It's not necessarily that i'm offended that The Judge made the comment, although i am,it's that she saw it not fit to respond to the brouhaha she created by hiding behind the guise of judicial privilege. That shows cowardice and i despise that.

Smoking can kill you. Drinking can kill you. Doing drugs can kill you. Sleeping with you neighbors wife can kill you. Drinking to much water can kill you. The law is basically an admission of defeat,you apparently can't appeal to peoples' better nature to change their behavior. The point is, trying to ban such behavior is basically useless and frustrating,ask anybody who has tried to help a friend or a family member overcome an addiction. It comes down to choice,if someone chooses to engage in self defeating actions i say,let "Evolution'' take it's course and let Darwins' Law take effect.

This article just reinforces my belief that a significant amount of French speaking people in Quebec are actively anti-semitic. What is surprising,to me at least, is that it emanates from the highest levels of government and institutions. The anti semitism that originates from the ignorant has always been there, what is unexpected is the seemingly entrenched attitudes of those you would have expected to have enlightened views regarding the benefits of welcoming those people who contribute to a society,economically and culturally. It is troubling indeed to see this coming from police and government as it encourages those who foster intolerance that they have official sanction, talk about willful hatred. The Jewish community have, however committed the cardinal sin, never be more successful than the people who came before you, into whose communities they see as their own.

Leading the pack? Canada is right behind, and negligible difference. Fats arent the problem as I see it. Our parents and Gparents used to eat and cook using quite a high amount of fat. Pure lard was always used in baking, frying etc. The sugars on the other hand were not available to our parents as much. After all the Atkins Diet does work!! Fats clog arteries . So really we cannot "see" this in our population. Sugars, if unburned are stored as fat, and if one does not ingest enough fuel to run a body, the body will go into survival mode and "store" any incoming fuel (read sweet) as fat. That is why you will see a friend who claims they are on a diet getting fatter. They are not ingesting enough calories to fuel the body, thus the body will convert glycogin stores in muscle into starches (sugar) to fuel the body. They become "thinner" only because their muscles are being weakened, thus smaller. Think about you or a friend who has gone on a regime of fitness abd diet.. If they eat right, and they exercise right, they will gain weight (fat loss + muscle gain) but look thinner. Very good points here. I can personally vouch for The Atkins Diet. It Works. I have personally lost 30 lbs and counting on this low carb and high protein diet . Sugar is the killer,that, and the empty calories of refined grains in cereals and breads, that is what the body converts directly into gylcogen, if your body doesn't need it for fuel it goes directly into fat stores.

It seems we're lagging behind our european counterparts in demanding labeling laws here,never minding banning it outright. Health Canada and The Canadian Food Inspection Agency seem to think there is no problem. What exactly is wrong with GM foods? I thought that the modifications were mainly dealing with making crops resistant to disease,and helping them grow in less then optimum conditions. P.S. Hypocrites are everywhere,why are western hypocrisies the only ones that are seized upon by certain people to prove a point? The point being that with all our high flung ideals such as democracy, freedom of religion and tolerance that we shouldn't preach to others about how to conduct ourselves, because that there are those among us who don't always act in a way that reflects who we say we are. There is that behaviour in all aspects of our daily life,it is easy to spot in people you know,your spouse,family,friends,your workplace, easier to criticise somebody,eager even, until you remember that just yesterday you were guilty of that same offence,'conscience doth make cowards of us all', It must be a great burden to be so perfect that you can point out other persons or institutions or nations hypocrisies and remain untouched by it all.. i don't envy that burden. My point and i do have one is that you should be very circumspect about whose whose behaviour you condemn as hypocritical, can your behaviour stand the same scrutiny that you give others?
