More Proof Canada in Danger from Islamic Terrorism!
Moonlight Graham replied to wulf42's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I certainly don't think Canada is immune from terrorism. The arrest & breakup of the Toronto terror cell plotters is proof of that. However, that man who travelled to Canada didn't seem to target Canada in way from what i read. But we are certainly a target, especially since ramping up our forces in Afghanistan -
School Kids Taught To Praise Obama

man that 1st song is just horrible. Not very catchy at all. 2nd one is much better, though i sense some plagarism there. -
Is opposing Obama racist?
Moonlight Graham replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No it's not. However, for those people protesting the health care reforms etc. while holding up blatantly racist signs...well those people are racist. -
I didn't see the US getting involved in a civil war over women's rights. Does that mean that women's rights issues were not as legitimate? C'mon that's an absurd statement.

Why should he face trial in the U.S.? Even if he is a terrorist and a traitor, he should still face trail in this country under our laws. Criminals should be punished, but in a fair and humane way as is the rule of law both in the U.S. and Canada. The U.S. has proven that what happens in Gitmo is far from humane or under the rule of law. That's why it's being closed down. I don't have much faith that he will be treated fairly in a Gitmo trial. The 40% of Canadians polled who think he will be treated fairly in a Gitmo trial are either dim or delusional. Unfortunately, Khadr is a Canadian and is our problem.

Mass Man, and the Revolt of the Undermen
Moonlight Graham replied to lictor616's topic in Political Philosophy
oooh there's that scary word: socialism! Exactly what kind of "socialist" do you think Obama is? What is it exactly about Obama's policies that has taken the US away from being a "free democracy"? -
Yup, you're the type of person who falls under the "typical Palin supporter" label. You know, the type of person who can't spell.

How Canadians view our military
Moonlight Graham replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The blame only goes to Bush because this mission was doomed to failure from the very beginning. All participating nations are also equal to blame. The philosophy behind the mission is a joke. You can't win a military victory in Afghanistan. Well you could, but you'd need about 1 million or more troops on the ground there. Since that would need the draft, it's quite an unlikely scenario...and even then it's no guarantee. Given the history of those foreign forces who have tried and FAILED to conquer Afghanistan going back to Alexander the Great, NATO thinking they can solve the Afghanistan problem the way they have been doing it is completely moronic. I don't have a problem with the Canadian military going into hot zones and shooting their guns. However, this must be done in only the most dire of circumstances. Afghanistan and Iraq doesn't fall into this category. -

Hmm, i think you're on to something! Don't forget not educating the sons too, we'll need them too of course . Basically, we need to change the sex-ed they learn in school. make them watch pornos instead. And no more safe sex. WE NEED TO BAN CONDOMS AND BIRTH CONTROL!! We need the good ol' days back when everyone had 5-10 siblings. -
Yup, sadly. Change we can believe in yippee! Now lets kill some brown people...

George Washington on torture
Moonlight Graham replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ya, nobody buys Spider-Man and Superman comics anymore Yes, character flaws do make for more interesting characters. Spider-Man (nerdy teenager), Iron Man (an alcoholic), and basically any character created by Stan Lee in the 60's had some kind of flaws to appear more human and easier to relate to. But at the end of the day most from the pre-70's era were still always-do-rights & learned from their lessons. Darker characters like Wolverine, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Swamp Thing only came because comic readers started to become adults (same happened to pro-wrestling). I grew up on Luke Skywalker, He-Man, and Hulk Hogan as my fictional heroes, and all were squeeky clean. Few (good) parents throw their 7 year-olds a Punisher mag or let them watch 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. -
You meant Moonbox. 2 different people. Confusing? Yes. But i was here 1st haha. Anyways, screw the polls. If towards the end on an election campaign polls show the Cons near or at a majority, i think you'd see a shot of movement towards the Liberals in order to prevent a CPC majority. I'd think NDP & Green supporters might jump to Liberal if that was the case, and some on-the-fence voters who would have voted CPC otherwise. It sure would be a darn fun experiment though to see what the CPC would do with a majority. WHO'S UP FOR ANOTHER WAR??!? Anyone wanna sign-up with me to shoot at Ruskies in the arctic?

Bush sure was a tough & tenacious S.O.B. i'll give him that. At least until the end of his 2nd term when he finally realized how much people hated him & how much screwed up, he started to show some bruises. -

I don't think Obama played his race up much in the campaign. There was the thing early on during the primaries w/ Rev. Wright, and his speech about race afterwards, but on whole that hurt him. Obama talked about "change", which was maybe 70% anti-Bush/anti-neocon and anti-status quo and 30% the race thing I think the media and Obama supporters made a much much bigger deal about Obama's race than Obama himself did. -

You want to solve this problem? Give Canadians massive tax breaks for having kids, especially with someone with 3+ kids. Do this instead of bringing in the kind of immigrants that have little education or transferable education/skills who end up sucking the system and yet haven't spent their life (or their parents spent their lives either) paying into the system. Why not give more incentives to Canadians to have more kids instead of just bringing in more immigrants? i don't understand it. it doesn't make economic or social sense. -

Yes it is. I've worked at a daycare as an assistant. They are run by Early Childhood EDUCATORS. And much of what you teach young children isn't ABC's and 1-2-3's either. Though i think it's always better for the child to be with a parent, at least until pre-school. -
Jimmy Carter - Shoots Dems in the Foot
Moonlight Graham replied to jbg's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Carter is a fool in this case. "An overwhelming portion..." ?? Impossible to say, that's just going to assumptions. Clearly, from some signs you see held by racist idiots, there is a portion of the right-wing protestors. But i think that probably a large # of them sincerely are against the health care proposal + the bailouts etc. I certainly think that a good # of those "sincere" protesters though do have some racial under-currents running through their brains which is only adding fuel to their rage. But to blame almost all on "race" is stupid. But its there no doubt. -

Really? So where would you draw the line if you were Bush in terms of treatment of prisoners? You think Abu Ghraib was ok? -
George Washington on torture
Moonlight Graham replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
That's a bit off. If the British or any other country were fighting a war against the U.S. and were attacking on U.S. soil, they wouldn't be targeting innocent civilians , but they would likely be hitting non-military targets run by civilians, and many other targets they attacked there also would likely be civilian casualties. Washington i'm sure did some bad stuff during his time on the battlefield, as everyone did back then. But towards the end of the American Revolution, maybe he changed his tune a bit. Maybe it was just because it was the British, who knows. But the point of his quote is no less powerful. Why are some people more concerned with revenge in the "war on terror" than taking the high road & sticking to basic moral principles (oh, and international law)? Were all the messages/lessons about "being the good guy no matter what" that i learned over and over again in the comic books, movies, cartoons, and books i grew up reading/watching just a pile of rubbish to seemingly 50% of the population? -
What do you think? Is a bottle of wine enough?

That's what i say too. Get a new bike or have it repaired if it was at all damaged. Glad your son is ok. Was she charged with a ticket by the police officer? "Reckless driving" or "failure to yield to bicycle" or whatnot. -
I take what i say back. I'm not going to join in to any intelligent race debate with you. Surprisingly, you've been on your best behaviour in this thread and have stuck to mostly civil debate. However, this thread can't exist in a bubble. Your other threads i've read prove to me clearly that you dislike black people. Maybe there are other races you've shown dislike for, but i haven't read all your posts. As much as you are now trying, you aren't fooling anyone. You are a raging racist. Deal with it. You are obsessed with race, to the point where you are trying here to create logical arguments to support your own twisted ideology. Cut through all this wannabe-intellectual b.s. and what should be asked is what is the endgame to all these debates you have in this thread? What are you trying to accomplish? Even if you can prove that, say, black Africans are less intelligent in general than Caucasians, what does this accomplish? It remains a generalization. I know smart white people and moron white people, same goes for blacks, asians etc.. People should be judged on their individual merit, not pre-judged based on their race, sex, religion, sexual orientation etc. BTW, in other posts you've also revealed yourself to be a homophobe. So i'm not going to waste my time anymore with these discussions. Everyone else shouldn't bother either, save your time for debating more relevant issues.
-
It's clear to me that you sincerely want an intellectual discussion on race. I'll give it a shot. I skimmed through the film you linked in this thread. Has some good points, but also weak ones, like definition of racism. My definition of racism is: discriminating against someone based on their race. That's pretty close to the official defs found on the web, but simplified. You said: "...the normative idea that they ought to be able to go their own way". What do you mean by "go their own way"? As in races should be able to remain segregated from each other and/or keep to their own culture/geography?

American weapons in Hands of Taliban
Moonlight Graham replied to a topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I do remember a story not long ago of large caches of U.S. weapons disappearing or going unaccounted for in Afghanistan. Ok found the article, from Feb 2009: http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/...pons/index.html I'm sure many of those weapons were stolen and/or sold, and by both sides of the conflict. As for getting weapons through our "allies", Pakistan's ISI has been supporting the Taliban which is no secret. Everything from money, weapons, planning guidance etc.
