  1. Well if you did, you would be poor
  2. Is every thread going to be hijacked as a thread for pot advocacy and criminalization/decriminalization. This is very irritating
  3. Really?
  4. Ditto! I have copied the entire post, because people who wish to do good for the environment say some very rudimentary comments but should take the time to read the concerns above. There is a debate that can be had about your statements, which I agree with. The advocates of these environmental concerns, need to put forward rational policies. CHINA and INDIA are great examples.
  5. Wages are on a downward trend. I am happy to ride my Motorcycle.
  6. If you think that the 06 Election results are related to the RCMP and Goodale, you and Liberal strategists will find yourself suffering an enoromous electoral defeat. In 04 LPC went from Majority to Minority. In 06 in what was a well planned campaign, most of the failures occurred because of the portrayal of Martin as an ineffectual ditherer, after becoming the Prime Minister. His strength as Finance Minister, or even portraying him has handling many files as Prime Minister were not adovated. Even the Adscam wasn't the biggest cause in drop of popular support. The campaign was a repeat campaign of 04 where the LPC thought that attacking the NDP was the avenue to success instead of going holding onto their right wing voters. They lost more of these to the CPC because they failed to capitalize on their economic record. That is the LPCs strategist failure. THe RCMP raid isn't going to affect the polls in an election, and the only ruffled feathers here are the hardcore CPC supporters. The strategy of mud slinging is to win a war of attrittion. It lowers voter turnout and the goal is to have more of your voters turn out then the other party has turned off. The LPC has been very successful at slinging mud, taking things out of context to form a negative view of the CPC leader. Not any different then what CPC strategist are doing with Dion
  7. There were plenty of people who smelled something. Media types, policy wonks, and a small % of the public comparatively. Nothing to go beyond the apathetic, all government does that, and besides Mulroney wasn't any better attitudes. You are correct, the long track record, the numerous allegations finally came home to roost, politically, electorally, after Chretian and during the Martin Era. With regards to you last sentence, it is a reasonable statement. And the reverse of it is also true when there is scrutiny towards LPC going ons. That is typical of these forums and political advocates/hacks.
  8. Not bad! You could buy alot of wine with that. I put my pennies in a glass piggy bank. I just don't want to crack it open. That unfortuneately is a different kind of WHINE. Perhaps there needs to be a campaign to get people to circulate their money? Otherwise, it is just a matter of time before the pennies life comes to an end.
  9. This is interesting. I don't know if Manitoba laws allow young offenders (prone to steal cars) be tracked. I also like the idea of your last sentence when I think of large corporate criminals like Conrad Black, and all the larger Corporate Convicts who have been parading off to jail in the US. Or some of the politicians who break the law. There are compensation claims for victims, but not by the offender. In some Right Wing Countries with heavy religious overtones, making the offender compensate the victim was part of the sentencing. Of course, the Taliban had that modell. So, if people point out that there is some authoritarian measure behind this... they could well be on the right track.
  10. Politics come full circle. CB=+1
  11. I disagree. People initially believed the LPC during Chretian were innocent of adscam and other activities regardless of political and media pressure. People initially believe Mulroney and believed him moreso when he took on the government and won. Now look the LPC were guilty. Mulroney ghost (Schrieber) has come back to haunt him. But I do not see this story having staying power. I don't think it is wise to play the "were so hard done by" party card.
  12. No but you have just demonstrated the point about offence being a good defence. Nice try. Lets see, he's been a Lib candidate, he posts Liberal things daily, and he supports the Liberal Party. But that isn't what this thread is about... is it. This is just another round of politics as usual, and if the file remains on the front burner, then the CPC are going to pay a political price. Opps, sorry, plead ignorance pay fine move on.. Blaming others for CPC activities is wrong headed.
  13. Whether or not Canada can do anything, the CPC is expected to play to their market. And if they are innocent, they will deal with it later... But this guys political career is finished, and the riding will not be a CPC hold.
  14. I don't care what her origin. McDonalds blew this one legitimately. 77 Pages of reading, McDonalds rolled the dice and lost. Infact you have to wonder why they didn't take a more reasonable route then let it come to this where they lost outright. Clearly as you progress through a case you can see that you are going to be TOAST! If $23,000 for lost wages after 20 years of service is a political agenda, then it will be one that all people who are treated in a similar manner will benefit from. McDonalds Blew it. I usually roll my eyes, when I see those "Hot Coffee" lawsuits, or not enough ketchup on the cheeseburger, or a french fry choked me, or the Hamburgaler looks like an ethnic hook nose or promotes theft to our young kids. But this case was going to become a no brainer and the Lawyers representing McDonalds must have gave them some horrible advice. Regardless, it is a pitance of money in the grand scheme for McDees.
  15. Yes I feel I was played by the headline and the article. There was no need to fabricate such a wild story, invalid conclusions or embellish a falsehood. Such a good writer should have been able to find a better story and better facts. I don't think it's horsesh*T but toro kaka.
  16. Ok, I just read the link provided on the ruling found in Ezras article. I think this is excellent reading for anyone who likes a good story, and I think Ezras readers read him and not the link. This is a fun read, if you like this kind of stuff. It is very long, and while I was wound up by Scribblets posting, that such a thing could happen, reading the ruling puts me back at ease (sleep). I need not worry about Ronald, and the Hamburgler. Perhaps this is just a matter of the scales of justice. http://www.bchrt.bc.ca/decisions/2007/pdf/...7_BCHRT_324.pdf
  17. Employees can wash their hands all they want at Mcdonalds. But I won't go there. It isn't healthy to begin with.
  18. http://thechronicleherald.ca/NovaScotia/1050129.html I have to wonder if the Progressives Conservatives will go down to defeat in the next election?
  19. CPC advocates want to deflect from the Headline and the reason why the raids are happening. A good offence is the best defence.... Jdobbin is a proud LPC who often criticises his own party as much as he advocates for what he believes in. I would expect nothing less from someone who has put his name on the line and ran in an election. So before you start being holier then thou, consider running for yourself and experiencing the passion, pain, and scrutiny that comes with an election campaign. Particularly if you do not win. As for your comments of the NDP making inroads on the leftwing. LPs I speak with are worried more about their image then about the NDP. They fear a collapse on the Right. The LPC always campaign on the left to gain an electoral advantage, but their growth is on the right, and their base is more on the right. Should more "Emersons" disappear then "Raes" appear, with is mathematically possible, they are in deep trouble. And in spite of all this, the CPC has been completely unable to find their footing, avoid controversy and take the lead. This raid is just another example. Why do many CPC supporters blindly support police activities when investigating others, but cry foul, when the rule of law affects them? Regardless, the public is not really aware of this incident and it will blow over unless the CPC have done something in the scope of the LP adscam debacle.
  20. They are the BQ. They are Separtists, and this is why extreme regionalists need to be defeated in the next election. Yeah, it's not blackmail because they have nothing on the government, like Harper in a Dress to release to the public. This is irritating, and will separate the 3 federal parties from them, which is its goal, but I am not certain it will find any traction in Quebec, unless the CPC or other fed party overreacts.
  21. The debt is not piling up from what I understand. The Surplusses are disapearing, and we are revenue neutral IIRC. The Military has been dissed and criticised, put on the back burner, and really only one real controversy in the past 20 years occurred in Somalia. It was Chretian who used this and some smearing video tapes to reduce the armed forces more, vs get down to the real source of the problem. People need to understand that the military is a social service funded by the public. Like many Social Services in the 90s they were cut even more to deal with the federal debt and deficits. Like said in the Afghan threads, It is time to put the monies back into the military. They were down to the bone as far as I am concerned in the 80s, and CF became known as the best McGyvers found anywhere.
  22. A little bit of both. Hiller didn't see eye to eye with McKay, and he wasn't amused with Harpers political positions vs telling it like it is. Harper didn't like the General explaining to the public the truth as he saw it. He was stating in realistic terms that we need to be in Afghanistan for a decade, (pretty much done one decade already, so what's another when he has set a goal), whereas that wasn't politically prudent for Harper, who hasn't been able to explain the mission he inherited from the Libs any better then they could. Really it's tweedle dee and tweedle dum playing politics. I bet he will run for Federal Government and as A conservative to shore up support for the Canadian Mission and more importantly Canadian Forces. This won't hurt the Cons or Harper. Grown ups have disputes and sort them out. Harper could learn alot from Hillier. One thing he doesn't seem to advocate publicly is the proper support in monetary terms and compensations to Veterans of these conflicts. Something another East Coaster advocates for such as Stoffer. McKay is more or less a politician like any other sort. THink of a manager in a retail outlet who moves from Draperies to Audio Video, to jewelry to mens clothing. But even worse a Cabinet politician has become just a figure head and do not advocate for their file.
  23. I know it makes no sense to hate a piece of stamped copper. But I too hate the penny.
  24. You live in a free country. Why don't you leave?
