clear message. we don't want your stinkin' new testaments! deaf people can't convert to judaism! one has just gotta love the 'tolerance' that goes hand in hand with religion, lol! but, wait, this isn't Islam? OMG!!!!!
  8. I wonder what the natives take is on rampant immigration, it was certainly very bad for them. But then there were just sooo many, and they brought guns and disease.
  9. phony concerns, duly noted and dismissed, Why? because realistic people do not condemn the group for the acts of the few. just zealots and racists. OMG, where have I heard this all before, oh yes, it was the Italians, the Italians as the racists claimed were going to bring all their crime here, etc., etc., and good white largely protestants were going to be overrun by swarthy violent people, and so it goes, and so it goes, and so it goes.
  10. btw rue have you hear the bush quotes from his recent visit to Israel, what's your interpretation on him using the "chosen people" words. Bush stands by 'chosen people' of Israel http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...89-2703,00.html Do you think he was speaking , as Einstein was? Or was he speaking in another way? Is he perpetuating a myth? Are you all outraged now? because he seems to be implying a preferential "the chosen people" and he is not Jewish, btw, so how is it he would/should have the belief of the Jews as "chosen people". As opposed to the christians as being chosen? Though I believe he is what is called a christian zionist? They believe the Jews are indeed a chosen people, God's chosen people. They need the Jews to use for their end time fulfillment. What does that all mean to you? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Zionism
  11. an update on the sale of the letter: http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2008/may...ersiesinscience don't read the article rue, it contains quotes , that you will find so outrageous. But hey you can always blame me for the way the article is written, then make outrageous accusations against me, if that's what it takes for you to "feel good"
  12. I deliberately removed the chosen from what????? Look at the original news article I quoted from, okay. You will see I quoted from from that news article, ie: the quotes that were contained in the news article. I did not remove anything from the paragraph, as you are claiming, since the paragraph, you are claiming I removed something from was not in the originating news article! You rue have not read a word I have actually said, and that my friend is your total problem, look at my comments! Stop being so outraged over nothing! here's what I said: 'well since I don't believe in any 'chosen people' nonsense either" I then said: "I was indoctrinated Roman Catholic, taught that Catholics are chosen, I don't believe that either." are you outraged for catholics also.? Had you ever actually read anything I have actually said, you would not by now, I do not believe any religion has chosen people, and that no religions people(followers , beleivers) are the chosen ones. I never singled out Judaism, or Jewish doctrine in any of my comments, nor have I ever said anything you are claiming, this is from your own imagination, conjured via your own biases. Keep you inflammatory and biased comments to yourself. My comments wrt to Israel have always been the same, the country is an occupier, and a human rights abuser, there have been many examples of racist tendencies amongst her people also, as human beings they are not immune to the follies of humanity.. It appears to be you that promotes and believes otherwise, hence your irrational outrage! Ya know what Rue, i think your all hot and bothered that Einstein heaped disdain, on religion in general and that he included Judaism in that. I think it bother you that he also stated the Jews were like everyone else, just people, just human beings, who mess things up , and are as capable of good and bad as everyone else. That's what has got your knickers in a knot IMO, don't take it out on me in such a childish manner as putting words in my mouth, and claiming I left out entire paragraphs that were NOT in the originating news article.
  13. Of course people who chose to do this , especially repeatedly discredit themselves. Cause what do they have, except smear?
  14. and there is the smear again! Aptly demonstrated.
  15. It's not "uberdefensive", smearing anything or anyone, takes away from the actual issue being discussed. When an issue that actually requires, thoughtful meaningful discussion is reduced to smear, and is then therefore avoided and the attention is moved to pointless labelling, that proves nothing and means nothing, resolves nothing. But, always brings on pointless bickering, which then keeps the viscious circle going and going. Lost on you completely isn't it?
  16. how about you read the piece as it actually cites a number of smears, two from within the past two weeks read the article and keep up. This recent smear from Jason Kenney was reported on just a few days ago, not months. Sucker? From a poster is not even up to date on the most recent news , nor has bothered to read this article in it's entiretly. But hey there it is Sucker right away with the name calling. Thanks for helping to make the point!
  17. Smear tactics in Ottawa it's from today! May 15, 2008 04:30 AM come again?
  18. Now I understand why the self-acclaimed conservatives resort to this. Just taking orders? Compeled to imitate, for lack of originilaty? http://www.thestar.com/comment/article/425516 quick, attack the newspaper as 'leftwing"!!! or left, the left, whatever other nonsense one can conjure. that's a common one! be critical of western government policies and you are a "hater of the west, a self-hating westerner". I can't help but wonder what the hell that actually means? As if our policies are all so perfect and uncontroversial, it is laughable, but rather then actually speak on them or face reality, we get a common smear! Another one, criticize Israel's human rights record. Anti-semite or anti-semetic, actually some posters use that one rather heavily. Again rather then face documented facts, reduce yourself to a name caller. Another one cited in this article "terrorist supporter" these accusations are all so chimerical, that no one could possibly take them seriously, except for the people who actually stoop to using them. Oh yeah, myself, accused of being a muslim, lol!!! That's another one. Are you a muslim, are you sitting in a mosque somewhere?? Just being accused of being muslim, in such a bigotted society, where every muslim is a 'terrorist", is an attempt at smear. So much for discussion eh? Those people should ask themselves, how low they are willing to go , to prevent themselves from using their thinking skills, instead of their silencing, attacking and smearing skills. How low will you go? How low will you go? Lower now? Lower? lower?
  19. And you know exactly what I think right???? I am quoting from the letter up for auction written in Einsteins own words, if he is contradictory or conflicted it's not my problem is it? All quotes from the letter, and based on these, it appears Einstein has no belief in "chosen people" of any kind, which is a belief I share, and little for religion either. So AW, based on this letter, he certainly does seem to share common thoughts with myself. oh and this one, is another thought I can wholeheartedly agree with!
  20. actually I have never said anything like that, perhaps you are reading jbg's posts and assuming they or mine, or even some of your own. BTW: don't make it so personal, it's not, and IMO, you make huge assumptions all on your own, based on your own thinking. Not on mine.
  21. actually I admire a great many jews, but not because they are jewish, which is irrelevant, I just love who they are! Two of my huge favourites are Howard Zinn and Steve Lendman. Lov'em both. YOu should really get a life, stop obsessing over me.
  22. I was indoctrinated Roman Catholic, taught that Catholics are chosen, I don't believe that either. Einstein didn't have much use for religion, therefore, no religion, no chosen people either. here's another quote from his letter "For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions," he said.
  23. I liked her, she was funny, in this weird sort of grandma way. and no nonsense at all. what you say guyser, penis and vagina, oh me , oh my, how very correct.
  24. well since I don't believe in any 'chosen people' nonsense either, I'm pleased to see great minds think alike. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080513/wl_uk...ncejewseinstein The German-language letter is being sold Thursday by Bloomsbury Auctions in Mayfair after being in a private collection for more than 50 years, said the auction house's managing director Rupert Powell. any bidders here?
