My theory is that urban people can more easily 'see' government in their everyday life.. From street sweepers, sidewalks, police, fire, ambulance etc etc etc, urban people 'see' governmnet involvement in their lives on a much larger scale than a rural person would on a daily basis - ergo, they are more likely to vote for a politcal party that espouses 'big government'.
