  1. hisself, since you've lost me completely?? What does human rights , or the geneva conventions have to with what you were speaking of? BTW: our resources are already "coveted" by somebody with a big army and a convincing media presence. See: FTA, NAFTA I don't think Russia is having any energy issues at this time. China different story.
  2. confessing to not knowing exactly what Obama's stance is on this scenario..... nor really being all that interested..... are we speaking diplomacy versus warfare? ah, maybe you could clarify, with thanks in advance. and the stance of "no negotiating with terrorists" is such nonsense anyway. if you wouldn't mind BC chick?
  3. Bill C-51 is for the inner wussie , I guess you could say???
  4. it's not just big money, of course that helps. It is influenced by our compliance with US/Israeli goals in the ME. Since the US and Israel have a goal of running as much of the middle east (controling the oil and the access of the oil, the water and of course land grabbing )as possible, for their own gain, mutual and otherwise. And Canada is the partner to this ...... Israel and the US's "enemy" must now be our enemy. The people of Canada must be brought on board, to believe such utter drivel, so the agenda can go forward.
  5. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24506486/ well, better late then never. interesting percentage. Particularily noted for the fact that some deny their influence. politicized christians, being used and abused for political reasons? well only if you let yourselves be. It appears some leaders are realizing it's an issue.
  6. hmm it;s not entirely on the former parkland, and btw was the old park a public park??? with free access to all? which will now not be the case. I am of the opinion that anyone that thinks this park will be of any benefit to Iraqi kids, has taken leave of their senses. It is a for profit park, as I pointed out it is not charity, therefore, if the poor kids have no money, they will have no fun. Just like disney world! So don't pitch it as beneficial to poor Iraqi kids, it is not , nor is it intended to be. It is a money making venture (hopefully ) for american equity firms. You have repeatedly stated this will be nice for Iraqi childrent to have fun, as a plus, but what is more accurate, is it will be nice if their is any possibility that any Iraqi children will actually have the money, the means or the capacity to go. The comparisons to Disney land are foolish, is the US under occupation?
  7. now that's an interesting thought.
  8. the 3 billion pounds spent has to be justified somehow. Or the taxpayers whose money was thrown down the drain this entire time, will get up in arms. The cameras have been around long enough and there are enough of them that their value, if any, would have already been obvious, that is clearly not the case. this recent news matches with a governmet report His comments echo a government report last October which said most CCTV footage is not of high enough quality to help police identify offenders, with many cameras focused on enforcing bus lanes as well as stopping crime. The report said anecdotal evidence suggests more than 80 per cent of CCTV images supplied to the police are not up to scratch. now one would wonder what would the sense be in setting up an image tracker when 80 percent of the images are useless? either way, the cameras do nothing to prevent crime and the images caught are almost all useless.
  9. why did the "catch them"? more nonsense. this is what the cops themselves are saying, more then 3 billion pounds wasted. Useful in 3 percent of the crimes, that translates to USELESS 97 percent of the time! what a return! It appears you fall into the category "For all the people who have actually deluded themselves into thinking cameras' on every street corner will keep anyone safe?"
  10. Yet you think it is perfectly ok, for you to speak for them, right? Just like the American/British government did, speak for them, decide for them, kill them, what the heck eh? I have common sense, and that common sense tells me if I had to chose between clean water necessary for survival, and disease prevention and health, I would chose clean water. Most people would chose the NECESSITIES of life for their kids. Not a theme park! But apparently you would forgo clean water, to stand on the outside of a theme park you wouldn't be able to afford to get into? whatever floats your boat?
  11. excuse me this theme park is being built while Iraq is under foreign occupation and has nothing to do with immigrants banding together to build a mosque. The comparison is absurd. Have you asked yourself, who's property this is? Likely not. Does it belong to Iraqi's who are now dead or displaced? If it does, is any effort being made to identify who's property it is? Or Is it being pilfered by the occupying force, to allow for more wartime profiteering? Like so much of Iraq's assets. what is equally absurd is that you think the kids will benefit from the park, it is a for profit park, it is not charity. The only thing the kids are getting is free skateboards. The abuse towards posters , admonishing them for allegedly not wanting Iraqi kids to have fun, is a total and shameful use of a strawman. Used to make people feel bad or guilty for having the opinion they do. I think the Iraqi kids are entitled to all the fun they can get, how about getting their schools rebuilt, so they can have fun with their friends, how about some clean water, so they do not have to live in filth, how about sewage systems, can you bring back their dead family members, I bet that would make a great many of them happy, how about some arms and legs for the limbs many of them have lost. This park has nothing to do with making Iraqi kids lives better, unless one is being wilfully blind.
  12. For all the people who have actually deluded themselves into thinking cameras' on every street corner will keep anyone safe? http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2008/s2237473.htm http://news.scotsman.com/latestnews/Britai...CTV-.4055450.jp multi-billions of pounds spent 1 camera for every 13 Brits useful in 3 percent of crimes defintely not money well spent
  13. huge difference between a few immigrants banding together and building a mosque, as compared to foreign occupation force( Iraq invaded and occupied by a country, that holds all the cards in Iraq!!!!!) why people insist on apples and oranges comparison is beyond me? It reeks of America promoting it's way of life on people of another country, because while the US is occupying Iraq against the will of vast swathes of the population, that is exactly how it appears. here is a link to some information on what the kids in Iraq have to put up with on a day to day basis in their occupied nation. http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Top_News/2008...q_not_met/4094/ They don't need a park , nor are they going to benefit from this park. In a country under a brutal occupation, where only 40 percent of kids have access to safe drinking water, this is the furthest thing on their or their parents minds. how absurd!
  14. I see , so the solution is to oppress and shutdown local manufacturing and individuals, so that people are forced to buy more crap from china that health canada will do ZERO about. Great solution.
  15. God, I was sick, dizzy, nauseated, horrid.!! It had to have been the chicken sandwich. I even returned the salad, didn't touch it,as it stunk to high heaven. But hey they are still in business and no I do not buy thier food at all. But, I had the most delicious jam,(cherry rum) from a local farmer, who BTW stakes their entire livelihood, on the quality of their product. Unlike KFC.
  16. I'll totally agree with your earlier contention that the Liberals and Conservatives are the same. I vote for anyone but them in hopes neither of them will form a majority government. Off topic , but has anyone noticed, allegedly we have 3 "left of centre" parties in Canada, and the conservatives, still can't win? Just an observation. Anyway C-51, will do nothing to address the problem of contaminated prescription drugs, or tainted meat, IMO, what it seems to be is a way to limit people from making their own choices, and giving a free hand to large multinational companies, to continue on their merry way of using ethelyne glycol in cough syrup, coating pills with paint, tainted heparin. Since most of this garbage is manufactured in China. Can you really imagine Health Canada doing anything about that? I can't. This is clearly aimed at smaller manufacturers, especially those making herbal formulations, like I said , it looks as if , it is possible even if you gather your own herbs and make your own teas, tinctures whatever, an individual could be subjected to arrest, confiscation, incarceration, etc. And yes the "conservatives" were quick to rail on the nanny state when it was the liberals, but now the biggest ninnying nanny of them all is quiet, on the interference of even bigger state government. Upon reading C51 I think local farmers, who sell products at markets , may be subjected to arrest, reading the part about "made only in sanitary conditions", ya know like mass manufactured meds , or KFC where I got food poisoning from myself. But, I have bought lovely home made jams, from the farmers and have never had an issue. 4. No person shall sell or import for sale a food that (e) was manufactured, processed, prepared, preserved, packaged, stored or conveyed under unsanitary conditions. which means the local peach or cherry person who makes pies or jams could get in big trouble, if their Kitchen is deemed "Unsanitary", and who is the decider , how is the standard set?? I don't want to eat toxic food, but like I said, given that I got food poisoning at a local KFC,which is still open for business, and eaten plenty of market jams and baked goods???? This is picking on the little guy to the benefit of the big guy. Cause it's always easier to pick on the little guy. Like the case I mentioned previously
  17. soccerdad: having actually read through chunks of Bill C51, it is disgusting , and reeks of caving to big pharma, some of the language in it looks as if it could be aimed at people who even gather their own herbs and use them on themselves. the powers granted to confiscate are frightening. (a) in relation to a therapeutic product —manufacturing, collecting, processing, pre- serving, labelling, packaging, importing for sale, distributing, wholesaling or testing, I also read up on this "In 2003 Health Canada launched an attack on a group of mentally ill patients and the company who supported them naturally. They seized shipments of a safe natural therapy required by the patients and stormed the support center with 17 armed officers and agents. The company (Truehope) reported that they lost contact with more than 300 of their Canadian participants. The Canadian Mental Health Association told of suicides as a result of government action. " this was frightful, frightful indeed. This removes peoples right to chose an alternative treatment, and limits those treatments also. It indicates to my the Haper regime, is bending to big pharma and is in essence snuffing out the competition, like the "heavy' doing the dirty work for the crime bosses. It is amazing to note the responses from the "conservatives", but not surprising, as they cry for ever bigger nanny governments to keep them safe, and allow themselves, nay beg, to have their own choices restricted to those that serve the interests of big big business, and not them.
  18. or jobs for their parents to actually pay for it , cause the theme park is not free.
  19. except the starvation and water issues have not been tamed, nor has the exodus of Iraqi refugees.
  20. I can't listen , your not talking, your typing. If I missed it, I do apologize, but, I did not see it.
  21. never mind food, water, shelter, security , education, give'm disney world! a day without their lives being at risk. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/worl...icle3802051.ece just what a starving Iraqi kid needs , a free skateboard from American, wow! Do you think they can skateboard safely, helmets and knee pads included! how about electricity and clean water? how about alive moms and dads? oh and the cost? 500 million dollars! well then it must be the right thing to do! I like these comments on site "Are you bored while your family is either dead, fighting or bearly surviving? no prob, the same people that destroyed your country and culture are now bringing you more shock and awe with the disney indoctrination park!" This is insulting, abusive, corrupt and shameless, a total inversion of values fernando, barcelona, This is probably the most ridiculous thing I've read about in a while. Never mind the hundreds of thousands of civilian casualties in the Iraq war or the blatant disregard for international law by our military, let's just build an amusement park and make money off of whoever we haven't killed yet! Johnny, New York, United States think of the promotion for this park. forget your dead parents, no food in your stomache, can't get any clean water, forget your troubles at our entertainment park. As long as you have money!
  22. ya know why I ignore you by and large, but I am making an exception here. because you like to use innuendo, and aspersions, but nothing else, nothing. I will now go back to ignoring you, have a good day.
  23. does it say you ascribe to group think? there are plenty of religious followers that all think the same thing. which means what? does that mean it is right, because it is "group think" well that's not necessarily true, is it. when I read your comparison of Howard Zinn = Jane Fonda????????????
  24. certainly not myself. as for me not answering questions, when have you answered mine? Was it you and honestly I can't remember, that said it was morally justified to nuke the japanese, and I said to you think the Japanese thought it was? I didn't see an answer to that? BC uses the analogy of someone going into a market and a subsequent explosion, and they would do this on the basis of perceiving it as moral, did the persons on the receiving end think it was moral? This why I have an issue with using the concept of morality to justify war, because as is obvious , just following this discusson, what is moral is very subjective. I believe at some point I asked you why do you think it was moraly justified, is it because you think it is? ( your perception) Like the bomber in the market place, who thinks thier attack is morally justified? There in lies but one issue in using morality to justify war. Each side doesn't think the other side is morally justified in their action. would you agree? Bonam, (by the way I do understand your very well written post) grasps at least that the ww2 was not fought for moral reasons, but something good came out of it, in that lives were saved. I agree that Hitler was genocidal so on one hand it was good, on the other hand the overkill on the part of the allies, went far beyond what was necessary, particularily in the use of 2 nuclear bombs. There again is where morality is problematic. That said, the higher moral ground in warfare is shaky at best, and is best used to get people on side. In fact, this is exactly what Hitler did in ww2, he used morality, to portray the attacks on many peoples,as justifiable, and people went along, he did this by portraying them as 'less then'or inhuman or a threat, etc., So when I see posters saying it is moral to do the right thing, their own call for "the right thing" is morally subjective, since the right thing for them is not the right thing for others. So since this is a difficult topic , I hope I have clarified my own thoughts or positions. this should answer your question here because what is moral and justifiable, is completely subjective.
  25. if it was only just that one guy....................
