Conservatives to deal with Fiscal Imbalance.
Catchme replied to Ricki Bobbi's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Non-sense, Texans send alot of money up here to us. Not the other way around. Sure Texans invest in our projects, but we need that investment. Most Albertans make some money off oil whether directly or indirectly, we aren't selling out to anyone. No, Newfoundland is sitting on their ass. They have tons of oil, but refuse to dig it up until the companies give all their money to the government. Oh yes, I am sure the Texans are shipping up 35 billion a year to Canada all the time! It is Canadian OIL not Texas OIL what do you fail to see about that? No, NFLD are being long term smart, their oil is going no where, and they refuse to allow the stealing of their oil through the forced and falsely low royalities because AB is to stupid to raise them to world levels. -
Yes, the Taliban Leadership fled in 2001. The elected government of Hamid Karzai has been empowered for some time. It is now 2007. How many weeks does it take to train a military force? Afghans whom wish to defend this new found freedom, democracy and Islamic Fundamentalist religion, should be quite substansive by now. I would think a large Afghan Army should have been mobilized to defend themselves against the "hated" Taliban. Good points! One would think that people would realize that Afghans have been militarized and trained enough to kick Britian and Russia out of their country. and thats its pretty arrogent to think that somehow they need Canadians to teach them how to defend their country. Personally, when I watch propaganda clips of Canadian military training them to be military or police enforcement, I laugh and think wonder how hard of time they had; either finding those who look as inept as they look, or teaching them to look inept, for the filming.

The USA are going to pull their troops out of Afghanistan for their Irag surge! They have no other choice, Congress won't give them the money and they are recruiting the dead because recruitment is low. This leaves NATO allies holding the bag on many levels. None good, or right. http://www.thewashingtonnote.com/

Alberta Oil Sands to Increase Production X5
Catchme replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Your lack of understanding of basic economics is astounding. Canadians made a fortune off oil last year. You need to learn to see companies profits as money into the bank accounts of retirees and in general everyone. When public companies do well, we all do well. Not to mention the huge amounts of tax these companies pay. Really, your lack of awareness/knowledge is astounding, you do realize the alleged fortune, is nothing to what it should have been, and be, do you? Plus, my observations that Canadian taxpayers should not be footing Oils business costs has nothing to do with economics. Personally, I have issue with Oil making 8.4 billion dollars a quarter off of Canadian's oil because AB chooses to shaft their province by having ridiculously low royalities. And no I am not going into a discussion on royalties make a new thread. Nor are you considering what x 5 means to Canadians because of NAFTA, nor would the tar sands be lasting a 150 years. Try about 15 at that rate. -
Alberta Oil Sands to Increase Production X5

There is lot of water in Alberta. The problem is, most of it is in the north end of the province (ie, where Fort McMurray is.) Water in the Fort McMurray goes north to Lake Athabasca, then to Great Slave Lake and the Arctic Ocean, via the MacKenzie River. It never goes anywhere near Edmonton, Calgary, or most farmers in the province. And that's somewhat beside the point, anyway. I'm skeptical whether the nuclear plants will use much more water than is already being used by the fossil fuel plants. Why? Because the fossil fuel plants are being used to make *steam* for the oil extraction process. The level of the river at Ft MacMurray has nothing at all to do with the level of the Athabasca in most of Alberta, and nothing to do with the tar sands activities . The Athabasca is low because of a series of winters with a low snow pack. This years heavy snow pack won't make a lot of difference anyway since there are no dams for storage. I do not think anyone, or any article said or implied that the Tar Sands had anything to do with lowering water tables of the Athabaska. Unless of course one includes GHG and global warming it's contributing to. -

Well, in essence I agree with you, it does not matter who organized it, and the largest story is x5 put out and all its ramifications on various levels. However, the secret nature of it suggests much. And those who think that 2 days after an election is too quick for the CPC to be the ones initiating/launching the x 5 increase as specified in the secret meeting, can think again. In the business and political worlds 2 days is actually a long time. -

Apparently kimmy, you are yet another one that fails to read pertinent linked material to the discussion. Just how do you see nukes being able to work in AB? You going to let OIL have your share of the available water? Personally, since Oil has made 10's of billions of dollars off of Canadians in just the last fiscal quarter, I think they should pay for everything themselves NOT Canadians yet again. -

Why should Alberta separate over this, or in fact what has this to do with AB separation? -
Shockingly, Canadian are finding out today, that just 2 days after the CPC were elected in their minority government, they had a secret meeting with Oil in Houston Texas and there can be no doubt now that Harper et al are firmly in the pockets of the Oil giants. Not only think of the environmental impacts, think about the NAFTA implications and what this type of huge export will do to domestic availability of Canadian oil down the road. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/01/17/oil-sands.html Now they say they are going greem, too funny, notice what the fund will fund: http://www.thestar.com/News/article/172337 Of course, this "green science fund" will be going to fund nukes in the Tar Sands and not much else. How nice of us Canadian Taxpayers to fund Oil, yet again, by our CPC government giving them money to switch to nuclear power. That's why Lunn is frothing at the mouth over nuclear power these days and nothing else matters but Oil. If it was money for the environment Baird would've been funding it not Lunn  http://winnipegsun.com/News/Canada/2007/01...399732-sun.html http://thechronicleherald.ca/Front/553412.html

Conservatives to deal with Fiscal Imbalance.

Accountability Act - promise kept. GST cut - promise kept. Crime Bills - promise kept. Choice in Childcare - Promise kept. Pilot project for pediatric wait times guarantee - promise kept. 11,000 acres of farmland sold back to Quebec farmers around Mirabel - promise kept .... You will probably call all of these nothing. But that's ok. You'll never vote conservative and you never have. Accountability Act, is a hatchet job, that actually now makes the PM, MP, and high ranking public officals unaccountable. There is no choice in childcare, he paid off religious voters with big families for voting for him LOLOLOL Crime Bills, oh, yes, most assuredly that is important, when 40 Judicial positions have not been filled and people are running around awaiting trials committing more crimes. Just last week a fellow in Vancouver who was released last July and has been waiting trial dates from lack of Judges has been on a assault spree the whole while. Never ever heard about the Pediatric wait time pilot program being a part of the CPC platform And the farm land around Mirabelle, uh do you have any idea how long that has been coming forward? -
Wow, your ability to put words in other peoples mouth's is truly spectacular! Surely, your not trying to say there are NO Afghan civilians dying in NATO offensives and other incidental battles are you?

Fifth Estate - Showing radical Islam in Toronto!
Catchme replied to mikedavid00's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hey, thanks for the heads up on this documentary mikedavid, it actually was a great show. very informative and shows, how whacked those are who would try and depict Islam and Muslims as all being radical, and terrorists. In fact, it was a moderate Muslim who brought about all the information gathering CSIS acheived on the young radicals in Toronto. I would recommend that those interested catch it on the CBC website, and maybe Youtube will have it, if you missed it. -
Breaking news on the CPC Harper planned destruction of the environment that most likely prompted the useless Clean Air Act, and now their going; "ta da we are now taking the environment seriously" with Baird professing to be green. And the timing of the Harper government meeting ith US oil, leaves no room for wondering who the donors are of those hidden campaign costs are/were. This was covered on the National tonight and there will be a full report on it on the National on Friday. This meeting took place 2 days after the CPC won their minority Harper to destroy environment

Oda not welcome at provincial meeting on women's issues
Catchme replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And some believe that the earth is the center of the universe and that it's 6,000 years old. Others believe that humans are just an experiment carried out by a superior alien race. What some believe doesn't matter, unless it reflects reality. There is a commonly accepted definition of a person and of being alive (it's kind of convenient to bury people only when they are not alive) and a fetus doesn't satisfy that definition. Amazing isn't that some people actually think their "beliefs" trump other peoples actual rights?! What tees me off even more, is when you explain what you mean, and what you DON'T mean and they still insist on telling you what you mean, when of course that is what they want you to mean because of their poorly educated belief patterns. -
CPC Jeopardized Canadian Security At Home
Catchme replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Since the CPC's resolution of the problem has come within two hours of the original CBC broadcast I will say both. Minister O'Connor just approved an extra $3.5 Million. The Government doesn't move that quickly so something tells me the extra funding was already in the works. Don't think you're right in this, in fact quite the opposite, as the funds won't be available for a couple of days, to the E and W Martime bases, and so anyone who wants to come into Canada over the next couple of days, will have free and open access to do so. Again, the public and the opposition, had to scream before the CPC realized how silly and insane saying; "sorry, you gotta park our Maritime marine security boats, you got no funds". Dumb dum and dumber! -
Fifth Estate - Showing radical Islam in Toronto!
Catchme replied to mikedavid00's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually, I am going to look into this 750k further, one just never knows. But thanks mikedavid. I am going to go watch the 5th Estate program, as I just finished LMoTP and it was way too funny. -
You know, the CPC really are bouncing from failure in knowinghow to govern Canada to another failure. Just what will be next? Simply unbelievable, and a Senator Kenny called it, and O'Connor was shown to be a liar. Funny some say we are in AAfghanistan, to protect us here at home. That has sure been proven to be a lie, on many levels. Of course O'Connor lied and denied this was true but lookie here: CBC full story.

hey mikedavid, one really cannot make commentary on your thread until you clear up a significant outstanding issue you left on another thread. This is regardiong your posting that Canadian Military Afghanistan widows get 750k in an 1 time payout plus pensions. This type of unlinked unsupported assertation, if false, could be grevious to wthese widows and their children. Please do clear this up. -
The fact that Afghanistan was a safe haven for the Taliban, and it was believed Osama Bin Laden and top Al Qaeda leader's were in Afghanistan. More of a safe haven than Pakistan, or Egypt? Belief that someone is in a country is not a good enough reason to destroy that country and kill civilians for more years on end. Particularily after, it was found that he was NOT there. Just as it was found that Iraq had NO wmd's. Again, Afganistan had nothing to do with 911, other than perhaps Bin Laden was hiding for a while in the mountains.

Oda not welcome at provincial meeting on women's issues
Catchme replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
They are not blanket comments. I disagreed with your analogies earlier. I don't think that pointing fingers at other groups supports your arguments for unfettered public access to abortion. It is only distractive and unproductive. This is my opinion, I don't believe I have to prove my opinion. I do believe challenging fat people to public medical care, is counter productive. I am not going to split hairs, of treating smokers, people whom work in dangerous workplaces, or those whom ski, or get into a car accident as to whether they deserve medical care. I find this just as disturbing. Like I said, this medical service is between a doctor and the patient. And Jefferiah and myself are going to disagee on everything else about it. As for the word of GOD? hmm.... How flattering. Actually, I was not really making analogies, I was pointing out how slippery the right to access universal health care was, and once one opened that can of worms for one segment of the population it would/could be opened for others. I was not drawing an actual compare between the 2. There is no compare to choice other than by way of eroding/removal of rights. No, I do not think it is distractive or unproductive, but then again that is just a woman's perspective! -

I disagree with their arguments above. I think the examples given are foolish and poor. You are correct to question them. I do not think you are a bigot either. Hey, nice blanket comments, your post is foolish and poor, you make an opinion comment, that is unsupported and expect that it should just be accepted as the word of God. Most certainly you have a right to disagree and think what you want, but your inability or reluctance to support your opinion as to why, shows lack of character and cognitive abilities.
