  1. I'm glad you hadn't forgotten the Tory decimation of our province either.
  2. If you haven't noticed, group insurance health coverage is diminishing too meanwhile the premiums keep going up. Hope we'll never end up with Total Managed Health.
  3. Harpers charisma is growing and being at his speech everyone was ready to follow when he was done. The Conservatives have a team of strong young MP's that will emerge into a new great Canadian government. That's scary. Someone who can do more damage than Brian Mulroney or Harris.
  4. Forgot where I read it but I think global warming may have already passed the point of no return. So if Kyoto might just be a farce because the skeptics made it into a farce.
  5. Yeah, I do the same thing and roll my eyes at people who are quick to jump on you with the tag "Anti-American" or "US Basher."
  6. If the Iraq invasion was multiple-choice type test, Bush passed only on the third attempt: Question #1: What is the reason for invading Iraq? a) the Iraqi government was involved with 911; Iraq had weapons of mass destruction; c) Iraq needed a regime change; d) all of the above; e) none of the above. Well, he answered a) and and got those wrong. You know what they say about the hundred monkeys with 100 typewriters.
  7. I have no idea how far your class discussion has gone so I'm guessing that it hasn't mentioned the BC Liberals are made up of refugees from the now-defunct and dishonoured Social Credit party - an ultrarightwing party comparable to the Reform Party. Back on topic, polls aren't showing favourable for Dalton because the perception is that he lied. He broke too many campaign promises. But I can't see how anybody can seriously blame him for the current predicament. One may state that he should have known the true state of the books before making those promises but again how many people outside of the inner Harris circle knew the details of the secret 407 contract and the secret details of the Oak Ridges Moraine? Those secret contracts had iron-clad conditions that literally 1) robbed Ontarians of lucrative 407 revenue (407 was an NDP initiative) and 2) severly and permanently weakened environmental protection of natural wetlands around the GTA. Secondly, it wouldn't have mattered in the Ontario Liberal had made any campaign promises at all. At that time, Ontarians were so fed up with the results of the Common Sense Revolution, they would have voted Liberal regardless.
  8. I am happy for Walmart, not the victims & I am, in fact quite a nice guy, ask my non union employees. I'll take your word for it. The same respect that union members quite often show their employers ? Jim I would agree that's half the problem. Everybody (on both sides) is doing too good a job representing its members. Hence, we always end up with these confrontations.
  9. And for this you're happy? You're not a very nice person are you?One would hope that in a civilzed society, everybody can be treated with respect.
  10. I believe there were about 800 or so political parties running in the Iraq election. In Canada, 301 should be enough.
  11. Somebody else in another discussion forum blasted me for stating that Walmart products were crap. Regardless, people shop there because of the low prices. That's agreed. As for the workers' meagre existance, perhaps they were optimistic that there was a glimmer hope for them after all. Can't really blame them for trying improving their own lives.
  12. Well since it all came about AFTER the referendum - no. There is no indication it achieved anything of substance other than to make some companies rich, and to get money into the Liberal Party's coffers. As I said, this money was spent after the referendum. And nobody asked me if I wanted to fight a war. If they had I'd have said no, not one cent to Quebec to convince them to stay. Let them go and good riddance. Whether or not you had agreed with me, the former PM iterated what I was saying all along. Yes, the referendum was over, but there was still a war going on with the Separatistes over the fragility of Canada.
  13. Welcome back. Your sabbatical only lasted one week.
  14. He must be struggling with his political identity. He posted a what was supposed to be a simple question once and turned out to be quite complex. Also, his right wing leanings turned out to be inconsistent with his position on equal pay for work of equal value when he learned the champion of that was Bob Rae who tried to implement it.
  15. More revealing than what meets the eye.
  16. The degeneration of this thread began this morning with this post.
  17. I doubt this argument will ever take place in a SSM.
  18. At one time, being left handed was considered evil. Parents would force their children to "become" right-handed as if being left-handed was a lifestyle choice. I recently asked in these discussion forums if the Roman Catholic church still considers Catholic/nonCatholic marriages mixed. The answer is yes and the Church will not perform those types of marriages. I assume the RCC will also not perform mixed race marriages either. Regardless, people of mixed race and mixed religions find some other means to get legally married regardless if the RCC performs them or not. This in itself renders the opinion of the RCC insignificant. If SSM becomes legal, the RCC can continue to reject performing what it doesn't want to perform - fine. People will legally find means to get what they legally desire.
  19. Although the internet is a big place, would it be possible those who join discussion forums for the sake of disrupting them and then getting banned are the same perhaps same group of people who continuously hop from one forum to the next?
  20. It's all in the interpretation, which is very subjective, especially when it's been translated for the umpteenth time. If the bible can predict the existance of Canada, please have it guide NASA to the exact nearest location so that they can confirm the existance of life in the universe other than our own. Should save billions of dollars.
  21. and you can also wish it wasn't there when it is.
  22. I believe David had a homosexual relationship with Saul's son, Jonathan. And then David eventually became king of Isreal.
  23. Personally, I wish for no one to die. But we all know that would raise a whole lot of other problems. I would wish that the US Presidency and government would just get off its high-horse and start cooperating with the rest of the world. Mind you, this doesn't mean that there are other countries that should be let off the hook for conflicts they are involve in.
  24. All I'm willing to say is with hope, it won't take as long as thirty years before the truth is revealed.
  25. I remember Craig as a master of name-calling. So to ban him for plagiarism is like convicting Al Capone for tax evasion. As for MapleSyrup, if you find his posts intriguing and worth debate, then join in. But if you find him trolling, just do as the rules suggest and ignore his posts.
