It’s going on 2 years and we still aren’t close to producing a covid vaccine let alone manufacturing it.  It’s estimated that it’ll be sometime in 2022 before we have our own vaccine ready to START the 3 phase trials.  Then, after 3-6 months of trials, we’ll be ready to start manufacturing.  By then, the world will be flooded with vaccine supply and most countries including ours will be well past herd immunity.  It’s so pathetic it’s embarrassing.

Yes i forgot we are still pointing fingers, it was the conservatives that sold off all our vaccine making equipment... and yet Justin and his merry gang have been in power for 5 years now, if the liberals were concerned about the lack of our production capabilities, they could have changed all of that... would have made a much better story than pointing a finger....But we still do produce vaccines here in Canada today right....just not covid ones...

Canada failed...big time...regardless of ruling party or PM.  Canada has been an R&D deadbeat for decades, and now when it was needed most, could not deliver a covid vaccine for Canadians.

They haven't started doing that. But will have to if the ICU numbers get above 1,000 IIRC. 

The big issue is that Covid-19 patients stay in the ICU a long time. Especially younger ones. So they're piling up. 

One of the problems is that our ICU capacity is the same as it was a year ago.  People also have lockdown fatigue.

It wasn't during the pandemic. It was in 2019, before the pandemic and it was only 0.2%. It was due to a growth in the economy. 

I suspect recent increases to the Carbon Tax will have a different effect.

The U.S. is swimming in vaccine ....will give expiring AZ vaccine to desperate Canada, same as Mexico.

65,000 new COVID-19 cases and 1,700 COVID-19 Deaths in the US yesterday. They're not through this yet. Especially considering there's a large faction of people that don't want to get the vaccine. 

It'll be interesting to see the reaction of people who don't get the Vaccine when their freedoms get drastically curtailed.

A lot of countries in Europe had temporarily suspended Aztrazeneca - EVEN AS THEY ARE INTO A THIRD WAVE -  which leads me to suspect that there could be  reason for concern with Aztrazeneca!

It does seem to be batch related. Regardless, the risks are relatively low. Millions have had the Vaccine without issue.

Aztrazeneca shouldn't be forced on people, though.  People shouldn't be placed between a hard rock and a hard place - that's what it amounts to, with something like Aztrazeneca.   It's like playing Russian roulette.

People should have the option whether to have it or another brand.  From what I hear - don't know if it's true - those having the vaccines now don't have the choice.

 People should also have the option to wait.
