Quebec's in play for all three major parties.
Catchme replied to Ricki Bobbi's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The CPC has maxed out its riding's available in PQ and it is down almost 2 % as well, this mean there could actually be a LOSS of a seat or 2, not a gain. Talk about seeing something that isn't there, hows does being down points translate into picking up seats? Fact is it doesn't, it is just wishful musing at best or outright propaganda at worst. -
Legalising and Regulating Prostitution
Catchme replied to BC_chick's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
People with drug addictions are choosing to commit suicide on the installment plan - it does not really make a difference whether they die from drug overdose, AIDS or at the hands of someone else - death is the risk they take every time they stick a needle in their arm. What we need to do as a society is make sure there is help available as soon as they are willing to listen. This means we need treatments centers and detox that are available within 24-48 hours. More importantly, society must not enable their addictions by trying to make their addicted lifestyle more comfortable. We want life as a drug addicted street walker to be as miserable as possible to give them incentive they need to take the help that is available. I realize that people who have never dealt personally with an addicted person will find my prescriptions heartless - however, many times approaches like mine are the only way to break through the wall of denial. Oh that is such nonsense riverwind, their life is as miserable as it possibly can get and has it gave them incentive to get off the street? Have the murders gave them incentive to get off the street NO. I agree we do need detox and rehab, but that is NOT going to solve the safety issues surrounding street prostitution problems. People cannot be thrown into detox against their will. Many who are controlled by pimps would never be allowed to seek detox even And you are conflaggerating 2 separate issues. Drug addiction and sfaety concerns for prostitutes working the streets, while one is indicative of the other they are separate.. There has always been prostitutes and there always will be. BCChick is quite correct there were prostitutes working the streets prior to the endemic drug addiction. John's give prostitutes their diseases BTW, the prostitutes do not give it to themselves. But many have no medicare or access to medical facilities this problem would be solved to some degree if it was legalized. Also, it is very difficult for women to transmit Aids, unlike their male johns who spread it around freely.. Prostitution is legal BTW, bawdy houses and communication for the purposes of is NOT legal. Those laws need to be changed ASAP or more women will die. . -
You know, why has no one brought up the notion if this father so cared about his daughter that he is willing to murder someone to protect her, why did he not move her, or indeed his whole family away, to prevent her from contacing her boyfriend? It would have been a much better solution that murdering someone. However, apparently the father was too selfish to move, and would rather take a life because of his daughters stupidty. The fact that his daughter, at 16 wanted to live elsewhere and do drugs, says much about her home life IMV. If it was my daughter, I would move, in fact I did. When she was gettting close to the age where drugs and accessability could factor in, we moved to a rural community where we thought there would be less chance of coming in contact with such things. Only there we found their drug of choice was alcohol legally distributed and caused more problems within the community than drugs would've.

No, you seem to be missing the point, the CPC cannot even mention the environment by way of chastizing the Liberals. How quick it seems the CPC are forgetting their miserable Clean Air Act, which was by far worse for the environment than the Liberals EPA. If not for the NDP calling them on it, they would've done nothing. Remember it was only 3 years ago Harper called Global Warming a myth. and up until 3 months ago it seemed as though he still believed it. The CPC are standing in glass houses throwing stones with this type of commentary and it won't wash with Canadians. The very public unveiling of the useless Clean Air Act, raised the ire of Canadians across the country, they know full well if not for the NDP, the CPC would've done even less than the Liberals, moreover all Harper did when he announced the Alternative energy program as re-vitalize the Liberals plan they put out just before the Martin government fell. Plus what kind of priorities has Harper made? Oh, that would be NONE! Don't bother yapping about the soft wood lumber deal that was a freaking sell out that Canadians had already won, say nothing of the misterious payout of millions, or maybe billions, of dollars he gave to Bush over that deal. It seems his priorities were the X 5 expansion of the tar sands.

Glad to see Mercer excoriates Noreen Golfman as another Margaret Wente who is the darling of the right wing LOLOLOL Great article by Mercer, I can see why you liked it weaponeer, as Noreen Golfman's comments rank right up there with Barbara Bush's: "Why should we hear about body bags and deaths," ... why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

Again you are being disengenuous..You are trying to broad brush Muslims and condemn them for not speaking out. When in fact that is a lie. Muslims cannot do anything to affect others not of their sects, anymore than "Christians' do anything about their famatical sects, or Jews do anything about their fanatical sects. Hold all peoples to the same standards please. You neglect, anyones part in destroying their countries, and you neglect to mention just where Israel would be if not for USA dollars propping them up. Your targeting of Muslims at all costs is over the top.

It's All Israel's (and Bush's, and Harper's) fault!
Catchme replied to jbg's topic in The Rest of the World
Apparently, posting erroneous thread titles and commentary about the articles content furthers some kinfd of agenda. Its walking a fine line. -
Even funnier was This Hour Has 22 Minutes Harper attack ads LOLOLOLOLL>

The funniest part was Mercier slamming O'Connor for his comments about his statement that we are in Afghanistan for retribution and rewritting Canadian history, LOLOLOL

Lots of mid-wives do work out of hospitals. Not every pregnancy has to happen in the home as people have pointed out, as women get older, there can be complications. Yes, they must be licensed for the hospital, under a Dr. I would think Nurse Practitioners is a way outlaying communities could go. In conjunction with mid wifes.

Quebec's in play for all three major parties.
Catchme replied to Ricki Bobbi's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No, doesn't look likre the CPC are poised to pick up any seats in PQ, they are down 1.6, the Liberals have picked up. A majority could be in play, a LIBERAL majority that is! I would say Dion being leader has come into play, with a Liberal jump like that, oh how the PQers are going to hate the CPC NFL attack ads of Dion. LOLOLOL -
I agree. When the Jews were put in the concentration camps and 6 million were killed, there were lots of reasons for jewish "anger". That's why, after WW II, the Jews hung out in European cities, organizing suicide bombing squads rather than working. Hey. luxuriating on UN aid and blowing people up was just great fun. Excuse me, that comment is not accurate nor true. First it is a logical fallacy, you have equated Al Qeada with all Muslims. By using only the term "Jews" in juxposition, instead of using a an organization that was comprised of some Jewish people. Nor do all Muslim peoples luxuriate on UN Aid in fact MOST Muslim people do not. Just as it is not most Muslim people blowing up people, or anymore than any other kinda people are blowing up Muslims. Perhaps probably less even.

Tories to Run Negative TV Ad Campaign
Catchme replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ahh, but there is the rub. The Conservatives ads will be seen by millions of Canadians watching TV. The Liberal knock-offs, by Harper-haters and political junkies in general. Have your laugh with your internet only Harper hate fest. The Conservatives will be laughing all the way to a majority. Here is the rub, the youtube Harper has already aired nationally tonight on the news lol by millions of Canadians!!!! And its true lol even more and he is a leader, yep wells was correct the CPC are audtioning for opposition. lolol So your admitting that the CPC are you people here are having a Dion hate fest! Wow, never thought I hear that! -
Well, technically lying by omission is still considered lying.

The Tyranny of the Left Wing
Catchme replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
A look at the lefts long record of democide can attest to the fact that tyrants never sleep Nice try at a drive by smear, do people ever really read the links they are using to base the erroneous bias upon, I wonder, as apparently NOT in this case! From the link provided, and contained right in Chapter 1: Plus, I am not sure you know what democide is. -
100,000 including Fonda and Sarandon protest
Catchme replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Hmmm, I remember reading that there were many Vietnam Vets at the 500,000 strong protests and that Jane Fonda was wildly applauded by all! -
Interesting insight from Paul Wells: http://weblogs.macleans.ca/paulwells/ Of course the making fun comment is about this below and perhaps Harper and MacKay should have been listening to the call for an emergency debate, after all they are a minority government: Jack ahead of the curve, too bad Mackay and Harper never listened to wisdom and truth

Tories to Run Negative TV Ad Campaign
Catchme replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You somehow see this as the CPC running to be opposition? Jean Chretien won three straight majorities by running against his opponents record or potential *scary* *scary* *scary*. Methinks you are just upset because the CPC is emulating that success and Dion has to bust his butt to defend himself instead of doing his own attacking... Uh, yes, I am agreeing with Paul Wells, they are, they are failing to realize it though. Why would I be upset about the CPC emulating the Liberals? I will leave that up to the CPC supporters to be upset over their party turning into the Liberals, as you yourself has just acknowledged they are. So why the attack ads, if the CPC are desperate, and there is no election coming? Mr. Harper clearly enjoys being prime minister. He spends long hours at the office. He's said to delve deeply into a wide variety of policy issues. -
LOLOLOL.... we all know that only those with no leg to stand on attack the poster! Now this is going to be interesting to watch, is Bush really wanting this for Afghanistan or is he going to do the end shuffle around Nancy, get the money and approval and send them to Iraq? Because after all they are asking the Afghans to play nice with Pakistan when they see pakistan as the ones bringing this upon them. Truth or lies? While at home, our military struggles with freedom of speech and participation issues about Afghanistan: Even more important is this: makes one wonder if those here saying they are military actually are telling the truth about anything. Can you support the troops but not the war?

Tories to Run Negative TV Ad Campaign
Catchme replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Just waded through the adds, thanks to whoever provided the links. Wells says enuff with his: Haprer and the CPC with this negative campaign are auditioning for opposition. They are a year into their government, and they are still shifting focus away from themselves, and what their doing while governing. We are not in a campaign, they should be thinking about governing not about attacking. -
100,000 including Fonda and Sarandon protest
Catchme replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You're quite correct blackascoal, but there are many reasons why Bush will not leave and no of them have to do with preventing the chaos that is in Iraq. And people should really stick with their first instincts they are usually correct. Here is a link to a picture from someone who was there, 500,000 is one huge amount of people and they represent even more across the USA. Finally they woke up! But oh so late for so many Iraqis and the country. -
Tory MP accused of emailing 'denigrating' joke
Catchme replied to Fortunata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I know, what is even more amazing is that they do not realize that there is nothing humourful about denigrating "others" for ones own personal benefit. They did not like the "red neck" character in LMoTP as it stereotyped, but it is all good to actually bash FN's to get a laugh. -

It seems the Middle East link reporting on this protest was accurate. Reports are coming out that there was at least 500k protesting today in Washington. That is impressive!
