  1. Pot meet kettle....Kettle meet pot.
  2. Don't encourage it..... I highly doubt that anyone would put their job on the line for a wildcat for political fools. That slowdown is catching up to the oil industry regardless of who holds power. The vote count keeps going up, one of the strongest MLW polls going.
  3. Wheres Mulroney, he did a good job of Dividing Canada. Oh, got prorogued along time ago
  4. The problem with the 2 Cent cut, is that it has little effect on everyday life of many Canadians. The biggest savings would come from buying a big ticket item like a Car. But other then that the effect has been to lower government coffers. A government that was dependent upon money generated from Consumption. The GST/Income tax debate is one between LPC and CPC, and it is debateable which generates more spending for an average Canadian. The problem with the GST is that when the economy shrinks so does government revenues, which are dependant upon the tax to provide services. So just when you need it most, the money isn't there. The GST provided more money then the FST and was designed to take advantage of the FTA and reduce taxes on Industry, and shift it to the consumer. With Industry moving regardless of the tax break, there may be less reason to justify the GST and the extra burden it places upon the poor, many who would see no benefit from an income tax break. Your on "That Guy"
  5. He looks up, sees no enemy and sighs. Then takes a shot... Nothing like friendly fire to lighten the mood. Seriously, your answers are similar to what mine would be. With regards to "regressive" GST, it is means exactly what you described for an example. Will have to mix it up in another thread.
  6. Thanks. Been feeling the heat here, and at babble. Warnings no bannings yet ...
  7. Ok M.Dancer I will bite. I have three questions for you. Were you for the creation of the GST? Do you believe in Income tax cuts over cuts to the GST? Would you favour the elimination of the Regressive GST? I have my helmet and flak jacket r......eady for return fire.
  8. If there were LPC members crossing the floor, we would have heard it by now. Liberal cracks are huge, and the fact that they have managed to do this, would suggest that the LPC are much strong then the CPC propoganda is highlighting. The fact that the longest serving conservative and now sitting independent is not backing the CPC is telling. You would think he would be easy pickings. You will have to do better then this Betsy, for anyone to believe you, let alone take you seriously.
  9. Ditto Could well be true. Patently False. I bet you haven't heard Jack Squat about the BQ from NDP/LPC circles. The problem most talked about is Dion. The CPC and CPC voters are most outraged about the block, but it is phoney. The general public is uncomfortable with the bloc and that is real. But Dion shows worse then the BQ and POLLING DATA supports that position. The BQ numbers will become tempered should the public become aware of the history of the CPC and BQ as bed buddies. But Dions numbers can not improve.
  10. Don't forget to vote HERE!!! Coalition slight lead, Dion moving up ( ) And this in Dion Not supported by 64% of Canadians
  11. Hmm, not so fast. Wasn't Anne McCellan an LPC cabinet minister from Edmonton?
  12. This is the real Coalition - Anti Coalition Poll. 76 votes and counting. Don't settle for imitation.
  13. ROTFLMAO Holy shit..., I don't know whether you should get a pat on the back or a whipping. Oh yeah, you were kidding. I know the feeling..... Great stuff, glad you remembered and dug it for us to see.
  14. So I guess Harper blew it......
  15. Apparently 3 distinct and often warring parties especially the BQ and LPC have set aside their differences in order to make parliment work. The CPC proved unable to do this or respect the opposition position in the house. Opposition statements after the election talked of a cooperative parliment and unfortuneately Mr Harper failed to get the message, or more importantly choose to ignore it, while in a minority position. Another election cannot guarrantee that the house will be shaped any differently then another minority government. The GG will have to take into consideration that a coalition has been formed with a Majority of seats in the house and with the intent to provide stability to parliment for 18 months. General layouts of what the coalition intends to do have been outlined. Already above and beyond anything the Harper government has provided, but that says more about the circumstances of the Harper Government then it does about the coalition. The Conservative government is now focussed on attack. That is about all the CPC will be able to provide the Canadian Public. The fact that 3 very estranged parties can work together is a sign of strength not weakness. The attack strategy of the CPC may or may not work, but it will not change the face of government or how Harper runs his ship. And that is why the GG has some serious concerns before her on handing power over to the coalition.
  16. Harper is running away from certain defeat. If the coalition cannot demonstrate an ability to govern with the support of the house then the public will have an election. Closing Parliment down, does the country no good and it is not strong leadership.
  17. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloc_Qu%C3%A9b%C3%A9cois Do the BQ allow Canadian References http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/ind...s=A1ARTA0000829 The BQ is a separtist party that promotes the separation of Quebec from Canada. In the meantime it strives to fight for the benefit of Quebec within the Federal System. Does the truth hurt?
  18. The coalition only has to prove that it can govern with the confidence of the house. The coalition is smaller then the Conservative Caucus, but they have the written support of the BQ for 18 months. The CPC have lost the support of the BQ.
  19. Thats correct. Tensions are a bit higher this past week and even typos and unintential slurs are going to be pointed out and taken more personally then just a few weeks ago. Some peoples sensitivities are high and forum rules need to be respected. As you know, I was recently set straight for incorrect name useage and it makes sense, especially now. One thing I have noticed, and this has to be good for MLW is that there are many "NEW" and very very recent members appearing and posting on these forums. PS ....Anti-Coalition forces leading this poll.
  20. I hope you voted in this valueable poll. He, you are posting....
  21. Patronage Appoints before the curtains are measured?
  22. The CPC, LPC, NDP, are all offering a "stimulus" package. They can layout the details of what they believe a "Stimulus" package is. I doubt very much that any political party would offer a general electionas a "stimulus" package. Anyways, I think I have said a couple boners in this thread. Bound to happen, its pretty active and intense, and this is untreaded ground.
