Nice try, but a myth is a myth.

Vote NDP = National Bankruptcy, Healthcare System Collapse <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another urban myth. If there's any consolation, provincial NDP track records are the same as PCs and Liberals - both good and bad. Federally, the only time I recall National Bankruptcy was right after the Mulroney government. And speaking of which, I believe Mulroney said that only a fool never changes his mind. So.... I'm glad Martin decided against BMDs.

Poll gives Liberals commanding lead

Try not to be too complacent and confident. There's still lots of time to go, especially after New Years day when people will start focussing on the election and when Harper appears to distance himself from his roots even further. -
We might expect some dual citizens in Canada challenging the ban, stating it is an infringement against their constitutional right. So dual dual-citizens may have immunity whereas non-American Canadians won't have that right.

If we agree to to keep the discussion civil, I won't comment in kind about the off-the wall comments from FD.

It's also perception. Some people equate the NDP to socialism then to Communism and then to Pol Pot, Joseph Stalin, etc. Also, the peception that the NDP is fiscally irresponsible when historically, both of other parties have the same kind of track record of 1) balancing budgets; 2) running up deficits.

I heard the same interview yesterday (Dec 7th). I like the part where his family was not familiar with the concept of cottage country, tried the camping bit and preferred not to pursue it. HA, HA - senitments also felt by some Canadians I know.

The Universal Soldier is really is to blame. His orders come from far away no more. It comes from you and me and bro, can't you see, this is not the way to put an end to war.

Every election topic is sad. That's why we have elections, because there's always some people who wants a change in government for whatever the (sad) reason. You should also note that only the incumbent party talks about the good things.

Which MP Would You Most Like To See Lose Their Sea

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> So the prodigal son has returned home. But you know how the rest of the story goes with the son who remained loyal. -

Stephen Harper, Peter MacKay, and Paul Martin. -
How does this compare to the Liberals' plan of universal daycare in which the Conservatives were so dead against? Does this help a parent decide to stay home? to hire a nanny? or to get a daycare space? Hardly. It would only ease the current pain of childcare but not impact significantly childcare options as space is currently between $600 to $1000 a month. Guess since Ralph Klien stated the Conservatives won't win, Harper can promise anything just to look good.

Pollsters always stated they are accurate within a margin of error of 2% 19 times out of 20. Whatever that means. 19 times out of 20 is 95% - 5% margin of error.

Yes, I would go six years back to remind myself of the Canadian Alliance. And I would go eight years back to remember the ...shudder... Common Sense Revolution. And if you wouldn't go ten years back, you wouldn't be reminded of Adscam. And if you wouldn't go twelve years back, you couldn't campaign on "Change". And to get back on topic, go back even further to remind yourself the final nail that did the PCs in, that got the Reformers really upset, and then when they formed the opposition, made an about face and accepted the GST in a policy convention. Promises made?
-
I would hardly be the one to suggest any form of suppression of free speech. This is a public forum after all. As long a we don't return to the old days of degeneration when Craig Reed and FastNed was here all is welcome.
-
I'm trying to decide if this GST announcement is another policy-on-the-fly that Stockwell Day was so notorious of doing. If we give Harper the benefit of the doubt, that means the Conservatives must have a whole bunch of policies they are not releasing yet. So why this one and why now or why aren't they releasing their entire policy book?

Why is it that in order to be counted, Canada has to go with the flow as some people would have it? Back in the '80s PC leader Brian Mulroney stated that to be heard in matters of the global arms race Canada won't have credibility in the Peace Movement if it didn't cooperate and test the Cruise Missile. How much credibility does one have if he's always the "yes" man?
-
Would your response have been more in acceptance if he had cited a Liberal or an NDP source? It was very appropriate to cite a source the conservatives themselves consider to be credible. It may be seldom, but very notable when a think tank or a lobby group one normally disagrees with has some points one can agree with. What I find more interesting is where the Liberals were criticized of buying votes, the Conservatives are now doing the same. Such habit is not new to Harper.
-
This is exactly the same position of the Reform Party in which Harper was a co-founder. Put yourself in that position, with this defeatist position how are you going to convince Quebecers to vote "no"?
-
That's efficiency. Something the business community has been preaching for decades as they layoff employees.
-
If Harper is going to be honest with himself as well as to his Reform roots, he's going to let the Separatists have their way and not get involved at all. If Harper decides to defend Canadian Unity, his "No" campaign is going to be more shallow than Powell's UN presentation about WMDs in Iraq - it won't come from the heart since his position is that there's so many things wrong with Canada and a centralized government.
-
Are we looking foreward to Prime Minister Harper defending the Clarity Act and leading the campaign for the "No" side in the next Quebec Referendum?

As I understand it, the death was not combat related. For obvious reasons, safety features that would normally appear in civilian vehicles might not appear in military vehicles, but would seat belts and an air bag have saved his life?
-
Trying to score points? Why? I believe Foxnews has been cleared by CTRC to broadcast in Canada, so that would give the rightwingers choices between CTV, Global, and Fox to watch. The CBC gives each official party equal time. If the CBC were eliminated, us lefties will be without anything of value to view. You do offer choice for others beyond yourselves don't you?
-
Then you'd support one of the two options, in fairness to your fellow Canadians, since none of the conservative outlets are publicly funded: - cut all public funding to the CBC - pour several billion in startup costs to a purely conservative national media outlet, plus a billion per year in operating costs in perpetuity I know you'd be happy to do either, you want to be fair to all Canadians, not just those who agree with your political viewpoint. Which one do you choose? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I do detect a strawman at work here. I didn't mention any of those nor did I imply them. I'm also glad that the CBC is publically funded so that people will have a choice in which to watch or listen.
