  1. Yes, this is nothing new. The EI account, as discussed on other threads over the years, carries a large surplus, and is more difficult to collect, pays less, and doesn't last as long. So, the EI payments have been used to pay down the debt. There is NO separate EI account.
  2. Only someone inept and hamfisted could have found the missing spine of the Liberal Party. That said, I heard someone say that they grew a pair. Well. the pair is being shared, if you get my drift. A right nut and a left nut. (That is called a coalition) The entire country voted for this parliment. The Prime Ministers job is to make it work or and test it with votes of confidence. When their is no confidence, many things happen, and it isn't going to be another unnecessary election. If you are wondering why we discussing seriously what started out as a joke thread, is the DICK in the middle. While Trudeau would raise his middle finger, and have new terminology introduced into the house..(Fuddleduddle), Mr Harper comes across as a first class prick, with an ax to grind. Fact is, if you voted for Harper, then you may have inadvertantly voted for this coalition....and if you voted for the opposition parties, the unthinkable is occuring because of Mr. Harpers pointed gun after the fact. You don't disarm someone then pull the trigger. Well, he cocked it, and cocksure means you better know how to count. Harper isn't smart enough to work the phones of parliment, they are running around with little attack dogs, shouting at every media source, that says.... Harper created a political crises during an economic crises. Harper tried to cut his nuts off....... he may have made himself impotent. Just pray Dion isn't Prime Minister.
  3. Certainly. Those opposed to political party funding in this poll have been trailing shortly after the first day, when they had a huge lead. Since that day, those supporting party funding have held the lead by one vote at the end of each day. Last night, the poll had a reversal and those against party funding have now taken the lead by one vote. Who'd a thought that this sleepy poll would be the source that drove a nation into constitutional crises. In the meantime, my glorious poll, has surpassed this poll in sheer number of votes....Get your votes in here, if you are voting on the coalition thread....there is plenty of food for thought here. $1.95 surcharge is removed
  4. Perhaps it is better to be in government and be punished later.... then not be in government. This all seems so impossible, the BQ? How? I don't read french, but I am curious as to how the Quebec Media is covering the BQ.
  5. A bully and a coward are often the same. Mr Harper is running scared.
  6. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. LPC members and upper echelon members like Bob Rae. Members of the NDP hate and despise him. However, even the upper echelons and those attached to Chretian and Bobs brother are not stupid enough to back Mr Rae under the current climate, as it is not politically wise, nor can Mr Rae ever win the Party Leadership under any circumstance. You will have to save Mr Rae for the show fear factor as he is a neutered politician to anyone but the media.
  7. Well the coalition thread is now at 28..... With regards to your thread poll. I think you won the battle and Harper lost the war if all the media hype is true.
  8. Bloody hell@@@ IT has frozen over.
  9. IF there is anything you can do.... ANYTHING to keep that brainfartegghead away from the Prime Ministers chair....if you hear differently that there are other options then an idiot, get it out to as many sources as possible. I cannot stomach that guy nor can I trust what hairbrained nutty ideas he can come up with. Not even for a day and hour or a minute. You are replacing the Prime Minister for gawd sakes.....This is important. The LPC finished with their worst showing because of him. The LPC have been given an early christmas present because of Harper, not DION. Dion is not a welcome sight within the LPC and certainly not outside of it. Please don't make me puke on Monday.....
  10. All very true. So, will the CPC MPs have to switch seats, and move to the opposite side of the house? I heard Mr Harper held a press conference. He didn't want to talk to the press. This could be his last opportunity as PM to speak to them. I hope they are as interested in him when he is in opposition as he was to them as PM. Apparently the gist of the press conference is this.... "ITS NOT FAIR". This is all so bizarre how Mr Harper has messed this up so pathetically. Flaherty is finished, and they are hoping to make this go another week with procedural delays. The media is right. The train has left the station. Ironically, I have read numerous, numerous bloggers that say the NDP could benefit from the CPC position to change public funding. Most all of them say that the LPC and The GPC would be in dire straits and the BQ would be F(($#. So, how did this go so wrong? 1) the guy uses a hammer to break eggs. 2) he forgot ...... Joe who.
  11. The wording was created as a joke, when in another thread, it started to occur that this could create a theorhetical situation of Duceppe becoming the Prime Minister. At the time, no one seriously believed a coalition could be formed beyond the point of squawking fringes of various parties and some media devils. So I had to have some cartoonlike characters to equal the prospects of Duceppe being Prime Minister. Thus Dion is the Carbon Tax, Rae is the Economist, Duceppe is for separation and Harper is a simply "Hey Pal, ain't gonna happen" confidence because the option of a coalition appeared so absurd less then 48 hours ago. Besides, The thought of Dion as Prime Minister makes me want to puke under any circumstances. Apparently everything is possible and seeing the reaction from the Harper Supporters, you can tell they are not happy campers. The irony being that they think Democracy exists only in funding... and not in parliment and if parliment can make something that seems absolutely impossible to do, work, well then .... they are doing a better job then Harper who called an election because the parliment that was working....wasn't.... and now he put himself in a position where he is going to be looking at the procedural books to keep his job. And quite Frankly, he has a habit of taking good and bad ideas and browbeating people with them. I can't say for certain if he has worn out his welcome, but the mere thought that people, anyone could dare consider Dion as a superior leader, or a necessary change to Harper indicates how badly he has messed this up. Because Dion is IMHO a pathetic individual, who had no business in running to be Prime Minister and still has no business in being Prime Minister, if we care about our country..... While 48 hours ago I might agree with the ... something else is afoot,...... Harper has put his foot up the other parties butts and they don't like it. Which means, I could start puking come Monday. 24 votes.... Need one more..... $1.95 anyone?
  12. Yup 25 is good, but my poll regarding a coalition is up to 22 already The irony being that there is less support here for the removal of public financing ..... by one measely vote, and yet their is more support for Harper in my poll vs a new coalition leader.
  13. Not a bad analysis to consider. 2223 votes already.....
  14. This has become game of brinksmanship. The CPC are in a minority government, and Mr. Harper may have taken counting lessons from Joe Clark. If you are going to propose something, and you want it to pass, you need to find a dancing partner or force the opposition to back down. The latter was successful in the last term. However, since the parties are taking this action as an attack vs a reform, Harper may have made a grave error in judgement, that could, beyond all reasonable possibilities, lead to a united coalition government. He could well have overplayed his hand. However, you are correct that the public might be disgusted with political parties at the trough, but overlook something not always obvious to political hacks. The public is often disgusted by our political parties and politicians. So, this is business as usual in parliment and the public won't care, unless their is an election..(They didn't want the last one and were disgusted), and quite frankly, the government wasted $300million to prove nothing. The election will not help the economy, nor did the last one, and people will be happy to see cooperation in government as long as they don't go back to the polls. The backroom talk is still serious.....Will Harper and Flaherty back down????? This is definitely brinksmanship, and the opposition .....well I can't see it happening........but the opposition should they actually workout a deal save the public from another wasteful election. People recognise that Harper called an unnecessary and wastefull election, and parliment is much the same as before. People want to see the dysfunctional parliment functional before any election is called. If the coalition provides that stability..... then so be it. Federal Funding changes will have to wait for a time when their is more support for it in the house. This is democracy.
  15. Is there an emoticon to help me through this........I don't know how to respond. That said, I think those voting for Dion have less chance then Duceppe of coming up lucky. And its nice to see the Iggy Supporters. Oh yeah 10,1112 Votes. I should start charging.
  16. Vote for Duceppe Ok, it has become a story of its own and I blame Alta4ever for starting this parlimentary controversy over election funding. Seriously, the LPC are in a difficult spot and I could not see a coalition lasting more then a few weeks past a month. Well maybe as far as the leadership convention. I don't know if there is an impartial LPC member not tied to one of the 3 camps. I forgot Leblanc on my list. My Apologies..... I just forgot... in the rush to have some fun. Anyone who wants to vote for Leblanc can send me $1 and I will make up a new poll. Hah.... 9 votes.....already.
  17. Hmmm.... vertabrae deficient..... Who cares........... I have 7 8 votes in my poll, soon will surpass your measely 25 vote poll.
  18. We can all dream.... can't we.... BTW>>> My poll has 6 votes already.... (I was thinking of charging $1.95/vote, but then I thought Greg would be looking for a cut and I don't share.)
  19. Our Very Existence is at Stake No....its not climate change. (Good read though, won't let me cut or paste any of it)
  20. You wouldn't like to hear... PRIME MINISTER DUCEPPE???
  21. You got ahead of me....... Imagine Duceppe as Prime Minister. The poll is up have fun.
  22. Ok have fun.... Who would have thought that this issue would be the buzz.
