  1. I simply don't like the words "radical" or fanatical, they sound violent or something. Depends what you mean by them. Speaking truth to power is important, but yes can be risky. Saying facts that offend people can get you fired today, I agree with that. Gandhi and MLK took their share on the chin, and paid with their lives from the mob. My heroes.
  2. What rule? The monarchy's powers have been stripped from them. Parliament determines all laws. We have responsible government. The monarch is a rubber stamp. The monarch is head of state, not head of government.
  3. That's just not factually correct. They are separate and equal legal entities and titles. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_realm
  4. No you don't. Assuming you served, your service has ended as you've stated yourself if i recall, so you have no professional authority anymore. I don't find it very appropriate to pretend you still do in order to score points on a message board.
  5. Sure, a protection alliance against a foreign power. Any different than the American colonies? Why would any of the provinces want to weaken their positions? Why would Quebec even, so long as they have enough of the self-determination they desire. The World Wars build a nation. Canadian Citizenship Act, 1946
  6. I might even be a republican. But personally i'm perfectly happy with the current "responsible government" and a 1000 years of parliamentary evolution resulting in the monarch taking its orders from the people in practice, not the other way around. Monarchs are just people who assumed power long ago like any dictator does, and passed that power to their offspring, like Kim Jung-il. I can live with a censored head of state version for pomp and circumstance, but I see no reason why they should have any real power whatsoever over the people. This isn't the year 1300 anymore. Its actually the Quebecois and indigenous folks, and some immigrant folks for various reasons, that have real beefs with the monarchy. I have no major beefs. But it might take the abolishment of the Crown to unite all these groups since they still see themselves as a conquered people of the British Empire. Canada has been doing a mostly bloodless American Revolution thing, just much more slowly over hundreds of years instead of a violent "pull off the band-aid" thing like the Americans did. Evolution rather than revolution.
  7. I'm not making any formal accusations, i'm just asking questions. My questions can only be answered with evidence. I try not to believe anything without evidence, unless someone/something has a proven record of trust with me where I can believe their word on faith. I'm not a fanatic or a radical. Only truth, evidence, and a persevering will can fight lies.
  8. Oh that's right, you swear allegiance to the British Crown and not the Canadian Crown. We've been through this exercise before.
  9. You have no authority to assume anything about me.
  10. I never accused you of breaking a law. You work to undermine the state and want the country to break up. You're anti confederation. You and the Quebec separatists have the same agenda, you're just on the British side. Resistence to the Treaty of Paris, 1763, and to the British North America Act, 1867, the King's laws. From what you said you're a British nationalist. You're either loyal to the King of Canada and his realm or you're not.
  11. I could prove it in court based on your many statements here. That is the past. I wouldn't be found innocent in court if I slapped my wife just because I used to hug her everyday before that. You speak just like a Russian or Chinese government agent trying to sow discord. We have no proof you were a soldier, your arguments stand on their own merits and claims of service don't exonerate you from them.
  12. A celebration day for St John the Baptist is "Quebec nationalist"? ? Yeah it really sounds like such an "anti-Confederation" song ? You're the biggest lying traitor on this website. You're such a disgrace to this country. Do people here still believe you were marching in the convoy protests? LOL.
  13. Its fine to criticize some things our governments do, or even aspects of our society and culture, you can still be a patriot. I don't think its ok to sh!t on the entire project and want it destroyed and call yourself a patriot, you're a traitor. Our leftwing governments and other left-leaning folks since the 1960's have done a lot to erode this country as a nation. In some ways they've helped, like repatriating our constitution. But these days there's not very much left that unites us as a country. The national anthem is one of the few things left. It doesn't belong to any one of us, it belongs to all of us. The poppy also unites us culturally. I don't think its up to a singer hired at a sports event to represent Canada and sing our anthem to analyze the lyrics, pick and choose which ones they like and don't like, and change the ones they don't. That's a personal political act. If you want to sing it on your own and post it to Youtube with your own lyrics, as an artist I suppose that's your right, sort of like Jimi Hendricks with his own interpretation during a concert. These types of political acts don't unite us, they divide. If you want the lyrics changed contact your MP or make the argument on your twitter page and do it democratically, or else refuse to sing it on Canada's behalf at a sporting event. It should be an honour, not an opportunity to make a progressive political act of defiance. I wouldn't go so far as to call the singer "a traitor", just lacking in respect.
  14. The Trudeau government is the leftwing version of the Trump admin: Run by narcissistic leaders, totally unethical, don't care about democracy, in bed with foreign enemy regimes who help them try to win elections and don't give a crap about election interference if it helps their own interests.
  15. When has this government cared about ethics? The elected officials aren't doing their jobs, following their oaths or the law. So yeah they need others to keep them in check. CSIS comes to the government with warnings that an MP candidate is in bed with China and they don't care. The Liberals don't care about our democracy, they just want to increase their power. The ethics commissioner just came out and said there's been so many ethics violations with members of this government that he recommends all senior Liberals take mandatory ethics training. https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/federal-ethics-commissioner-finds-another-liberal-broke-ethics-laws-calls-for-mandatory-training-for-all-mps
  16. As long as the Chinese government is helping him win elections, why would Trudeau care? He can shoot down suspected spy balloons and ban tiktok because that doesn't hurt his interests very much, in fact it gets him support at home for appearing "tough on China". All he cares about is winning and his own power.
  17. The Chinese see them as easier targets, so they target them. This is why CSIS says the CCP supported the Liberals to win over the CCP the last 2 elections. It is also possible I suppose that, per above, they share some sympathies with their regime in certain ways. I think its maybe more about the left having a more globalist/open-to- foreigners worldview. I find left politicians often paralyzed by their own rhetoric. They're too politically correct and tolerant to take certain necessary actions that politically correct types might see as intolerant.
  18. A quick google search will reveal some fascinating rabbit holes.
  19. Yeah he's a nutter. You'd have to be dumb or nuts to say something like this.
  20. Meh, I think the media runs with these issues for clicks & ratings. @Michael Hardner has dubbed this "angertainment" (trademark pending).
  21. There's a video in this cbc article where a reporter asks Trudeau twice if he can confirm if he was informed by CSIS of the allegations. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-denies-csis-rescind-nomination-1.6761942 He first responds by inferring the allegations are somehow connected to anti-Chinese racism, and on both questions he dodges and doesn't answer the question. The fact that he dodges & doesn't deny or confirm it is an admission that he was indeed warned by CSIS. He says he also continues to support the MP and denies he is disloyal to Canada in any way.
  22. Right, and they wouldn't want to do it anyways. You have to give them a certain amount of self-determination. Indigenous bands also aren't a homogenous group, they have their own customs, cultures, and ways of governance etc. We're all stuck together and we have to make our work for everyone.
  23. These people are connected to the land they live on. You can't just move them all to another piece of land and call it a day. It's not going to work.
  24. If the state is going to allow abortions, healthcare practitioners should not be performing abortions when the child is potentially viable outside the womb. Its rare that they do. An exception would be the mother's life being in jeopardy. In that case, the child should have a right to life no matter what. Remove the baby and healthcare practitioners should do everything they can to keep it alive, then it can be given up for adoption. No viable fetus inside or outside the womb should be killed by a healthcare practitioner. That is absolutely murder.
  25. CSIS-suspected Chinese foreign agents have been accusing people of racism for their accusations. Also, Trudeau himself and now this gem have been trying to label people bringing up foreign interference issues as using "Trump-style tactics" in order to shut people down. So shameful: https://globalnews.ca/news/9512768/justin-trudeau-china-election-interference-public-inquiry/
