Does Stephen Harper suffer from Hero Syndrome?
madmax replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Bad Thread Title. Regardless the Conservatives have never had a handle on balancing books let alone cutting spending. I wouldn't be so presumptous to by into the narrative the CPC that the NDP lack fiscal prudence. The NDP has a stronger track record Provincially then any other goverment. More balanced budgets then Conservatives. Economists and the Professors whom teach them can argue theory in their glass towers. And they can choose to ignore or promote whatever data they wish. The Conservative cut spending on programs and services they don't like..the Conservatives increase spending on things they do like. The Conservatives have not been fiscally responsible since coming to power. But they talk a good game. -
Anders goes in the Conservative Trash bin. It should have come sooner but this way the Conservatives can boot him and keep it out of the newscycle with the budget overshadowing the removal. I figure he is going to be the next Rahim Jaffer.

Gosh.. someone dealing with Jaffer gets in trouble.. who would think it.... Perhaps he felt sorry for Jaffer or perhaps he wanted the bureaucrats to take care of his Conservatives first. We won't know. -

There are at least 5 Corporate Crime Convictions in Canada over the past 7 years.... Can you name them.. Here is 1) Garth Drabinsky.... however, Canada was forced to lay charges to prevent Drabinskys extradition to the United States where he his goose would be cooked. 2) Conrad Black........no wait... the United States Convicted him... hmm... ok.. find the other 4... lol... now back to Paradis.... I don't want to see him step down.. he has 3 scandals in almost as many days.. not bad for a guy who appears incompetent and on the take. -
And the new leader of the NDP is.... Thomas Mulcair

I find your comments very interesting if not confusing, nor did I suggest you smoke pot. The Liberals have your vote because... they believe in the continued criminalization of Marijuana? The Liberals have No intention of Legalizing Marijuana. You don't smoke it, but you believe in Legalizing it so much you will vote for the party that is against Decriminalizing it let alone Legalize it? Somehow, I highly doubt your opinion that if "bearded fool" decriminalized Marijuana, you would vote NDP... So I believe there is more at work here then simply the position of a narcotic and its decriminalization. Because your "Socially Liberal" position is directly opposed to the position of the Liberal Party Of Canada. -

You mean your vote..Which, if I have followed you properly through numerous threads.. you have withdrawn it a half dozen times already lol.... As for as Pot and electability.. they are separate issues. Decriminalization of Pot is virtually never on the minds of the public.. and its not a vote getter in terms of support. The NDP has held that sole position for over 1 decade and Its not been their position on pot that has earned them votes... and if that were the case.. you would have been voting NDP from Alexa onwards and for Jack , during each and every election. Fact is.. many of my Conservatives Friends are Pots smokers and they just think they won't get caught and that Harper and the Cons don't really want them to go to jail. Fact is.. Many of my Liberal Friends are Pots Smokers and have no concerns that the Liberals have not changed the pot laws. Fact is.. Many NDP and other political Party friends smoke pot and vote for all sorts of different reasons Fact is.. the other 50% +1 of my friends Smoke Pot and don't vote... -

I believe its an excuse for Scytl to get off the hook for bad service. I believe there were 10,000 IP addresses (mainly from Canada) that were trying to access the server.. and likely most of them NDP members.... I think Scytl does not want this to affect their reputation. I don't believe they were up to the task at hand.. and by all media reports... and tweets... there weren't. Bad PR for them.. Good luck with their defence.. -

Interesting that you would pick this one out? I can't recall a Majority Liberal Government Decriminalization Pot? I can't recall a Minority Liberal Government doing it? Infact..its never on the Liberals Radar screen.. So I think the Young Liberals doth protest to much. And from the other side of the Fence.. the Cons want you in jail for pot... -
The people who know and understand this are Industry people.. not governments nor pundits from outside. I have spoke with a Significant numbers of industry analysts and front line industry reps at KPMG and they do understand what is going on, and whenever we speak with clients.. I can't once recall hearing Tax Policy in the decision process of an industrial relocation in the last 5 years... Lots of other factors.. but never once taxes as the factual reason to relocate. Put it another way.. If we opened up our Banking System to the free market we would lose that entire banking system and the security it provides within minutes of the public offering.. There would not be one Canadian Bank left and all the Canadian Banking Aquistions in the United States would be gobbled up. Currently in Banking we have the advantage because of STRICT Regulations and PROTECTIONISM. Our banks are not open to lopsided trade aggreements or Offshore Purchasing.. and if it was allowed.. Canada would be in financial peril... and people can see how stupid the whole "Free Market" concept becomes.. And that is why no one in the right mind would ever remove the Protectionism of our banking system like we have done with Industry. Its a fools game... Consider it gone and no amount of Tax Reduction is going to change industry location. But our Well Protected Banking Institutions will benefit greatly from tax policy and continue to post record profits with little to show in investment and growth in Canada... While Stock SPeculation and Aquistions of foreign Monetary empires is to our advantage. THus.. if the US were to reduce Taxation , it would not prevent their banking institutions from being gobbled up. Only Laws protect Banks... Not taxation or free markets.

No... That is wishful thinking, but far from the truth... One company I dealt with Did $80million in Business, 11.7Million in profit and paid $35,000 in taxes..which they didn't want to pay. Fact is.. if you dropped that figure to Zilch, they would have left the country regardless. Other MUCH GREATER Forces are at work to determine location and is not Tax Policy.

Thread Title is Now Bunk for this ENTIRE THREAD. The video is pure speculation and theory.. the ORIGINAL thread title actually had some basis facts in it. It is actually the reason this thread exists and goes on for so long. This NEW thread title is a separate thread. Where people could speculate and theorize.. I watched this video and the guy has to stretch things but its all hypothetical. Sure its all doable, its nothing new or any revelation for as long as there have been elections. Ironically I asked Bryan to come up with some proof of his Wonky Theory, the Liberals Did it... But this whole new direction is a waste of my time.....and yes I had saw the video before and thought it was bunk then, but I gave it a 2nd look... If this is the Thread and Thread Title... I am cashing in my chips...consider this my last post. Conspiracy theorists enjoy...

Great total quote.. I am just quoting this short piece... with you speaking Provincially of Dalton...and taxes on Industry. Taxes on Industry have not been raised but have been lowered by both the Harper and McGuinty governments. Much like the Harris, Eves, and Chretien and Martin governments before them.... So with regards to destroy Industry one has to look alot deeper then taxation policy. I have yet to see a government in the last 20 years Federal or Provincial that understands industry, but they do fall into Lobbiest traps... Other then this small quibble.. Good Post....

Please do tell... I need a good conspiracy theory.

IT head not impressed..

Shopping But damn that was a nice post

well if Martin was an incompetent finance minister... there is no hope for the Conservatives to ever balance a budget.. not that they ever have...

On top of that there have been Leaders in the past with Dual Citizenship who strengthened our country and made it a place to grow and invest in.. Whereas its been some Single Citizenship Prime Ministers who have sold out Canada.

Cullen talks about Oil Sands, Pipelines and Fisherys...Salmon.. which I think all people from BC seem to mention at one time or another. Mulcair is an environmental hawk...and it will be interesting to see how he deals with the Tarsands.... Muclairs environmental position is actually far stronger then the NDPs current policy....
