You have to learn to question the 'experts' then.. By that logic smallc, if increased sentencing will do NOTHING to help, then ANY sentence must not help either. Hard to commit repeat offences when you are in jail, don't ya think?

World Might Blow Up or Something Today
White Doors replied to Ontario Loyalist's topic in Health, Science and Technology
Wow, do you TRY to be wrong on purpose? Do you have a cite for that Amish stat? thanks. Also, where is all the lost farmland? thank you -
Despite how sour it may taste on some people's tongues.

If they don't do it soon the CPC may end up being the natural governing party.

I have to admit, I am enjoying watching the death spasms of the liberal party this election. This is what the Liberal party truly needed.

The market is already addressing the issue. Have you seen the price of fossil fuels lately? Billions upon billions have been sunk into research for alternative energy. it's happening now. Something is already being done about it.

Do you have a point or are you just practising your typing skills?

All laudable goals and all reduced pollution and all were achieved without increasng taxes as far as I can see. Two things that it doesn't share with the global warming crowd: - CO2 is not a pollutant. - Increased taxes is the solution being bandied about as a 'solution'. I find when a problem is poorly defined and understood and the consequences are poorly definced/understood the ony solution you usually get is anti-capitalistic and/or increased taxes. Draw from that what you will.

Nice summary. And I agree. Even as an Atheist - some could have issues with cultivating embryo's for research. Nothing to do with religion necessarily.

Are they educated in Canada at post secondary institutions or where they immigrated from? Huge difference in my opinion.

Canada-EU trade proposal rivals scope of NAFTA
White Doors replied to Drea's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The more 'free trade' deals we can get, the better for our country - I'm all for it. -
Scientists appear to have a theory of what stonehenge was for.. Apparently for healing purposes. Also, they have a new date of original construction, 2300 BC (younger than first thought) around the time of the first pyramids in Egypt. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Science/2008/0...6842791-ap.html also - would be nice to have a history/archaeology subforum, I wasn't sure where to put this.

Hurt it? If you mean almost destroy it? you do remember the 1995 referendum in Quebec? Or were you old enough at the time? You do know that Western Canada already feels isolated from Ontario? Hello, NEP?

Uhm... procuring equipment for the Canadian armed forces is not a national welfare make-work project. We need the best gear at the best price, if that comes from inside Canada, all the better. If not, then too bad, get it anyways. Buying life saving gear for our guys and gals in uniform should be about giving them the best tools PERIOD. It has always mystified me why people seem to think 'made in Canada' as a first priority. It is such juvenile thinking.

There was much more of a smog problem in NA in the 60's and 70's when there were alot less cars than today, how do you account for that if you think people having 1.7 cars/family is the problem?

I see you don't have much faith in your fellow citizen and I think that is the crux of the argument isn't it? You have more faith in 'government' and I have more faith in the individual. I think 'group think' can be a very dangerous thing.
-
You can only be a free citizen if one of your freedoms is being able to arm yourself.... Ironically, people like you want to take that right away from me. Ergo, you aren't the best speaker of what freedom really is.

Why Doesn't the US Respect Canada More?
White Doors replied to jbg's topic in Canada / United States Relations
I don't think the USA is instilling fear, they are following that they deam to be their national interests. Fear and bullying aren't the objective. Terrorism, on the other hand, is by definition - a means of swaying public opinion by killing, maiming and creating a sense of fear to further a political goal. edit: What conservatives are you referring to that have a difficult time with analogies? thanks -
No it was reporters too. Business Editors left leaning? odd.

lol

True, but bias is displayed by the newsroom on what they 'run' with. The conservative 'scandals' get all the playtime and the Liberal, NDP and Green 'scandals' seemingly don't have the prominence or longevity compared to the conservatives. There was a media poll a few years back and over 70% of the people in the media said that they are NDp supporters... Not sure why, but there ya go.
-
Not to be nitpicky, but this is largely solved now due to Canada's procurement of 4 new C130 Globemasters.

Actually, Bullies are usually lacking in self esteem which is why they are bullies to compensate. But nevermid that, I'm sure it won't change your 'hypothesis'
