  1. He should be higher on the list. Atleased above JC.
  2. Oh how wrong you are...the soviet union collapsed, so will Canada under the NDP, but the NDP will never be in power, so we really have nothing to worry about! Oh yea Coast-to-Coast Blue, that's how it should be.
  3. Whatever, we are a bunch of bums down here, we need a good kick in the ass! Too many lazy people. Let us have more control over our destiny! Give us the power, and we will use it to our benefit!
  4. Nova Scotia! Conservative!
  5. MY list: Martin: -Didn't like answering questions -Is the only person that I've herd talk about a "blackhole" in the Cons. budget. -Seemed nervous -Not very convincing Harper: -Calm, collected -Got burned on some social issues -Answered questions well (not very) -Was the best of them all -Agreed with the majority of his issues, is the better alternative to Martin and Layton. Layton: -A very sad performance (one of the reasons I kept watching) -Treated the debate like a commercial -Agreed with some of his issues, but the majority I disagreed -Too left-wing for me! -Tied too hard, should be selling used cars. Duceppe: -Half decent man, too bad he is pro separatist. -Asked clean and concise questions -Answers were good as well -#2 in the debate -Overall, he is with the wrong party, and I don't live in Quebec so I don't really care. And I'm tired of hearing about Quebec. I think this country is weak. We need a good conservative ass kicking to get back in shape.
  6. Responce to The Watcher - She sounds like a robot. There is no spontanious responces. As said before, all of her responces sound like they are pre-written and she doesn't have any of her own personal views on things, just what the speech writers say. I don't know about her. I don't think she is ready to run the party RIGHT now, maybe after awhile in politics.
  7. What's the political aspect?
  8. KK - The Iraq War II is going to be debated for years. Who knows why the US went in. There are stories that they went in for oil, to rid Saddam and to stop terrorism. The debate will be going on forever. GWB has already changed his story (pertaining to news reports of when he was making the war cry to the story he is telling now, it has changed). Let's face it. They said there was WMD, they havn't found any (yet?). Maybe for Oil? There is only a 53.3% dependacy on imports, but, out of the total imports of crude oil, there is only a dependancy of 4,083,000 Barrels / Day from OPEC counrtys out of a total of 14,886,000 Barrels / Day crude consumption. The Iraq controversy is not going anywhere fast. And Bush doesn't look like a night in shining armour. Sorry for going off topic...
  9. I don't mean to sound naive, but I would rather make decision on policies that would make Canada a wealthier country and worry about the votes later. Wouldn't putting money back into this country hypothetically increase you popularity and get you a second mandate? Or is the majority of this country dumb? I still won 15 or 20 seats more than Mr. Trudeau did at the height of his popularity. So I've had my share of popularity. The unpopularity comes when you have to do important things. And I guess you have to decide whether you'll be popular, or whether you want to make to affect important structural change. -Brian Mulroney That is what I believe in...you gotta make decision that make a difference, if that makes you unpopular, oh well.
  10. I'm going to throw my hat in Stronarch's ring... She is young, a new face to politics and has a very good platform. Out of all the other cadidates I like her the best. Good ideas and a vision for the future that I share. If she does win, I think she could take this party to victory.
  11. Where did you get that assumption? One reason we are getting the gas now is the company that was origianly going to distribute it backed out of the contract it signed with the province, they decided that it wasn't that profitable and they wanted to make changes that were unsafe. Heritage Gas has the contract now and distribution is starting.
  12. I have a very good example of that. I started work at a car dealership right out of high school. We stored peoples tires for them as per the season. This used to be a free service, everyone took part in it. People that owned a subaru or audi (the makes that we sold) would bring in their second car, whatever it be and get their tires stored. The system was abused This year they started to chage for storage, $20 a set ($5 per tire), and let me tell you, the ammount of people that opted for storage dropped about 20-35%....just goes to show you.
  13. A socialist system wouldn't work because the world isn't socialist. If you did impliment such a system, you would still have people taking advantage of it and making a profit. So, in the long run it would fail. It's human nature to better your self.
  14. That is very graphic, you don't realize how powerful those guns are until you see the aftermath. Scary From the tape, it does look as if they are just walking around. But we don't have all the information. They could have been guerillas that were setting up for something....we just don't know. This is war, this is what happens...
  15. Good point... I always laugh at the people that chant "make the rich pay more." Don't the rich people of this world do most of the employing? If you make them pay more and more, they will eventually leave, and then what will we be left with? A whole bunch of social programs that can't be funded...we saw what happens when socialism is in power in Canada, Trudeau.....It doesn't work, and never will. How are people supposed to go to work and be satisfied if their outlook is that of the same pay every week, month and year. If a company gives stock options and tells it's employees if they are more productive they will make more money.... Let capitalism reign, and the right-wing live forever... Pellaken - My condolences for begin a NDPer...
  16. This may be a funny point, or a serious one. The address for the conservative party is the CA address....hmmmmm
  17. Isn't that the whole aim of space exploration? I think this is very important work that NASA and other space agencies are doing. Discovering other worlds is what we have to do in order to advance our society beyond earth. Look at what happened when the Apollo mission landed on the moon, it captivated the whole planet...we need more of that.
  18. Here is a Globe and Mail poll on the possible upcomming election, it shows the NDP and Conservatives grid-locked with 31% each....check it out...followed by the liberals... http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/Pag...bhub=VoteResult
  19. I don't think sticking it to Canada is high on the list of things GW need to do. He is currently involved in other, how can I say, more important things at the moment. There is alot more behind it than that....read the other posts in this thread http://www.mapleleafweb.com/community/foru...t=ST&f=3&t=1000
  20. 1. Peter Mackay - For staring adversity in the face and making a change for the better of Canada. Even though he was heckled by many members and high-level people, he stuck trough it and made a decision. Good for him. 2. Public Workers - From firefighters to municipal workers. For all the disasters they had to put up with this year, they stuck with it and help many-a-Canadian out in times of need. From fighting fires, hurricanes and helping all the people through the disasters that happened this year, I tip my hat to you!
  21. Thanks for coming down to Kabul and giving us a moral boost. Why do we have this person spending our money, visiting places and "boosting Canadian values" around the globe. Common! Afghanistan is going to rebuilt by hard work and international support. It is going to be rebuilt by forming its own government, and having its own infrastructure. The children are playing outside because that's what they've always done...But again, thanks for stopping by. Did you bring new equipment by any chance? I see Mrs. Clarkson as a aimlessly roaming figure-head of this country. I don't really know what she does, or if she has to do it. To me, we could be spending our money elsewhere, or change the role that she plays....
  22. Good points. We should not be smug, but offer help. A situation like this should not have been allowed to happen with the technology we have today. Japan tests all of its beef for BSE, we should be doing the same. If that causes the politicians to mope and whine about costs, just look at what this is costing us right now. Build the labs, hire the people and stop this sort of crap from happening....
  23. I know this is going to touch off some strong feelings, but I would like to examine the worldwide implications of the pornography industry and its on-going effects on people. In 2003 the size of the pornography industry was $57 Billion - $12 Billion US http://www.familysafemedia.com/pornography...statistics.html The industry has been around for ages, from the brothels of the middle ages to internet porn and DVD's. Every year there is PORNCON, the international exhibition of pornography in Las Vegas, which attracts thousands of people and big name porn-stars. Empires have been build around pornography (Playboy, Hustler, Club, etc) Playmates there to help troops boost moral and keepem' fighting http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/04/02/...8962766885.html So, I an mature manner, let's discuss this topic. What implications come from porn, should it be allowed, should more restrictions be implemented? Is it a freedom of speech? (Movie: The People vs. Larry Flynt).
  24. I don't even know about a provincial level. the NDP here in NS were offering the world to the taxpayers last election. I would pose the question to them of how they are going to pay for all of the services they were offering. The PC's offered, in my view, what we could afford and sustain. As an example: When the PC's were passing the insurance rate reduction rate bill, the NDP didn't put in any constructive work into the bill with the PC's, they just criticized the PC's for screwing over the NS people, and that they (PC) should implement a public insurance system (at a cost that they pegged at 2 million...whatever) that they had suggested in their platform....(The liberals worked with the PC's BTW, in forming and passing the bill). The NDP were just, blah, blah, blah to anyone that would listen. Plus, we can all see what a socialist does to Canada, look at the Trudeau years, he screwed this country over for years to come. The debt had risen 1100% and we were spending $1.23 for every $1 collected in taxes when Mulroney came to power....
  25. I heard this on a news program, can't remember which one (US Media I know for sure), but they said that the public should not be concerned about eating beef because mad cow is only present in the brain and spinal cord. They said that the portions of the animal that are normally eaten by people are not infected. Any more info on this? How did the people in the UK get infected?
